I've just painted a mug for my Granda who has advanced dementia, it says "always remember you are loved" and Ive got him a key finder because he hides his wallet, then is really distressed when he can't find it. I am so happy with it and I can't wait to give him it on Christmas Day.
I've got DH a pair of trainers he really wanted but they are sold out and we couldn't really afford them. He's trying to qualify for the worlds in ironman and these trainers are supposed to make a big difference. I know he'll be so shocked because we are supposed to be doing a small Christmas but I just can't wait to see his face

This isn't a Xmas present but bought Lego Millennium Falcon on Black Friday for HD's birthday. He knows it but ds doesn't and looking forward to his face when dh opens the present. Ds is huge Lego Star Wars fan but knows that he is not getting the set. He has been suggesting himself that we should get it for daddy.

TheKnackeredChef · 07/12/2018 05:56

This jumper for DS. He's going to love it. Grin

Some custom Vans for dd. They are fab.... turquoise with loads of cats printed on!

diamondofdoom · 07/12/2018 06:05

I bought my DP a personalised book from our 2 year old DD. It says 'Reasons why I love you' and it's got lovely things they do together on each page,so excited! I got him a paid of Doc Martens from me.

I've got my DD mauis hook from moana and moanas necklace. And my mum an Echo. It's so nice when you get older and are much more excited to give than to receive Smile

mathanxiety · 07/12/2018 06:28

One of my DDs mentioned casually that she would like to play an instrument, so I found one that is portable, easy to schlep on a plane, fairly easy to tune and play, sounds nice, won't annoy roommate or neighbours while learning, won't drive cats nuts, and is perfect for someone who spends a lot of time texting - a kalimba.

And I am getting DS Red Dead Redemption 2.

Zoflorabore · 07/12/2018 06:34

Dd is obsessed with Our Generation dolls (she's 7) and saw an OG wheelchair on YouTube that was only available in America.

A family friend tried to get it for me last year in Florida but it was too big so that was that.
This year it's in Smyths! And I got it. Comes with wheelchair/crutches/cast and she will be over the moon.
Funny what makes them happy Smile

FixItUpChappie · 07/12/2018 06:35

I got my husband a really nice Name brand winters coat for 1/2 off regular price....he is going to love it 😁

Fantail · 07/12/2018 07:35

I’ve enrolled DD in a chocolate making class. She loves cooking and especially watching the cake decorating shows on Netflix. I just have to think about how to present it

PatchworkElmer · 07/12/2018 07:41

DH is getting a wooden watch. I think he’ll love it 🤞

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 07/12/2018 07:44

I feel slightly cheeky about this as I didn't buy it but I won a signed shirt and ball for DS's favourite sports team recently and I am saving them to give to him at Xmas. He's going to love them!

AmIAWeed · 07/12/2018 08:26

My PIL are coming for the first year ever - on their side of the family adults do not give or receive gifts which I always feel is a huge shame as I love buying presents.
This year I've said my house, my rules - so they both get a stocking to open when husband and kids get theirs as well. Nothing expensive as they would feel uncomfortable but lots of little things I know they'd love. Particularly looking forward to the nanoblocks bus and socks reading 'if you can see this bring me tea' for my FIL
They've always been really great to us and have had a rubbish year. I want them to know every little gift has been picked especially for them

makingmiracles · 07/12/2018 08:45

I preordered an lol dolls house back in August as a spur of the moment thing in anticipation that they would be sold out near Xmas. She is lol mad but hasn’t ever mentioned the house, so I can only conclude a) she’s not seen it on (UNlikely) or b) she’s seen it on utube, heard the price and not mentioned it because of the cost. Can’t wait to see her face

trixymalixy · 07/12/2018 09:42

Indoor skydiving experience for all of us.

Also I’ve made mugs for my sister, cousin and aunt with quotes from our favourite Xmas children’s programme which we all watch each year and quote to each other.

macnab · 07/12/2018 13:43

@MairzyDoats would you mind sharing where you got that please? That's my mum's favourite film too and I know she'd love something like that!

Loyaultemelie · 07/12/2018 13:50

My Dd1 is history obsessed (awaiting asd diagnosis but this particular obsession runs in the family!) Saved hard and got her a really gorgeous wooden castle bundle with knights and cannons and horses. She will lose hours to that! Also got her a suit of armour and a medieval queen dress so she can look the part.

VanellopeVonSchweetz99 · 07/12/2018 13:55

Yes KawaiiBox for DD (nearly 8) - thanks for the tip MN!

girlinleeds · 07/12/2018 14:05

Dd loves porg from star wars, she's seen the porg lego set and really wants it. She'd already written her Christmas list so was told it was to late. Santa always brings her one present and this year its the lego set, I'm so excited for her to open it

PutYourBackIntoit · 07/12/2018 14:10

We're not doing traditional gifts this year but our present to ourselves and our 3 children is hiring a motorhome for the week, so that we can drive around the country and see my Nan and my very poorly Dad, as well as other family. We're going to leave the motorhome on a nearby road and leave them treasure maps at the foot of their beds instead of stockings. The treasure maps will lead them to the motorhome where their stockings will be waiting inside.
I hope they're not disappointed with lack of bigger gifts, but this year particularly it was more important to make sure we could spend time together. I think they'll love it, can't wait!!!!

IToldYouIWasFreaky · 07/12/2018 14:23

Girlinleeds have you seen the Porg bubble bath in M&S? It's super cute!

Hoppinggreen · 07/12/2018 14:27

Dd (13) has several pets but it’s impossible (for reasons of them eating each other) to get a photo of them all.
I have got a cartoon artist to draw a picture of them all together from individual photos and it’s brilliant! She’s even managed to include DD’s mangled slipper the Ddog loves to carry round with him
Can’t eat for her to open it

Isadora2007 · 07/12/2018 22:01

I got my sister a key ring with our late gran’s handwriting on it. I give my sister and best friend an advent box every year and this keyring is my sisters 24th “little thing”. It’s way above budget but I wanted her to have something special as she hasn’t got an easy life and is an amazing person. And she was my Grans favourite! 😂

twoheaped · 07/12/2018 22:12

I have got my dh a puppy, I pick her up next week.
We got some German Pointers when we started living together way back. We lost the last one of them in 2016, at the grand old age of 16.
My dh was heart broken and now, I think he is ready to have another GSP in his life.
The breeder we got our original 2 from died not long after we got ours and the one I am getting has that bloodline in their lineage.
I waited a long time to find that bloodline again.
My 2 dd's have known since October and have managed to keep schtum, we can't wait to see his face. He absolutely is not expecting it.

  • I wouldn't normally condone buying a puppy for Christmas, it is just the way the litter fell. We work with dogs, having another one will not be an issue.

@RocketPockets, Snap! I got my DH the same book! Smile

HereBeFuckery · 07/12/2018 22:22

By complete chance I've got DD a coding robot.
Since then she has asked Santa three times for a robot (once in a letter, twice at Christmas Fairs/Grottos).
Yay!
