What do you all have to eat on Christmas Eve? Don't think I want to do a big meal to keep us all looking forward to Christmas dinner.
I'm thinking maybe a little buffet but would like some extra special things 🙂 will be me, DH, DSD6 and DD8months.

When I was a child and even till I was about 26 my parents had neighbours round. My dad would make a curry and my mum made a lasagna. Everyone else brought a plate to share. Lots of alcohol!!
We now live abroad. We have a chilled evening with friends with buffet style food . It’s a lovely laid back night

We have baked ham, roasties, broad beans in parsley sauce and carrots. The rest of the ham we have with cold turkey on boxing day, followed by turkey and ham pie the day after.

Pulled pork in brioche buns and coleslaw - easy, we all like it and nice but not too much.

I normally serve a confit of duck. You can buy them already cooked and canned in French specialty shops and brown them very easily at home.

Always served with roasted potatoes, sprouts, stuffing and green bean casserole (American here).

Normally some kind of pie, pecan or cherry, for desert.

We have pigs in blankets and chips

RockingMyFiftiesNot · 21/10/2018 16:07

Hot pork baguettes with coleslaw, in front of a film on the telly (not allowed the rest of the year! )

IronyFreeAnnie · 21/10/2018 17:24

We have everyone one round for a full on Christmas dinner. Means we can relax and enjoy Chirtsmas Day.

DinosApple · 21/10/2018 21:47

Ham and pea soup with crusty bread and some of the ham in coke ham. Yum!

starfishmummy · 21/10/2018 21:53

We cook a ham and have a hit roast meal on Xmas eve, with the rest as cold cuts over the holiday

BobbinThreadbare123 · 21/10/2018 22:01

We have a gammon, with mustard mash and veg. Pineapple and fried egg. Then usually there isn't pudding but there might be lots of chocs. The gammon lasts ages for the nicest butties.

PP who said they hate turkey; me too. We've done roast beef, beef Wellington or a goose for years now. I don't care how much people reckon they can moisten a turkey, it is not that tasty!

Possibly a bit wanky, but we do a 'Bethlehem Feast' where we have a buffet meal of hummus, pitta, Baba ghanooj, olives, cheese, meats, falafel, salmon, pomegranate salad etc

It feels Christmassy calling it that, but it's essentially just DH's favourite type of meal with a new name! Plus, will be easy to feed my weaning baby this year.
