Ideas for 20 year old daughter

I am at a complete loss this year on the present front! My daughter has made no suggestions and it’s driving me insane, I’d love to get started buying presents but have no clue. My daughter is 20, obsessed with History (studying at uni), and is quite girly. She likes her makeup, but has loads and it isn’t something I feel I can buy without her being there. She also loves Drag Race, not sure if that helps! She really loves handbags but already has quite a collection from her savings - two Louis Vuittons, a Chloe and a Mulberry - I can’t really afford to compete with the likes of these, but buying one around the 300/400 mark would be okay. Jewellery wise she likes Alex Monroe and Tiffany, but again those twozseem a little uninspiring at the moment. Anyone got any suggestions from nerdy things to glam girly things?

TIA

Contribution to a trip to somewhere of historical interest

Presume she has a wireless speaker? Both mine have the UE Booms and they are really pleased with them....

Thanks, redjelly. This looks like what I am after, one for a boy, one for a girl. I am guessing they are unisex!

I have a 20 year old at uni as well
I have already got her the John Lewis beauty box advent calendar - pricey but good quality - I give it to her Christmas morning so she gets them all at once - she loved it last year and asked for this again
And a set of make up brushes from beauty bay
I'll get her some stocking presents from this works and some silver earrings
And some money towards a trip away with her boyfriend
She is 21 in February so I'm thinking of what to get her for then as well so can't go too overboard at Christmas

At that age when I was at uni my mum made me a hamper of luxuries that I couldn't afford and that lasted a whole year - was amazing. Nice hot chocolate, posh bubble bath etc.

Last year Prada in Bicester had some gorgeous cross body purses - really dinky. £3/400 IRC. So something similar, which she can use if she’s going clubbing?

If she likes make up you won't go wrong with a morphe brush set or an eye shadow palette. A voucher for beauty bay/ morphe could cover that too.

If she wears false eyelashes the brand Lilly is very upmarket and popular atm. A set of Miami's!Envy

On the subject of Miami, if she likes designers a pair of Jimmy Choo Miami's would probably be well received. Or a purse? Double Envy

Or what about a voucher for a very naice spa stayover for you both after Christmas?

Unlimited cinema card?

Lots of acts from Drag Race do gigs in smaller venues all over the uk. You could buy tickets for a few of those...they tend to be in comedy clubs, and arty type theatres/pubs.

Ru Paul has a pocket book of wisdom, which is fun.

How about a 'one piece' onesie. Expensive but fab.

My dd is also 20. She needs a new phone so she’s asked for an upgrade.
As surprises I have got her workout leggings & top from Victoria secret(on sale), a couple of regatta tops(also on sale) & a pair of adidas superstars that I know she really wants. Her stocking will have the usual chocolate Santa & a few make up bits. Her Xmas eve box always has new pjs, socks, mug & hot chocolate.

RaspberryFlump · 03/11/2018 10:52

So far I’ve got my 20 DD, also at uni, a subscription to National Geographic and some bamboo clothing from BAM clothing.

Bearbehind · 03/11/2018 12:30

I think it’s going to be quite difficult for people to come up with suggestions given a £200ish Michael Kors or Longchamp handbag has been dismissed because it’s less than the Chole and Mulberry bags she already has.

Either you’re in the league where you can keep up with her expensive tastes or you have to stop trying.

Georg Jensen has amazing jewellery

A spa gift where you take your mum isnt a present!

In fact any gift where the giver goes with you isn’t a present, it is like the giver is buying a gift for themselves.

I'm struggling with 19 year old DD this year.

She's also away at university, so I haven't been able to pick up on any little clues like I have in other years.

I'm going to give cash, and am debating whether to get her an instant camera to use on nights out and trips. Not sure if it's a bit babyish or not.
So tricky now! Gone are the Argos catalogue page circling days! Grin

We bought DD a gold hammered coin for her 21st as she adores history. Then had it set into a necklace (without damaging the coin) she loves it.
Other things that have gone down well are clothing from peopletree, fancy teas, penhaligans perfume an antique pen and history books.

festivelyfoolish · 03/11/2018 15:48

Tickets to florence. If you love history, few places have more per square metre.

happychange · 03/11/2018 16:07

Love Monika vikander jewellery! Especially the stacking rings 😍

Wormwoodm · 03/11/2018 16:09

Ohh nice thread. The previous mulberry designer has a company called hill & friends which make nice designer bags, some of which are within your budget.
Other ideas would be some Maria tash earrings, or Laura lee also does lovely jewellery.

I am mid twenties and love my UE boom.

morekidsthanhands · 03/11/2018 16:34

I haven't read the suggestions so sorry if this has been mentioned!
If she loves drag race what about tickets to drag con or for one of the drag race shows?
If she likes makeup there are lots of really good makeup advent calendars which could give her new things to try. I bought the m&s one it's brilliant and only £35! Or a subscription to a beauty box like glossy box or birch box.

Knittedfrog · 03/11/2018 16:39

A sprocket

TurquoiseWeekend · 03/11/2018 16:41

I'm sure I saw drag race PJs in Primark the other week, for a sort of add on present.
What about some boots or trainers? Or nice perfume?
