Thought I’d do a ‘how to’ for a couple of things people often post about not being sure of

To do click links you do this put link in here then a space then the name or phrase you want to go with the link . Don’t put a space between the start of the link and the and then last word and the like I have or it won’t work but I had to to demonstrate.

To follow the thread without using up a post to mark place you can click on ‘watch this thread’ at the top of the first post.

No affiliate links please.

Referral thread here

Second message has a few links and info which I’ll slowly build up, let me k ow if there’s anything you’d like me to add to it Thanks

I think.. You creates book first then put in code... But double checking that.

It the only one I have used, I find it really easy to use but I can't compare to others. Dh has done photo books with other companies and I can't see difference.

Groupon has photo book offers almost rolling basis. Usually 6 months I think to use the voucher...
Maybe try one?

Momasita · 13/10/2018 14:48

I did 3 books on one go 100 page + two 20 page books and did it over two days easily

@catanddogmake6. Lurker here but I recommend that you google Guided Access for iPad/iPhone/iPod.
Once set up: Settings> General> Accessibility> guided access
You just press the home button three times and the device is stuck on the app. So my kids have an Enid Blyton audible addiction (Jan Francis narrates them really well) and I just tap thrice and know that they can't access anything else.
To unlock you press home button three times again and enter a passcode (on my iPad I have to set the passcode anew each time, on iPhone 6 & 7 and iPod touch it is always the passcode I set originally. It is great.
They are allowed some tv time now and I have locked the iPad to iplayer so I know they can only watch BBC stuff. It can interfere with broadcasting to Apple TV sometimes tho'.

lifelongfrugaleer · 13/10/2018 15:36

Way behind but some one on the last thread asked about Christmas plates. B&m have some lovely ones in. They get them every year for the last 3

Moana123 · 13/10/2018 15:36

Thanks for the Toys for a Pound info - I’m off to place a rather large order now 😁

Ratbagcatbag · 13/10/2018 15:38

Toys for a pound is fab. After spending a lot last year on a none used advent calendar, the fabric one is coming back out now. Some of those blind bags will be perfect in them. ☺️

Looking to buy a couple of the schleich sets for my daughter..... does anyone know if they get reduced around black Friday?
The cheapest i can find them is 69.99.
It's the jungle research station and the big adventure waterhole.
Many thanks!

Monkeymonstermum · 13/10/2018 15:45

@catanddogmake6 I have the same dilemma but I think I’m going to go for an echo dot and a Spotify subscription.

SleeptightDaisy · 13/10/2018 16:27

Thanks for all the ideas

Duchessofealing · 13/10/2018 16:44

15% off at the white company using AT404 or AT456 - also free delivery (non sale only) - to redeem in store you need the card - this was in with today’s Times newspaper

Redrosebelle · 13/10/2018 17:01

Has anyone seen a reversible sequin soft toy that isn’t ridiculously expensive? My son likes them but not enough that I’d spend £20 on one! A small hand sized one would be fine..

Monkeymonstermum · 13/10/2018 17:06

@Duchessofealing thank you!
I’ll wait to see if anyone else replies with
20% today and if not order tomorrow with this (although I think the 20% are few and far between..).

1stTimeMama · 13/10/2018 17:10

@RedRoseBelle I've seen sequin toys in The Range, not sure of it matters how boyish they are, but they were animals.

@Whenasuitcasejustwontdo that would be lovely!

OhMyGodTheyKilledKenny · 13/10/2018 17:10

RedRoseBell - does it have to be a toy? If not, Tiger do reversible sequin notebooks and (I think) pencil cases.

TimeForMy10thCuppa · 13/10/2018 17:43

Hello all. Can someone help me out, I am trying to use stock informer to get hold of a lol doll house. Last year with the big ball I got an email when it came in stock. This time I'm not getting emails. What am I doing wrong?
Secondly, and anyone suggest a cheap handheld gizmo to play games on. I need to be able to get a Pokémon game on it. Ideally not too expensive be ause D's isn't into gaming much so not sure how well it will go down.
Thanks in advance .

Redrosebelle · 13/10/2018 17:55

Ideally a teddy yes as he’s got a couple of T-shirt’s and won’t leave them alone!! Haha!! Thanks I will try the range.

Hedgyhoggy · 13/10/2018 17:57

I’ve got 20% for white stuff

timeformy10th perhaps a DS? I'm sure you get Pokemon games for those.

CheekyFucker · 13/10/2018 18:08

I can vouch for Toys for a Pound. Very good service too. Still amazed by my bargains from there.

Thanks @Momasita, I have looked and it does look like you can make the books, save them, then purchase a code and redeem it later.

I have spent the last 45 minutes playing with various sites and software packages. In case it helps @Reastie and others, here is what I found:

Colorland, Photobook UK and Printerpix always seem to have photobook deals on Groupon. Photobook UK has dire reviews so I discounted them. CEWE offer £10 off your first book, but don't seem to discount much other than that. Truprint have 60% off photobooks and 70% of 60+ page photobooks until 1st Dec.

I downloaded the CEWE software, and it was a joy to use. Really easy to copy whole pages from one book to another if you're working on multiple projects and add photos etc. I tried making a photobook on the Colorland website but it was a little glitchy and each page, even without photos, took an age to load. Maybe an option if you don't have a big book to do, but I would die of frustration. The Printerpix webiste was much more user friendly and, whilst it would take me at least twice as long as it would with CEWE, was something to consider. I also looked at the Truprint website which I've used before, which was similar to Printerpix, maybe a little easier, but that could be because I am more used to the format.

CEWE charge £70.79 plus delivery for their basic 100-page hardback A4-ish sized book (£10 off first order)

Colourland have a running deal on their site of a 112-page A4 book for £10.99 plus £5.99 del and £2 to remove their logo. There are various Groupon offers around the same amount.

Printerpix's base prices are similar to CEWE, but they seem to have some sort of permanent discount running and are on Groupon too. £10 for a 100-page hardback book plus £4.99 delivery, cheaper if you buy 2 or 3. I think you get a further Groupon discount if you are a new customer too.

Truprint works out about £26.88 plus delivery for a 100-page book with their 70% promo (TREATBOOK70)

I still have Photobox to try out. They have 50% off photobooks at the moment, but it ends in 2 days, so too soon for me. My flash player didn't seem to want to work with their site, so I'll have to come back to that one later...

I am thinking that I'll probably start creating a book with Printerpix and see how I get on. It's too much of a saving not to try!
