What do you want for Christmas?

I'm sure this has been asked, but I went back a few pages and couldn't see it. What do you want for Christmas? I can never think of anything. I also have my birthday a couple of weeks before, and can never come up with ideas. So far I'm thinking theatre tokens as I haven't been in ages. And I'd love some decent cake tins.

What about you?

(PS I am actually already getting what I really want for Christmas, which is going to family for Christmas dinner and not having to cook!)

The only thing I can think off is a magnetic strip for my kitchen knives so I can walk mount them and get more room on the workbench.

I’ve got a Birthday next month and apparently no ideas are needed for that as I’m getting presents I didn’t know I wanted, but really do. I’m scared lol

QforCucumber · 13/09/2018 14:24

A new Emma Bridgewater mug, a Samsung galaxy watch (not happening) and some dollars as we're going to Las Vegas in February

Hellohah · 13/09/2018 14:25

I am going to ask for new running gear, or a nice coat.

Treats · 13/09/2018 16:06

Some new earrings and a decent leather cover for my phone. Also the largest possible box of Hotel Chocolat chocs and one of those flavoured gins I keep seeing.

foxyknoxy30 · 13/09/2018 16:07

A jo malone candle or a Pandora ring and if I am really good hopefully both 😃😃

TroysMammy · 13/09/2018 16:11

A potting bench for my new shed, shading blinds my new green or a voucher for a few bags of compost.

lightonthewater · 13/09/2018 16:14

Family harmony. I don't really want things.

EdisonLightBulb · 13/09/2018 16:16

A new IPad. Mine is a really early version, keeps crashing and was second hand when I got it (DH's reject).

I never thought I would, but I actually cant live without one now, but the one I have now is really slow and my typing when on Mumsnet is sometimes spectacularly appalling because it slows right down, crashes or the predictive text gets all confused.

Oh god yes, Hotel Chocolat like the poster above!

Jo Malone’s Sandalwood and Orris cologne
A new Bose speaker

Pumpkintopf · 13/09/2018 16:22

I'd like an Apple Watch. Didn't think I wanted one but now dh and ds both have one I think they are useful! Or a Fitbit.

Nicknamesalltaken · 13/09/2018 16:23

I was just thinking about this today.

I’m going to ask my partner to come over and sort the Wi-fi out properly. So it reaches all the rooms.

It would bring me joy and improve my quality of life. I can’t think of a better present. I really do mean to do it myself but it seems too complicated, I don’t have time to figure it out, and it’s too big a job when there’s a million other things to do first.

OMGItsPierre · 13/09/2018 16:25

A 32 inch computer monitor.

Annandale · 13/09/2018 16:26

I'd like a Fitbit too but not expecting one.

Some dollars as we are going to the US next year and it's currently touch and go whether we can afford to buy anything when we get there...

Wooden salad bowl
Milk frother
Any beads, especially bracelets, however cheap and cheerful, but hoping to avoid smellies of any sort
Sue Gregor cuff, except I've just bought one for myself Blush
I'm going to take ds to an escape room for his birthday but I'd be gutted if I missed out myself, so would be quite happy to get a booking for one of those.

PristineCondition · 13/09/2018 16:30

Taskmaster book
Bum length dark grey Cardi
Dp to build me a raised veggi bed for or teeny garden

iklboo · 13/09/2018 16:36

Honestly? A bat zookeeper experience, nice afternoon tea and stuff to make more gin with.

showmeahero · 13/09/2018 16:38

A lovely leather jacket please Santa 🎅

ShowOfHands · 13/09/2018 16:39

Secateurs
A ride on a steam train

EggMayonnaise · 13/09/2018 16:40

Some Jo Loves candles. Although I'm thinking of treating myself to a Christmas one once they're available.

I love Jo Malone candles and really want to try a Jo Loves one to see which brand I prefer!

Pumpkintopf · 13/09/2018 16:48

@Nicknamesalltaken we've just installed these - https://m.shop.bt.com/products/bt-whole-home-wi-fi-088269-CDXH.html?utmsource=awin&utmmmedium=affiliates&utmcontent=ZA00&clickid=&gclid=COmJnc-puN0CFYyOhQod2E4JDA&gclsrc=ds00&utmmsource=awin&utmmedium=affiliates&utmmcontent=ZA00&awc=30431536853550012a03aa3e492a8afea1bf75296906e98

Life changing. We now have decent Wi-fi everywhere in the house and so easy to set up. You can even see on the app on your phone if any of the units has a dodgy signal and which devices are connected to each unit (plus can boot individual devices off, useful if the DC's won't do their chores!)

Sorry to derail but thought it might be helpful.

Flatasapancakenow · 13/09/2018 17:51

My birthday is before Christmas, but between now and the new year I would like:

A new shed-sized chicken coop (would very much like this one!)
Bread maker
Slow cooker (although I blow hot and cold on this one)
A nice reed diffuser

OneNightTimeMenaceStrikesBack · 13/09/2018 18:01

i've already had my main gift which was a new pc being built for me but that aside, i'd like some smaller bits, some perfume, some comics, nice chocolates and maybe some nice houseplants. I don't need or want much really. i am buying myself some glittery dr marten boots for my birthday at the beginning of next year though

umpteennamechanges · 13/09/2018 18:42

I'm struggling to come up with a list (which my DH is already asking for!)...

Probably:

  • Mahabi slippers
  • A nice liqueur of some kind
  • A curated perfume selection (you get various samplers that are from perfume houses you might not know about)
  • Vouchers for the garden centre
  • Breadmaker
  • Vouchers for spa treatments
  • Some nice chocolates
Pinkyponkcustard · 13/09/2018 19:27

I would love one of those hose pipes that shrinks back to their original size so I don’t have to keep unraveling the big heavy one every night in the summer.

heatherblue · 13/09/2018 19:31

A backgammon set, preferably a really nice antique one but would settle for less. I used to have one in the 70s/80s and recently had a hankering to start playing again.

Bumbumtaloo · 13/09/2018 19:37

Boring stuff; pyjamas (which I have already bought and put up), slippers (have put them up too), dressing gown, socks, nice shower stuff, a box of maltesers and a couple of books.

We are upgrading my phone early (will cost around £60ish) so I’m going to have that for Christmas - it will be wrapped and under the tree.

(When I say I bought, DH was with me. Decided to get them there and then as I’m very fussy about my pyjamas and slippers and it’s all joint money anyway).
