What do you buy a 2.5 month old for Christmas?

We have to get something as the older ones will notice and wonder why baby has no presents. The baby isn’t going to care one way or the other though. I’m at a bit of a loss what to get.

Books, bath toys always come in handy. But you're right, it's totally pointless. My ds was around the same age at his first Xmas and I bought him bugger all.

Wrap up some "new" baby grows ie the 3-6month ones. A new book and a rattle? Those bath finger puppets u get in primark?

Tummy time toys, soft books, rattles, etc.

Get him some summer clothes for next year in the sale now.

What about a canvas print of baby and siblings along with a few toys? Plate, cup and bowl?

This bath toy is pretty good - it's not hollow, unlike most bath toys, so there's nowhere for water to go disgusting inside. Ours lasted absolutely years.

I’d go for stuff you’d buy anyway - so maybe clothes, sleeping bags, weaning stuff, toys for 9-12 month time before their birthday, maybe a feely book.
Take a look at Aldi this week for baby event and Sainsbury’s for tu event (I get sleeping bags from there, bibs with arms are good too)

I made a toy box for DS who was three months. Pine chest from Argos, wooden letters from Hobbycraft to spell his name, blue glitter paint and white emulsion.

Toys for 9-12 month time before their birthday

This! If they're only 2.5 months at Christmas, it will be a long stretch til their birthday, so get toys that will occupy them at the developmental stages in the mean time. We did this for DD last year (September birthday) and put the toys she wasn't yet ready for away in a separate box - it's been so useful being able to delve into it and whip out something new throughout the year.

Dd will be a bit older at Christmas but her presents will be mostly stuff she can use a bit further down the line. Clothes for 6-9 months and 9-12 from the various sales. Just picked up a couple more "That's not my ...." books from Aldi as well as a plate, bowl, cup and cutlery set.

Her stocking will contain mostly socks and tights I think. Plus a Christmas decoration as everyone gets one of those.

Thank you. There are some good ideas here. The canvas idea prompted me to look at snapfish and they have some wooden panels you can get a photo printed onto so I’m considering one of them. I already bought some clothes in a bigger size in the sale so I will wrap them up. Yesterday picked up a that’s not my cow book at aldi. I won’t be buying loads more things but I like the look of the octopus for the bath in particular.

How about a baby gym? We had the fisher price rainforest one it was great.

A cd with nice music - I had classic fm for babies dd slept well with that.

But as people have said but things you need rather than nick backs and endless "my first Christmas stuff" which won't get much use

DS was that age at his first Christmas. His main present was a jumperoo.

We always bought a glove puppet for ours for their first Christmas. Our oldest was only one week old on Christmas day so had no interest in anything but we bought it anyway and it became one of his favourite toys. It was something we would play with with him rather than something he played with on his own of course but as his siblings came along the puppet had more and more use.

I'll assume as you have older DC you have hand me downs. Any of the hand me downs that need replacing?
Any sets that can be added to ie Toot-toot or Happy Land?

DC2 got a baby gym and some books.
Socking was bib, dummies and socks

Not a lot. A new outfit and a rattle type toy or a board book.

How about a little baby paddling pool. You can get very sweet ones and probably in the sale at the end of the summer. And in a few months when your little one is sitting up you can put play balls in it or it can go outside in the summer. A couple of rattles or a beepy play phone are ideal too.

Babycare not card. Lol

I would wrap up a few nicer things, like babygrows and vests, that you would have obviously just dressed your baby in anyway. And then I would buy some toys and books, some that are suitable now (like the sensory/touchy books and rattles and sensory toys) and some that will be suitable for in a couple of months time.

One of the photo websites, I think photo box do board books now. One of those with pictures of family would be good.
