Stocking fillers for 11/12yr old boy?

Ds is almost 12 and so hard to buy knick-knacks for. He’s not interested in stationary, art/crafty stuff, I’ve bought him a couple of books but aside from the obvious selection box I’m finding it hard to think of ideas for things he’ll like that isn’t just buying stuff for the sake of it.

What do you put in for yours at this age? He’s fairly typical - loves gaming, football (but doesn’t support a team), chocolate, sweets. He’s a bit past little Lego sets and the Technic ones he likes are too expensive for his stocking or he’s already got them. I’ve already bought Exploding Kittens, a squishy and am getting him a hoodie he’s asked for. (He’s asked for the squishie too)

Xmas Smile

Does he like Top Trumps? I put those in DS (11) stocking. Fun pens, wee torch, that kind of thing.

BerylStreep · 12/11/2018 19:44

I got a head massager, electric rubber for school, and Waterstones have a bloodshot eyeball that he wanted.

PiggeryPorcombe · 12/11/2018 20:05

Top Trumps might be an idea. Although I loathe playing them haha. He’s definitely not interested in fun pens or anything like that. I might see what the bloodshot eyeball is though Grin

Go to Tiger - they have lots of different funky stuff. Bought DS a squishy brain from there one year.

I’ve got DS1 who is nearly 12 a brain puzzle ball thing, a new phone case so far.

BerylStreep · 12/11/2018 20:25

It's called a Flashing Slide Eye Ball

mamaduckbone · 12/11/2018 20:31

I’m in the same boat with my 13yo - trying to avoid the plastic tat that just gets stuffed in a drawer. I’m getting sticky notes, a charging cable, USB stick, pens, books, smellies, pants and socks, and FOOD (main interest!) - a chocolate spoon, American sweets, fudge etc.

mamaduckbone · 12/11/2018 20:32

Maybe a (small) PlayStation gift card, DVD...

PiggeryPorcombe · 12/11/2018 20:32

Love the eye ball!! That’s in my basket now. Will have a look at Tiger as well. Thanks.

Match attax ? They do tins & single packs of cards
Nice deodorant / shower gel / gel
Shin guards
Goalie Gloves
American Candy

Notquietrichenough · 12/11/2018 20:34

I just have a walk around Tiger with a basket. I can spend hours in Tiger at Christmas.

VanillaSugary · 12/11/2018 20:37

Placemarking. Sorry.

FoofFighter · 12/11/2018 20:49

Rubik's cube?

Willow1992 · 12/11/2018 20:49

A puzzle? My DSS 11 can spend ages with 3D puzzle things, like the wooden ones, laser maze, rubicks cube etc. He also liked addictaball though that's more coordination. He is very patient/persistent though!

You can also get little handheld versions of a retro games consoles (like SEGA megadrive) with loads of games on for about £20 which is a good novelty for someone who likes gaming.

PiggeryPorcombe · 12/11/2018 20:51

He’s past Match Attax sadly.

Shower gel set a good idea though.

He’s getting pants and dressing gown on xmas eve in lieu of pyjamas as he doesn’t wear them.

American sweets are a definite winner.

Might look at a phone case and one of those knobby things that they stick on the back.

He does like a calendar for his room too which I’d forgotten.

Dd (10) is so easy to buy for and I’ve always kept their stockings kind of equal ie a book each, Lego set, card game, kind of his and hers, but it’s not that easy this year as she’s all Smiggle and Claire’s and he’s, well, not!

He’s getting a console as his main present so not going to get anything else for gaming.

He might like a puzzle we could do together actually. Already has a Rubiks Cube.

PiggeryPorcombe · 12/11/2018 21:11

Ooh I’ll get him some nice hair gloop, he’ll like that.

What are the anti-stinky shoe football things @Taffeta?

I’d like a yard of Jaffas myself Grin

Well I’ve ordered an eye ball, sneaker balls and a popsocket today plus a supercar calendar. Then in the petrol station they got huge meter long bars of Galaxy for £5 so I got one of those too. Almost done thanks to this thread so thanks for the suggestions Flowers
