What do you guys have for breakfast on Christmas Day?

We're going out for dinner so I'm planning a nice breakfast. We always have Bucks Fizz!

OP posts:

Eggs Benedict.

Kintan · 24/08/2018 23:20

We have croissants and smoked salmon. And champagne for those that fancy it, coffee for those who don't :)

CherryPavlova · 24/08/2018 23:20

Nothing much as were in a rush to get everyone out to church. A few gold coins and a banana or slice of toast.

aperolspritzplease · 24/08/2018 23:23

Buck's Fizz and croissants, frozen ones you bake. We like to save room for the feast!

MichonnesBBF · 24/08/2018 23:23

See I don't eat breakfast but I do cook xmas dinner for 12 every year, however I do have kids so from when they were 1ish I have always put an individually wrapped croissant or cereal bar, juice box, chocolate coins, piece of fruit and a small slice of malt loaf in a personalised tin, inside their stockings to eat while opening the presents upstairs before the fun begins down stairs.

I have thought about breakfast for when they are older and smoked salmon, bucks fizz plus patisserie's will defo make an appearance.

TheLionQueen1 · 24/08/2018 23:24

Buck's Fizz and chocolate fingers Grin

Stompythedinosaur · 24/08/2018 23:36

Pancakes, croissants and bacon buttie here.

TheWoollybacksWife · 24/08/2018 23:37

Orange juice and toasted panettone (the chocolate chip one from Morrisons is our favourite) with strawberries. If there is any champagne left from Christmas Eve I may have a glass and a cup of earl grey tea.

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 25/08/2018 00:05

Late-ish, because we don't have Christmas dinner till around 5 - bagels with smoked salmon, cream cheese and Buck's Fizz. Nice and easy.
That's the adults. GDcs might have pancakes or whatever earlier.

InterstellarSleepingElla · 25/08/2018 00:17

I normally do smoked salmon, scrambled eggs etc. Last year I did a plate of pastries (croissants, pain au chocolate etc) for everyone to help themselves to and served with hot chocolate -was way better than normal, so much more relaxed! I shall be doing the same again this year (was served early whilst presents were being opened) and this year I will follow with bacon butties as we are having Christmas dinner elsewhere and won't be eating until late.

Last year we had French toast made with thick slices of brioche, and lots of cinnamon, vanilla and nutmeg in the eggs. And bacon cooked in the oven with a drizzle of maple syrup.
Served with juice freshly squeezed from the oranges Santa leaves in the stockings.

Candyflip · 25/08/2018 04:46

Variety cereal pack is bloody genius!! I remember how excited I was as a child with those! We have smoked salmon and caviar blinis. Very special and delicious, but not too filling for the ridiculous over consumption later!

OliviaStabler · 25/08/2018 04:47

Toast and tea.

My family like Christmas dinner quite early so we can't have a massive breakfast.

Squirrelblanket · 25/08/2018 06:53

We have croissants filled with bacon. And bucks fizz!

FilthyforFirth · 25/08/2018 07:03

Another one with festive shaped pancakes here! And Bucks Fizz obviously :) We eat at lunchtime so dont like to have a heavy breakfast.

Almostthere15 · 25/08/2018 07:52

Last year we had Waitrose cook from frozen pastries with coffee and orange juice. It worked well as we had in-laws over who like an early lunch. I'll repeat the breakfast but bring all finished with lunch by 2 was strange for me and meant I had to provide "tea" rather than point people in the direction of the fridge for leftovers with part bake baguettes so that's not be repeated.

Dc have a treat cereal like lucky charms or frosties too.

Chocolou · 25/08/2018 08:01

mouseratfan did you make the muffins yourself? They sound delicious

NoWordForFluffy · 25/08/2018 08:27

We do bacon sandwiches for the adults and pain au chocolat for the DC. With drink of choice, so some have tea / coffe and some I have fizz.

I did Nigella's muffins last year, which were gorgeous. I'll definitely be making more of those for general Christmas snack purposes.

WilmaJean · 25/08/2018 09:31

Smoked salmon and scrambled egg Smile

fieryginger · 25/08/2018 10:44

Home made eggnog.

Anyonewhoknows · 25/08/2018 10:46

Pork pie, bread and marmalade washed down with champagne.

OhHolyFuck · 25/08/2018 11:11

Nigellas Christmas morning muffins (make the batter the night before so it's literally just putting it into muffin trays and in the oven) and Buck's Fizz/coffee depending how much sleep I've had!

VillageFete · 25/08/2018 11:35

Must look in to these Nigella breakfast muffins...

It varies every year, depending on if we have guests for breakfasts, or if i’m cooking Christmas dinner or if we are eating out. In general it’s lots of chocolate, a hazelnut coffee, pain au chocolat, French toast, crispy bacon, lots of bucks fizz.

ipswichwitch · 25/08/2018 11:35

Last few years I’ve done a tray of cinnamon buns, croissants, pain au chocolat, and some Christmas tree crumpets so everyone can pick at those all morning. That (and the chocolate!) keeps us going until we have Christmas dinner at about 4.30ish. Means I’m not messing about in the kitchen while the kids are opening presents. Will be adding muffins to the table this year though mouseratfan those muffins sound lush!
