And I'm stupidly excited Grin
Have never done Christmas crafting before but I want to make as much as I can this year and give homemade gifts and cards.

Can I ask what crafts are you planning?

springsummerautumnwinter · 11/09/2018 14:37

What have you got planned?

I am making Christmas cards, but haven't got anything else planned at the moment. I need inspiration.

AdventuresRUs · 11/09/2018 14:39

O,ooh Im in. I am planning a baker ross order to do bits with the kids though!

Reaa · 11/09/2018 14:42

Rea, I did something similar to the Reindeers over 2 fingered kitkats for all of DD's class one year - a mix of Snowmen and Santas.

A plain Santa (red strong paper, a strip of black for boots and another for a belt, a strip of white at the top of the boots and a beard shape at the top (no face, just from the beard down), and a gold belt buckle. Oh, and 3 black circles (which I made by punching black card with a 2 hole punch, and opening up the punch for the results).

And a Snowman. Plain white paper, with a black paper top hat, drawn on eyes and mouth I think (felt tip), orange paper carrot shape, stripey paper as a scarf, and 3 more black hole punch circles as coal lump buttons down his middle.

Another year, I filled small treat/candy bags with chocolate covered raisins and a card with a "Reindeer Poop" poem stuck over the top. You can get the poem on the web in various places, and some have toppers to print. And there are also poems for "Snowman Poop" (white bonbons, or white hard shell chewy mints).

I don't know if it still works, but the website "One Pretty Thing" (I think) used to round up loads of ideas, and you could then get lost in various blogs and store sites for ideas....Pinterest may do the same job these days.

I've made Santa sleighs with chocolate previously and I always have demands for more. It's basically hot gluing candy canes on a kitkat for runners, then piling the 'sled' with more chocolate and then a chocolate father Christmas at the front of the sled.

Not super high class crafting but very popular Grin

BiddyPop · 11/09/2018 18:04

Ooh, you could make the sled edible if you use melted chocolate as the glue! (Or does the hot glue making it inedible protect its structural integrity?!)😁

GummyGoddess · 11/09/2018 19:27

Everything is in wrappers, let me find my inspiration photo

GummyGoddess · 11/09/2018 19:29

Here! Either hot glue or normal glue, I just found hot glue easier and it didn't seem to melt the chocolate.

FIL ate his in one go, DH then worked out how many calories were in them to annoy him Grin

I didn't ribbon them and I used different chocolates. My friend put a net of coins on the back as a Santa sack which looked great too.

Excuse the triple post, I'm very tired!

Reaa · 11/09/2018 19:42

Biddy
Thank you for more ideas, I will try them too.

Gummy
Thank you the picture is great, going to try them too and try different ways, I'm sure my DC won't mind testing them for me.

I did these cards with the kids a couple of years back and they looked brilliant. The trick is to use expensive watercolour paper so when the kids tear it, it looks like the tutorial. Very quick to do, so they didn’t get bored and we had an “assembly” line
to make a bunch of them.

Thank you.

I might start with DC tomorrow and see how they turn out, I think I have everything needed already.

I have a handmade business so do this for a living but I love making things with my ds he loves making Christmas cards and gift tags with my stamps and professional inks. We normally have Christmas music on and he could do it all day.

springsummerautumnwinter · 23/09/2018 16:27

I made some simple (but I think affective!) Christmas cards this afternoon. Love hearing about all of your makes.

And I think fake snow or Cotton wool may look better with the snowman card.

I really don't like the Christmas tree one

OP posts:
GummyGoddess · 29/09/2018 20:23

I think the Christmas tree one would be really nice without the decorations on the tree to keep it with your simple theme. The cards are lovely, are you enjoying making them?

comeagainforbigfudge · 29/09/2018 20:31

Aw i love the snowman one. The christmas tree would look better without the silver 'studs' as im calling them framing the card. They are drawing my attention away from the tree iyswim. It works well on the other card though

Reaa · 29/09/2018 23:39

Without the studs and the last one I made.

I am enjoying making them, DC abandoned me half way though.

I have glitter to do something with next week Grin

I think the Christmas tree one looks too plain now, it could be the card is too big for that size tree, will try same design on a smaller card next.

OP posts:
GummyGoddess · 30/09/2018 13:01

The tree on a smaller card would be a lovely gift tag.

springsummerautumnwinter · 30/09/2018 17:11

Love the little bambi one. Very cute.
