What do you guys have for breakfast on Christmas Day?

We're going out for dinner so I'm planning a nice breakfast. We always have Bucks Fizz!

Nigellas Christmas morning muffins for anyone who wanted it Xmas Smile

Last year we had a Scandinavian rice porridge, full of salted butter, sugar, cinnamon and a healthy pinch of sea salt. It was so so delicious! It was quite the effort though and made an absolute ton. The idea is to make pancakes with the leftovers for Boxing Day but we were too lazy!

Definitely will do it properly this year though and make them. I also like to put loads of the cinnamon sugar in my coffees over the Christmas period. Grin

Everyone's food sounds delicious!

We go for a nice posh unsliced loaf of bread. Breakfast is toast with thick butter. Sometimes jam. Tea. Bucks Fizz. Usually part of a chocolate orange.

Love the idea of frozen croissants cooked at home so will definitely be trying that this year!

despite planning cooked breakfasts, bacon rolls, cereal, smoked salmon.... oh the list is endless...... DH has overuled and said for one day of the year the kids can eat chocolate, crisps, sweets whatever they like. I've compromised and given chopped fruit which they ate last year, and was pleasantly surprised that the kids were quite good and didn't go bonkers. He's right, it's one day only.......

WeeM · 25/08/2018 15:31

Usually a roll and square sausage or a croissant...like the sound of the frozen ones, that’s a good idea. And Buck’s Fizz...obviously Grin

rainingcatsanddog · 25/08/2018 15:57

The kids like pancakes while I like a bacon butty.

Mustangsallyis · 25/08/2018 18:05

Panettone

TheGirlWhoLived · 25/08/2018 18:31

We usually have bacon sandwiches on crusty unsliced bread (homemade if kids were up early and I've had time Grin)

Then the prosecco comes out, followed by christmas dinner at about.... 2?ish

ReservoirDogs · 25/08/2018 18:43

Croissanta or pain au chocolat whilst opening the presents.

Leatherboundanddown · 25/08/2018 18:45

We have pigs in blankets rolls! Soooo good

happymummy12345 · 25/08/2018 18:46

Nothing. I never ever have breakfast, dh will have his usual cereal, and ds will have cereal or toast, depending what he wants. I'll have a glass of fizz (not ruined with orange juice either).

Branleuse · 25/08/2018 19:32

selection boxes

Xenadog · 25/08/2018 23:26

Pork pie and pickle. Maybe with a slice of gammon too. It’s all about the pig in our house!

WutheringTights · 26/08/2018 10:47

Variety pack of cereal and chocolate for the kids, Nigellas Christmas morning muffins for the adults. We have breakfast as soon as the kids wake up and have opened their stockings though so 6.30am ish. We then do presents and have an early lunch/brunch of bacon and sausage sandwiches, then we do Christmas dinner at 5pm ish, which is the time the kids usually have their dinner.

I'd love to have Christmas dinner at lunch time, the kids would probably each more of it, but we have family driving 90 mins to come to us and they'd never get here in time (they don't like to be rushed in a morning). Really annoys me as my kids are quite young and they're usually too knackered and over excited to eat much if any dinner.

funmummy48 · 26/08/2018 10:49

Chocolate! We never, ever do this at any other time of year but on Christmas Day, it has to be chocolate. ☺

NoWordForFluffy · 26/08/2018 11:14

@WutheringTights, just tell them you're serving at 1 (or whatever) this year. I do think that if you're hosting you do get to give the time of dishing up to them!

I can't imagine dictating the time of dinner to my hosts, bearing in mind how much trouble they're probably going to for me!

trancepants · 26/08/2018 13:04

I like to do as little as possible on the 25th so breakfast is something I've baked on Christmas eve. I like to make a banana bread batter with half oat flour, bake it in a large round cake tin, so it doesn't get too high. Then on Christmas morning use Christmassy cookie cutters to serve it in Christmas shapes. I make a magic custard cake with blackberries frozen from autumn foraging. And I do these really nice healthy breakfast brownies. All served with strawberries, melon and pineapple. I also whip cream on the 23rd and freeze it in tiny Christmas tree moulds which is fun to add to piping hot, hot chocolate or coffee.

ChristmasPlanner · 26/08/2018 14:28

This year I'm thinking of doing brioche French toast with maple syrup.

Goldenphoenix · 26/08/2018 14:36

Ham and fried eggs is my family's tradition but as my husband hates those things we also have pastries (frozen home bake ones). Now kids are a little older think i'll do a nice fruit salad too
