Breakfast on Christmas day?

Hello!

There's me, DH, and the two DDs (aged 4 and 2) who will need breakfast Christmas morning. Would like to do something for breakfast a bit different to the normal cereal and toast, but ideally not too heavy as will be having a big Christmas lunch with my family from about 12.30-1ish. Was thinking of just getting croissants or something (which kids can eat whilst opening presents) but was wondering what everyone else is doing?

We've got guests staying over on Xmas eve and one of them is vegan so I'm doing a bit of selection of stuff to try and please everyone! (I'm not cooking Xmas dinner so I don't mind)
Homemade granola
Warm homemade cranberry sauce
Greek/alpro yogurt
Croissants, pan au chocolate and cinnamon swirls (jusrol throw in the oven suitable for vegans)
Panatone for me and Italian mother
Bacon and egg butties for whoever wants them.

We always go to my mums for breakfast and have pigs in blankets (my favourite thing ever), scrambled egg, beans and toast.

BrieAndChilli · 14/12/2018 14:18

we have xmas tree shaped crumpets and pastries - pan au choc, cinnamon swirls etc.

Tear and share Nutella wreath (homemade) and lots of coffee for the adults!

Grumpbum123 · 14/12/2018 14:27

Nutella Xmas tree Christmas Eve morning
Christmas Day it’s Smoked salmon and scrambled eggs on bagals for the children, Grandma and myself. Bacon sandwiches for H and Grandad. Dinner then around 1530

MrsCrapBag · 14/12/2018 14:32

We're having yogurt, chocolate brioche, fruit & OJ for breakfast then bacon butties when we get back from our walk. I've got mince pies & After Eights if we get peckish before/after tea 🎅

E20mom · 14/12/2018 14:33

Xmas chocs, then croissants then poached egg on toast and lots of coffee.

akmum18 · 14/12/2018 16:42

Always Asda chocolate waffles and Tesco hazelnut filled crossaints for us

Bubblysqueak · 14/12/2018 16:48

Chocolate, it's always chocolate.

Allsloppy · 14/12/2018 16:52

We always start the Christmas ham with poached eggs on toast for breakfast. Did it as a child and still do it with my 19 year old daughter.

Cooked breakfast here

Or those ready to bake pan au chocolate

caperplips · 14/12/2018 17:08

We have early morning coffee and stollen / pannetonne opening the presents

Mid morning a cooked breakfast or pancakes, crispy bacon & maple syrup, champagne with orange juice, more coffee and then something chocolate

Full Christmas dinner at about 7.30pm. Dressed up, table set nicely, loads of candles, fires lighting, music playing.

We have a 3 course meal and we are usually not finished till about 9.30 /10pm. We sit around the table chatting etc

This year we will be a group of 3 and will most likely stick to tradition

Doje

I'm so sorry I don't know how to do a link but the recipe is on sunset magazine web site Grandma Carroll's cinnamon rolls.

MeganChips · 14/12/2018 17:19

Eggs royale. It’s my favourite Christmas meal.

KitKat1985 · 14/12/2018 17:20

Oooh so many things I want to eat! Grin

Thanks!

Dogswithteddies · 14/12/2018 18:04

Glad you found it Doje!

yawning801 · 14/12/2018 18:05

This year I might try doing this rosti from Mary Berry, but there is a slight problem that fried eggs do not go down well over here!

Fstar · 14/12/2018 20:06

If you dont want to spend time on it i think the birds eye frozen pancakes and sweet waffles are brilliant, easy to eat, light and wont spoil lunch. You can normally get them in asda

DBN1 · 14/12/2018 20:08

Sausage rolls, mince pies, Quality Street, nuts etc., Baileys, Bucks Fizz or lager. That was always our Christmas breakfast Grin

YahBasic · 14/12/2018 20:20

Either DH’s homemade almond croissants or his doughnuts with berries.

Justkeeprollingalong · 14/12/2018 20:21

Scrambled eggs and smoked salmon on toasted bagels with champagne 🥂.
The kids are adults and we don't eat dinner until about 5pm!

Girlicorne · 14/12/2018 20:50

Chocolate, pastries and bucks fizz :-) we have dinner around 3pm.

Greensleeves · 14/12/2018 21:00

Croissants and brioche with Nutella for the kids and apricot preserve for us. Bucks Fizz. Stocking chocolate and selection boxes.

AdoraBell · 14/12/2018 21:12

I buy pastries from a coffee shop on Christmas Eve, put them in the oven to warm and freshen up in the morning.

My favourite is smoked salmon with scrambled eggs but that may more filling than you want.

And chocolate of course, the DC would never leave the chocolate Santa from their stocking until after breakfast.
