Stocking fillers for 11/12yr old boy?

Ds is almost 12 and so hard to buy knick-knacks for. He’s not interested in stationary, art/crafty stuff, I’ve bought him a couple of books but aside from the obvious selection box I’m finding it hard to think of ideas for things he’ll like that isn’t just buying stuff for the sake of it.

What do you put in for yours at this age? He’s fairly typical - loves gaming, football (but doesn’t support a team), chocolate, sweets. He’s a bit past little Lego sets and the Technic ones he likes are too expensive for his stocking or he’s already got them. I’ve already bought Exploding Kittens, a squishy and am getting him a hoodie he’s asked for. (He’s asked for the squishie too)

Xmas Smile

Someone on another thread said pringles tube, I might do that for DS (he'd love it).

PiggeryPorcombe · 14/11/2018 06:51

Do you mean a giant Pringles tube? I’d forgotten that I’d seen those in B&M.

Runs off to B&M...

PiggeryPorcombe · 14/11/2018 08:48

I’ve just looked online and they’re only showing this Pringles cracker for £2.99 but instore they had a giant one about 1 metre long.

My DS is 13 and last couple of years have included

Magic expanding flannel
Soap on a rope (last year was death star one)
2 x packets Dr Oertker pud in a Mug
Giant choc coin
Choc sprouts (M and S)
Stickers (this year will be Fortnite stickers from EBay)
Socks
Keyring
Satsuma (to be ignored obvs!)

Try to avoid novelty tat as far as possible as just ends up in the bin....

(Stealing the Venus fly trap idea)
Pjs
Slippers
Badges (overwatch and fallout)
Headphones
Glow in the dark Xbox one controller
Gameboy travel mug
Few Lego minifigs

Notso · 14/11/2018 10:08

My 14 year old has got so far,
Tiny hands,
Shower stuff,
Super warm socks for camping,
Greggs voucher,
Costa mini syrups,
Guitar pick maker,
Pringles cracker,
Squash balls

I'm thinking of adding a couple of character t-shirts from primark,
Some gloves,
A Lego scout mini figure
A key ring,
A usb hoover for his pc

BlueChampagne · 14/11/2018 13:21

DS1 (11) still enjoys Beano annual.

PiggeryPorcombe · 14/11/2018 14:14

I had a look at the venus fly trap kits on Amazon and the reviews were appalling so I’m going to get an actual plant instead I think. Great idea though.

He’s getting the Roblox annual from someone else but might have a look for a different one.

I know he’ll get a Lynx gift set off a family member but think I might get a nice “blokey” face wash.

Dare I ask what tiny hands are?

So glad I started this thread Flowers

My ds 12 will be getting
Chocolate orange
Cycling gloves
Magnets for his magnetic board
Pants
Socks
Highlighters
Box of riddles
Hot chocolate sachets
American sweets
Torch
Beano
Giant chocolate coin
Lynx

mumtoboys · 14/11/2018 16:35

Cacti are better than Venus fly traps in my experience as Venus fly traps are very fussy and hard to keep alive. My boys' both have a big collection of cacti.

WipsGlitter · 14/11/2018 17:03

Oh cacti!! Good idea!!

FrancesHaHa · 14/11/2018 18:25

I have an 11year old boy I need to get a small gift for. Lots of mentions of American sweets - what kind of things are they and where do you get them?

HalfBloodPrincess · 14/11/2018 18:31

@franceshaha I got mine from amazon - just type in American sweet hamper. All different sizes/prices.

I also got my Dd a bag of cherry jelly beans - you can buy bags of individual flavours.

EightToSixer · 14/11/2018 18:40

DS (12) has
Fortnite socks
Fortnite beany
Keyring torch
Chocolate orange
Pringles
Cans of Dr Pepper (novelty being that they're his to have when he wants without asking, doesn't normally get cans)
A mini bin for the spare room where he does his gaming
Fortnite annual (£3 Lidl)
Iq puzzle
Top trumps
Chocolate coins
Cat pens
Cat spoon
Earphones (cheap £4 ones)
Pants
Socks
Charging cable
Haribo
Hockey sock tape and stick tape (as he will need it anyway throughout the year).

It's a pillowcase! But it's all we open until lunchtime. Most Fortnite and cat bits were from wish so we're around £1 each.

PJs and hot chocolate on Christmas Eve as a present from the cats. 😁

FrancesHaHa · 14/11/2018 19:01

Thanks Halfblood, I'll have a look

Theperfectchangeling · 14/11/2018 19:12

AWWW too late, I got the Venus fly trap in a tin already! Oh well! 😂

Theperfectchangeling · 14/11/2018 19:12

I feel like the poor fly now... 😂

YerAuntFanny · 14/11/2018 19:40

Mine has:
Bike computer
Bike bottle/cage
Car book
Big Toblerone
Chocolate coins
2 mini cans Fanta

PiggeryPorcombe · 14/11/2018 20:46

B&M has American sweets. I can highly recommend Mike and Ikes Blush

Balloon helicopters. Really cheap and they'll have a laugh with them together for a bit.
Little bag of little Lego equivalent that makes a tiny car etc.

2018dramaqueen · 19/11/2018 16:24

I’ve got my 12 year old a New Zealand chocolate bar selection and a Japanese sweet selection from amazon, he will love trying them all out!

Notso · 20/11/2018 22:10

@PiggeryPorcombe tiny hands! I'd like to point out I did not pay this much for them I got mine for 75p in WHSmiths clearance section.
