Breakfast on Christmas day?

Hello!

There's me, DH, and the two DDs (aged 4 and 2) who will need breakfast Christmas morning. Would like to do something for breakfast a bit different to the normal cereal and toast, but ideally not too heavy as will be having a big Christmas lunch with my family from about 12.30-1ish. Was thinking of just getting croissants or something (which kids can eat whilst opening presents) but was wondering what everyone else is doing?

We always buy the Jus-roll Cinnamon swirls for Christmas Day. Fun for the kids to cut them up, do the icing and feel like they are “making” them, 10 mins in the oven and not too filling. We only ever have them on Christmas Day too so it feels like a special treat.

When our DCs were that age I'd put a breakfast bar and carton of juice in their stockings so that they could munch on those on our bed while opening their stockings.
But otherwise croissants, brioche, panettone, or if I had time on Christmas Eve , id make cranberry muffins

We have croissants and smoked salmon here. With fizz or coffee - or both!

So many great suggestions thank you! I'm spoilt for choice!

As a kid we always had a huge cooked breakfast with all the extras you can think off and fresh juice/tea/proper coffee. I'd love to do that but actually, no one really likes it all except me and DH has bacon and eggs nearly every day so doesn't seem special. So we usually have pancakes or croissants/pastries with bacon and eggs and the kids like squirty cream and fruit with their pancakes.

We sometimes get frozen raw croissants. You leave them out to defrost and rose overnight and then pop in oven for 10mins in the morning.
