Ive got sprouts carrots and other perishables today which i need for xmas day (use by 26th) from M&S because I was passing one. The rest I'm getting tomorrow from Asda

Saturday morning!

Plus I work in a well known supermarket (where I'm be shopping) so know how busy it can be!!

However meat is on order, parents are getting the veg and so I don't think they're is anything too tricky in the list. Plus I'm working Sunday morning so can pick something up then if I need to.

I'm never fully relaxed until it's fine and in the fridge/cupboards though!!

Ocado are delivering tomorrow morning.

My husband is going out with son on Sunday to do some food shopping.

ChorleyFMcominginyourears · 20/12/2018 14:39

Got mine today, it was heaving! Just got to pick up my gala pork pie with egg and my yule log on Monday at my local bakers and get some fresh veg next to do there and I'm done

Zoflorabore · 20/12/2018 14:43

Saturday for me but we aren't having a Christmas dinner so it will be a weekly shop plus loads of nibbles and goodies.
I anticipate hearing about the fights over the last bag of carrots which happened at my local Asda one year.

Angelinthenight · 20/12/2018 17:52

Im a bit worried about doing mine tomorrow as it was so busy this time last year but its the last day to do it while the kids are in school. People were fighting last year as things went down to like pennies on xmas eve.

Main shop delivered today and thankfully without substitutions! Last year half of what I had ordered wasn’t available or was substituted for something random!

WitchesWeb · 20/12/2018 18:11

Went to two big supermarkets in this large city today and both were empty of people. Straight up to a till in both places.

Dottydoodoo · 20/12/2018 19:18

Did most of mine yesterday but I’m going to Tesco for perishables at 6am on Christmas Eve 😱 wish me luck!!

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 20/12/2018 21:56

Did my last bits this morning. Supermarkets were pretty empty, I was surprised.

Sunday afternoon. Not panicking at all. Maybe I should be. Haven’t done anything at all yet..

ShowOfHands · 21/12/2018 06:55

I'm going to the market on Saturday for veg and fruit and then Aldi on Sunday. Meat is all ordered to be picked up on Christmas Eve, as well as a hamper from the bakery. I'm hosting 12 people and am a little bit nervous.

caesio · 21/12/2018 07:01

Tesco are delivering 8-9 this morning (fingers crossed everything is there). Then I am going to have to go to Morrisons at 6am on Monday for fresh bread/lettuce/berries type stuff. Meat from butcher earlier in the week is in the freezer, aprt from the gammon which is in the fridge. Definitely trickier with the dates this year, like expiry date roulette, especially with online delivery where you dont' see the dates/quality before you pick.

wendz86 · 21/12/2018 09:27

Went to Tesco this morning to get a few bits (I’m not hosting ) and wasn’t too bad but was getting busier .

reluctantbrit · 21/12/2018 09:33

Just came back from Waitrose. I took DH with me as last year it was mayhem. A lot less busy today but still took a good while.

DH will get some fresh milk on Monday and then back on the 28th.

SilverDoe · 21/12/2018 09:39

I went on Monday for all non perishable stuff - chocolates, treats, some cheese and pate etc. I’ve also popped some stuff like ready made cauliflower cheese in the freezer.

Turkey is being picked up from M & S on Saturday or Sunday I can’t remember! Will be going out on Saturday for booze, veg and ham.

ApolloandDaphne · 21/12/2018 09:58

Just finished doing mine in Tesco. It was very quiet and they had everything I needed. Now having a celebratory coffee and cake before heading to Majestic.

MagentaRocks · 21/12/2018 10:06

I’m going tonight when I finish work at 11. We are not doing a Christmas dinner so I just need to get snacky stuff you can put in the oven and a few other bits. I’m looking forward to an easy day not doing very much watching Christmas films.

Mines arriving from Sainsbury's between 12 and 1 today. Had an email a few hours ago about substitutions which is pretty useful in advance as it means I know which items I'll keep or return when it arrives.

But only 3 things substituted- Gift tags, reindeer instead of x mas puds (the drama!) quality street instead of roses and linseed bread instead of sourdough , but they have the other sliced granary I ordered so really good as I only reserved my slot and ordered a week ago
