Just wondering what day everyone is doing their christmas day food shop,we are doing most of ours friday. Last year we did in on the friday morning and it was so crazy.

I plan on buying everything tomorrow from either aldi or lidl. Nothing pre-ordered anywhere this year so fingers crossed!

LakeFlyPie · 19/12/2018 21:51

Saturday 9pm, everything but bird which will be collected from butchers in Christmas Eve

sophisticatedsarcasm · 19/12/2018 21:59

Friday.
Off to get our fave bread from Waitrose as you can’t buy it anywhere else and usually has a super long date on it. Then to m&s to buy the Xmas Madeira cake then back home to go to co-op and use the points we’ve accrued throughout the year, Saturday going to bookers and then to m&s with DP to chooses the nibble for Boxing Day.

My Christmas delivery is coming tomorrow morning. I have picked up bits over the last few weeks and don’t really have that much to get anyway! I’m mostly using frozen veg so no worries about that lasting. If anything is missing I will pick it up on Monday (hopefully!) DH will go to Costco on Sunday to get the turkey and some salmon and maybe some croissants etc

Pinkyyy · 19/12/2018 22:12

It seems I'm the only person crazy enough to do mine on Christmas Eve Blush we collect out M&S order and get anything else we need whilst in there.

Justlikedevon · 19/12/2018 22:15

Im done, other than bread, milk and carrots which I randomly crossed off without picking up. Oh and collecting Turkey on Sunday.

poppym12 · 19/12/2018 22:20

Ocado delivery on Monday morning. We don't really eat any differently at Christmas.

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 19/12/2018 22:34

All my M&S stuff was dated the 27th apart from the turkey which is in the freezer.

mummyof2boys30 · 19/12/2018 23:19

When did u get turkey and what date was on it. I was hoping to go tomorrow

MarmaladeIsMyJam · 20/12/2018 09:09

I got mine yesterday, dated the 22nd I put it straight in the freezer

Megan2018 · 20/12/2018 09:14

We have Ocado deliveries Saturday and Monday morning. Will get anything missing from these on Sunday/Monday as can go to the shops as soon as the delivery receipt comes through with details of anything missing!

We have a turkey being delivered from a different supplier and have already got a lot of the non fresh things like crisps, nuts, crackers etc. So it is just fresh to come in the main.

catmon · 20/12/2018 09:49

Tesco delivery Saturday , will pop out for more buffet food Sunday (I'm not making traditional Christmas dinner)

ChristmasDaydreams · 20/12/2018 11:04

I’ve been and bought the food shop today but was very disappointed with the expiry dates on turkey and pigs in blankets (25th/26th) so am going to have to go back for a meat shop! Got all the veg though and puddings, sweets etc. We had all the alcohol delivered the other week when they were in a good offer Smile

Arrowfanatic · 20/12/2018 11:57

Got a lot already buy have a bigger shop to collect on Friday, and the turkey and veg are being delivered Friday as well.

Husband will brave Costco either Friday or Saturday for alcohol bits and then anything missing we'll just have to do without.

ApolloandDaphne · 20/12/2018 12:02

DH and i are going to 'the big Tesco' tomorrow morning followed by a trip to Majestic. Anything else i need i can pick up locally over the weekend.

MrsWidgerysLodger · 20/12/2018 12:04

Got just about everything bar meat and veg. Both pre ordered from local butcher/greengrocer so I just need to go and collect on Christmas Eve morning.

FireUnderpants · 20/12/2018 13:19

I have a morrisons delivery on Saturday with the usual week food and stuff for Boxing Day buffet. The Christmas Day food is being delivered Sunday. Previous years anything missing from that has been gotten Christmas Eve, DH circles the car park while I run into the store.

Last year I had nothing missing or substituted. I have my fingers crossed that it is the same this year! I have tonight to jiggle round in my online baskets.

TeenTimesTwo · 20/12/2018 14:03

I did the penultimate shop today.
Final shop will be Sunday this year as I am cooking the turkey on Christmas Eve for first time ever.

katienana · 20/12/2018 14:08

Tesco delivery arrives tomorrow morning. M&s order picking up on Sunday and will get my veg and some party food at the same time.

ChanklyBore · 20/12/2018 14:10

Two days ago

Whyislarryhappy · 20/12/2018 14:15

Saturday - to Iceland. Then nip in pounfstretchers to get sweets

BiscuitDrama · 20/12/2018 14:17

Online yesterday and then another online tomorrow for veg, cream and fruit (and a few other bits to bump it up to £40).

If you’re worried about dates, why not do the bulk as soon as you can and then pop in nearer the time for a few fresh bits? I’m always happier knowing the bulk is done.

mycatplotsdeath · 20/12/2018 14:18

Just got back from Asda.
It was fine, not to busy.
Got everything I needed with good dates on them.
Luckily this year Dd1 is hosting Christmas dinner so I didn't need any of that.
My wine and booze came on Saturday.

MaidenMotherCrone · 20/12/2018 14:20

I’ve just been. It was lovely and quiet. I need bread, strawberries and chicken livers on Monday. Quick cup of tea then time for Fridge Tetris.

AmmoniteMum · 20/12/2018 14:23

Did the bulk of it yesterday. I will send dh our on Monday for a few fresh bits, he doesn’t seem bothered by crowds of shoppers unlike me Xmas Grin
