Breakfast on Christmas day?

Hello!

There's me, DH, and the two DDs (aged 4 and 2) who will need breakfast Christmas morning. Would like to do something for breakfast a bit different to the normal cereal and toast, but ideally not too heavy as will be having a big Christmas lunch with my family from about 12.30-1ish. Was thinking of just getting croissants or something (which kids can eat whilst opening presents) but was wondering what everyone else is doing?

Pancakes and syrup for the DC and I , DH maybe scrambled eggs and toast.
Lots of coffee

Though you do know the correct answer is "Selection Box" Xmas Wink

EmmaJR1 · 14/12/2018 12:22

Toasted pannetone and butter! Yum

WhatWouldLeslieKnopeDo · 14/12/2018 12:23

Croissants, chocolate chip brioche, that sort of thing.

FireUnderpants · 14/12/2018 12:24

We have a huge fry up late morning, and we do not eat Christmas dinner until the evening.

Cherries101 · 14/12/2018 12:26

We don’t do breakfast as I tend to start serving the pre-starters from 10am (Indian family so we serve a lot of food!)

Chocolate form Stocking - then whatever DH requests (it's tradition that he chooses breakfast for us on Christmas Day, after a silly breakfast menu thing I did for Christmas one year)

Lat year was bacon sandwiches - prior was full english... have had muffins and coffee, cheese toasties... waffles, sausage rolls and brown sauce... kids cereal boxes...

This year it's pancakes, bacon and maple syrup =)

Nigella's Christmas muffins and a fruit platter.

LupinsNotBluebells · 14/12/2018 12:30

We're doing asda Xmas tree shaped crumpets for ds with scrambled eggs and English muffins for the adults. Muffins and crumpets already in the freezer ready. I wanted filling but easy and using as few pans as possible.

Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs, bacon for the non salmon eater . Funnily enough my 2 boys love smoked salmon, but DD loathes it

MakeAHouseAHome · 14/12/2018 12:33

Ours is either smoked salmon and cream cheese bagels with lemon, capers and dill sauce. Or Eggs Benedict :-)

TokyoSushi · 14/12/2018 12:35

I have smoked salmon & scrambled eggs, DH has a bacon sandwich and the DC's have something like pancakes.

Smoked salmon is literally my most favourite breakfast, I have it on my birthday, Mother's Day and Christmas Day! It feels like a real treat!

DaisyChainsForever · 14/12/2018 12:35

Croissants, Bacon sandwiches and Bucks Fizz here (just OJ for the little ones!)

elQuintoConyo · 14/12/2018 12:40

Gingerbreadman-shaped pancakes. DS got a shaped frying pan in his stocking one year, so that's what we have. Plus coffee and thick Spanish hot chocolate that you can stand your spoon up in Grin

Lunch is soup, breads and cheeses (Ritz crackers + Philadelphia Grin), serrano ham, pickled onions. Christmas dinner is around 7pm.

GlowWine · 14/12/2018 12:42

We have Panettone, like brioche but a bit more Christmassy. And cereal or toast for the ones set in their ways.

TamiTayorismyparentingguru · 14/12/2018 12:46

Chocolate orange, selection box and possibly croissants/fruit if anyone wants it.

I always prepare a big platter of fruit the night before - melon, grapes, pineapple, kiwi, raspberries etc and then it’s ready for anyone wants to pick at it. Full disclosure though - we often have a similar bowl/platter of fruit in the fridge anyway so this isn’t actually anything special. I’ll usually have some croissants ready but the likelihood is that they’ll get eaten on Boxing Day instead

Dogswithteddies · 14/12/2018 12:46

I make cinnamon rolls on Christmas Eve, pop them in the fridge overnight then cook them christmas morning.

christmaschristmaschristmas · 14/12/2018 12:48

Scrambled eggs with smoked salmon/bacon.

Orange juice. Proper hot chocolate.

If the kids want this great, if not I am happy for them to eat chocolate tbh.

saj90 · 14/12/2018 12:51

We alllllways have 'eggy bread' or french toast if you're posh :)

When we were kids we would sprinkle icing sugar on top. Yum!

YourEggnogIsBetterThanMine · 14/12/2018 12:52

A selection of ready-to-bake croissants and pastries with butter, nice jams, coffee, hot chocolate and juice. Christmas dinner at 2pm. Dessert selection around 4ish. Cheese and biscuits, fruit etc around 6ish. Booze and nibbles when the DC are in bed.

meow1989 · 14/12/2018 12:52

Scrambled eggs and bacon on toast made by my dad (on the job, never micro wave!).

And Buck's Fizz, obviously Grin

Doje · 14/12/2018 12:57

@dogswithteddies may we have the recipe please! I love the sound of this!

KitKat1985 · 14/12/2018 13:34

Oooh pancakes do sound nice.... [Licks lips]

Followed by a selection box obviously!

Think we're having eggs benedict this year - without ham because vegetarian, I may have smoked salmon though just to be extra fancy, so eggs royale Grin

Floating with the idea of cinnamon buns too..

NorthEndGal · 14/12/2018 13:53

Pulla, coffee and grapefruit
