I've just painted a mug for my Granda who has advanced dementia, it says "always remember you are loved" and Ive got him a key finder because he hides his wallet, then is really distressed when he can't find it. I am so happy with it and I can't wait to give him it on Christmas Day.
I've got DH a pair of trainers he really wanted but they are sold out and we couldn't really afford them. He's trying to qualify for the worlds in ironman and these trainers are supposed to make a big difference. I know he'll be so shocked because we are supposed to be doing a small Christmas but I just can't wait to see his face

@twoheaped am very jealous. I grew up with pointers (all bred in North East) and would love another one.

They make the most wonderful pets

MairzyDoats · 07/12/2018 22:56

@MacNab it's from Etsy, let me see if I can find the link...

MairzyDoats · 07/12/2018 23:03

Ok so there's this one but I also liked this one.

SandrasAnnoyingFriend · 07/12/2018 23:03

I've bought my boyfriend a limited edition canvas screen print from an artist he likes. It's one of ten made and they've subsequently sold out so it's now pretty rare.

I've also bought DS1 some limited edition, velvet (?) Nike Air Force 1's that are right up his street.

I’ve got dd, 17, who is pregnant some nappy sacks, nappy cream, nipple cream, maternity pads, travel sized toiletries for hospital bag, bibs, baby wipes, a toy, cotton wool, baby scissors, baby hairbrush etc, plus bump’s first Christmas ornament, and put them all in a big cardboard box I’ve wrapped in Xmas paper.

LittleLlamaontheduskyroad · 07/12/2018 23:13

I'm chuffed that I've found a Ginny Weasley wand for DD1, she's going to lose her mind on Christmas morning.

Years ago my DH worked away from home and flatshared with someone who had testicular cancer.

Fast forward 8 years and not only has he had the all clear, but he has realised his life long dream of opening his own distillery. I have bought my husband a bottle! He will be delighted and I’m pleased to be supporting their venture.

HippyChickMama · 07/12/2018 23:18

There's a fairly insignificant place in the UK that, for various reasons, is very special to my best friend and her dh. I've bought them a vintage railway advert poster for the place, I think they'll love it.

Theweasleytwins · 07/12/2018 23:19

Ive crocheted my dad a manatee. We went to Florida 17 years ago and he said he loved manatees while we were there and brought himself a mug with them on. Its small but hopefully he will know i put a lot of thought into it. He is literally the nicest man ever and is so loving and kind

BrieAndChilli · 07/12/2018 23:24

We’ve got DD a phone. That’s not a particularly unusual gift but our ‘rule’ is to get a phone on your 11th birthday and as hers is in the summer holidays she keeps worrying she won’t be able to swop phone numbers with all her friends before they all go off to several different secondary schools. She keeps asking if it would be possible to get it a few weeks earlier so she has it for the end of term.
She is going to be so surprised to get it for xmas!

GooodMythicalMorning · 07/12/2018 23:33

Ps4 vr headset and 5 games. Dh will be very surprised I think. Its been a shit year with gran dying, lovely mil being so ill and work bring rubbish so he deserves a treat.

NotReve · 08/12/2018 12:07

I love this thread! I don’t really have any in particular this year, I’ve mostly gone with things people have asked for. Going to think if there’s something small and thoughtful I could add!

Please can people report back after Christmas on reactions Smile

Yes
My older DC had a jumper that he bought when he first "came out" and it meant a lot to him.

I stupidly shrunk it in the wash trying to get a stubborn stain out.

After 5 years of trying to find a replacement, I finally got one.

Bumbumtaloo · 08/12/2018 13:57

I got too excited and have already given it Blush DH and I have been together 10yrs this year and have faced some absolutely horrific times, stuff that we have worked through together and it has made us stronger. As much as I tell him I love him and appreciate everything he does (he had to give up work to become my carer) I wanted to show him. I found these books and so made him one, it took me months to actually do as although it’s a simple process I wanted to make sure I got everything in there. He was chuffed with it and actually shed a tear, we both did. He had either shown or told everyone about it Grin

I got my DH PlayStation VR too. He has wanted it for such a long time and has been fab this year. He thinks it is way too expensive but I got a great Black Friday deal.

I also got a painting done of my brother’s two boys as he is hopeless for printing out photos. I hope he loves it

BarbedBloom · 08/12/2018 19:10

@bumbumtaloo Argh! I looked at the love book and thought it was so cute I had to get one for my husband. I know he will love it, but have already gone so far over budget!!

Ragwort · 08/12/2018 19:16

I did have but it’s fallen rather flat Sad I found an advent calendar of a specific brand of chocolate that is quite unusual for a friend who loves these chocolates, I gave it to her on Dec 1st but she didn’t even acknowledge it, I feel a bit hurt really which I know is stupid but I though it was such a good present. And yes, I have seen her several times since I gave it to her.

Bumbumtaloo · 08/12/2018 20:34

@BarbedBloom Oops sorry Wink They are lovely books though. I hope your DH loves it as much as mine does.

NotReve · 27/12/2018 22:18

I’d love to know how these were received! None of my presents were that exciting but they seemed to go down well Smile

Fantasisa · 02/01/2019 00:25

Report back everyone to tell us what everyone thought!

livingthegoodlife · 06/01/2019 16:19

Mine went down really well, literal squeals of excitement!

Sorry to hear about the advent calendar not being acknowledged. It's sad when you put effort in and it isn't recognised. I made my in-laws a chocolate hamper with all their favourite things in, carefully sourced and hunted down. They then told me they gave it my 7 year old nephew over Christmas!!! I was gobsmacked. So rude.
