Thanks Fluffy

EmilyRosiEl · 06/10/2018 16:29

Did anyone try the sausage roll last year?

QueenOfIce · 06/10/2018 18:52

Does anyone know if their ready cooked gammon is nice? Not the plastic type? It would save me doing it. and messing it up

YeTalkShiteHen · 06/10/2018 19:09

Yes it’s lovely, my auntie always has one at new year and it’s a favourite for the whole family.

April2018mom · 06/10/2018 19:32

I have the Sainsbury’s annual Christmas food brochure. I looked at the pictures.
So far I have decided to order the scrumptious butter and mushroom tarts for starters. Also possibly pork chipolatas and cooked turkey breast too. I’ve also looked at other options too. My partner wants meat and dessert too. For pudding I either will buy some cheese filo tarts and festive sausage or pork pie.

emilyrose
My mother had the sausage roll garland last year which was very nice- I fancy the ultimate Log this year as it looks very sausagy!!

EmilyRosiEl · 08/10/2018 19:16

Thanks Yorkshireyummymummy,! the Log looks really nice too- just have to decide between that and the garland now.

Queenofice- the gammon is lovely.

April2018mom, the mushroom tarts from Sainsbury's sound nice- might have a quick look!

leghairdontcare · 08/10/2018 19:21

I usually order from M&S and the food is lovely. However, last year was absolute chaos in the store and I had to queue for 90 minutes to collect my food. I want to contact the store to see what they've put in place to stop this happening again otherwise I'll have to order from somewhere else.

Ratbagcatbag · 15/10/2018 15:26

I’m so so stuck on this. It’s just me on xmas day and then Boxing Day it’s me and my five year old. BUT the salmon encroute looks amazing.
Do I get it even though it’s just us two (and then I’d obviously have to order the snowbomb cake too!). I don’t normally make much of Boxing Day, but I do wonder this year as my DD is having Xmas day with her dad if I make Boxing Day, nice easy, lazy food and PJs.

lauryloo · 15/10/2018 15:27

i am tempted to order a stuffed turkey breast this year to save any hassle, i normally do a full turkey and make my own stuffing but i spent all day cooking and with a 3 and 5 year old, that's not fun for them

Bumbumtaloo · 15/10/2018 16:24

I wish I never opened this thread! The desserts look amazing and there are 3 or 4 I want to order. I’m having a small argument with myself about them, there is only 4 of us 2 adults and 2 DC possibly MIL. I can’t actually decide which one we’d like the most so would have to get more than one Grin

ifiwasabutterfly · 15/10/2018 20:09

Does anyone know how much of the food is also available in store off the shelves. In particular the veg - pre prepared parsnips, sprouts & chestnuts etc?

goose1964 · 15/10/2018 20:12

Anyone else think it's overpriced, there's very little there that I couldn't make for a lot less.

yorkshireyummymummy · 15/10/2018 23:42

goose we could probably all make it for less.
But Christmas is about time with family, not saving 50p on a giant sausage roll ffs!
It’s not overpriced - it’s good value when I consider the time saved and how delicious it will taste. Also, a double rack of lamb French trimmed from my butcher is more than £18, turkey crown is £12per kg from my butcher - M&S is £10 per kg. So it’s not always the expensive option You can’t make a turkey , you have to buy it.

I hope you have a great time making the chocolate cake with the mirror glaze for less than £15 - including your time don’t forget. It would cost at least £5 for a box of the decorations on the top of the mirror glaze so good luck in bringing it in for less than £15 ......and the same goes for most things!!
Happy Christmas!!

yorkshireyummymummy · 15/10/2018 23:43

Oh and I’ve done my order.
Got scared that things might be so popular I wouldn’t get them!
Hope I get some envious looks when I pick mine up!

NachoCheese22 · 16/10/2018 07:52

I honestly think it's good value for money goose Plus, at Christmas I value my time more than ever so I'm happy for M&S to pick up the slack Grin

SymphonyofShadows · 16/10/2018 08:15

ifiwas a lot of the prepared veg will be available separately, and various turkeys/crowns. They also release other desserts that are only available in store in the last week.

I always buy a great big pack of ready done mash, big Prawn cocktail thing and an extra pud in store.

CottonSock · 16/10/2018 12:59

Wish I hadn't looked either, I'm on a diet.. bake off on telly tonight and I already have all those puds in my head..

2BorNot2Bvocal · 16/10/2018 13:10

Ratbag you go for it! A snow bombe is practically compulsory.

BarbaraofSevillle · 16/10/2018 13:37

Does anyone know how much of the food is also available in store off the shelves. In particular the veg - pre prepared parsnips, sprouts & chestnuts etc

I would have thought you could get all that in store. They have loads of veg side dishes anyway, and they'll more Christmas themed close to Christmas. A couple of years ago, I got discounted big trays of roast potatoes in store between Christmas and New Year.

And even before Christmas, it's cheaper to buy in store than from the catalogue and it's exactly the same stuff with the cardboard packaging removed. I saw it on TV a couple of years ago. Something that was £4 in the shop would come as 2 packets and cost £10 for example.

So unless there's something in the catalogue that you must have or you want very large quantities, I'd just buy in store and go early in the day on the 23rd or 24th.

ifiwasabutterfly · 16/10/2018 14:47

Lovely thank you - our Christmas is going to be a bit last minute so don't want to order things we might not need if I can just grab in store if necessary.

XiCi · 16/10/2018 18:43

Can someone link to the ready cooked gammon please. I cant see it on the website and I'd really like to save some time by having one

BroomOnTheRoom · 16/10/2018 21:47

Does anyone know when they put the party food on there? I can't see it - perhaps I'm being a fool!

I usually order a few of their gluten free canapé selections to eat on Christmas Eve.

Trumpton · 17/10/2018 01:49

@XiCi
