I believe it's day 190

HOW did we get past the 200 mark so fast? And only 12 Days until Christmas in July starts, for anyone who celebrates that.

I've just made my mincemeat. It smells like Christmas!

I've also been to the allotment and cleared loads more. I have itchy, scratched, arms now. 🙈 I've attached photos of how it was when I left it last time and this time!

Someone asked the farmer to dump a load of manure on my cleared area. Bit cheeky as it's clearly been cleared for a purpose! I spoke with another bloke there though as he told me to just use it if I want, as it's free!

BBTHREE76 · 28/07/2018 23:35

Hi all
I have finally caught up on the many posts I have missed. Big hugs to anyone that needs them. As usual I tend to go a bit OTT in jan sales then have a bit of a lull till now. DD (18) almost finished. DS (almost 15) is more challenging. He literally wants cash and gift cards. I have no issue with him having this but I am still going to buy stocking fillers etc to pad it out. All I have for him so far are - the obligatory Lynx set, John Wick pop figure, Simon optix game.

BBTHREE76 · 28/07/2018 23:42

Couple of items where the collective eyes of the Xmas mumsnetters could really help me.... we want to get SIL a tassimo or dolce gusto as cheap as possible. They are down to £40 in B&M but £30 would be better. Am I being unrealistic. Also in Xmas eve box last year DS got Star Wars pjs and slippers (from primarni) and star wars dressing gown and socks (from ASDA). All similar pattern/colours. He has specifically asked if he can have a full set of something again this year. I have said that Xmas sets aren’t out yet and that the choice in men’s stuff isn’t as good as women’s but will try. Does anyone know of any good men’s sets around?

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 29/07/2018 00:19

Star 150 Star

Nice round number Xmas Grin

I was looking round TKmaxx today (buying clothes for my teenage DS) that shop is not good for me.
Trying to hold my bags while searching through the random packaging, nothing in order, half the things out of the boxes.

I love Home Sense and could spend hours in there , seldom leave empty handed.
I nearly ran from TKMaxx and wil not be Christmas Shopping there !

NoWordForFluffy · 29/07/2018 06:17

Morning! DD woke us coughing just before 6. I could cry as I'm still exhausted from the holiday and back to work tomorrow. Ah well, I can power through 4 days!

It's very wet here! I think we will be the only mad people on the allotment today. But, I really think that with a few hours' work it'll look amazing! I hope. I'm just intrigued at how far back it will go as it's so hard to tell right now with all the weeds being so high!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 29/07/2018 06:31

Morning! Hope your DD's OK Fluffy. Flowers

DS2's been playing on the tablet in bed since 5.30. He's finally caught up on sleep. Adventure means late nights every night. I'm in bed drinking coffee. Brew

NoWordForFluffy · 29/07/2018 06:47

She has a tendency to croup, so her coughs do sound quite bad, even if she doesn't develop full croup. Both kids are quite snotty, so maybe a summer cold.

What's Adventure?

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 29/07/2018 06:54

It's a charity, they run an after school club, holiday club and childcare. They also do trips in the holidays, and they've liaised with a Christian organisation for the camp that DD's going to next week. They pick below yr3s up from school in termtime.

Toomanycats99 · 29/07/2018 07:04

@BBTHREE76

I reckon you could get little bit lower than £40. Last year got one including big bundle of pods for £35 straight from Tassoimo. Think I paid £35 from John Lewis year or do before. Just check tank size. If she will be making lots at a time some tanks are bigger.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/07/2018 07:08

Sounds good, PSB!

NoWordForFluffy · 29/07/2018 08:20

Oh my god. The mincemeat smells amazing!

lostlalaloopsy · 29/07/2018 10:02

fuffy hope your dd is feeling better.

70s I always forget about TK Max, I'll have to check it out for some Christmas bargains.

We are off to see Little Mix tonight. It's my dd's first ever concert, not sure how she'll like it to be honest!! It's meant to rain so that will not please her!!

anitagreen · 29/07/2018 12:25

Just found this thread and feels like the best day ever! I've just download the Christmas countdown app, and a Christmas present list I am going to start shopping tomorrow! I love Sainsbury's little gifts for stockings Grin

flapjackfairy · 29/07/2018 12:34

So after the shittiest year ever ( started with dear dad dying in jan and carried on from one catastrophy to the next ever since ) i am finally feeling like looking forward and need something nice to focus on. My usual all year round christmas spirit is beginning to return so just popping on to say hi to all fellow christmas lovers.
It will be a strange one this year in view of recent events and i feel guilty at the thought of trying to enjoy it and i know it is still july but i love the dawn of sept and the school year as for me it heralds the proper start of the festive build up. I already have quite a lot of bargains squirrelled away but shopping and planning begins in earnest once sept dawns .
Anyway place well and truly marked now .

flapjackfairy · 29/07/2018 12:36

Hi anita it was replying to your post on the active board that nudged me to get back on here so thanks for that and welcome aboard.

FireflyGirl · 29/07/2018 13:11

Morning all.

Hope your DD is feeling okay, Fluffy. Excitement at being home?

Lost they did a gig near us recently and my friends took their kids aged 4.5-13, and the kids loved it. Apparently the worst thing was middle aged women turning up drunk and bumping into the kids. My friend said as much as her DD (8) enjoyed it, she enjoyed it more Grin

CrazyBaubles · 29/07/2018 14:55

Lost I'm from South Wales 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁷󠁬󠁳󠁿 Jealous of your location - DH & I plan to retire to the Highlands in a million years when we're allowed to stop working
How is the crochet going? I'm struggling to think what to make for people this year!

Fluffy I bet your house smells lovely with the mincemeat.
Allotment looks good too - I wish I could grow food but I'm rubbish in the garden.

Welcome anita🎄

Flapjack welcome back. Sorry for your loss 💐

The weather has turned here (hurray)! It's been raining almost constantly since Friday evening and last night we managed sleep without the fan.

Being quite lazy today, did a small Tesco shop, cleaned the freezer after it was defrosted yesterday and will do a roast dinner soon. Only other plan is to crochet something, although I'm not sure what yet.

NoWordForFluffy · 29/07/2018 15:32

Afternoon. Back from the allotment and aching like buggery now! I don't think I'll ever be rid of mud from under my fingers! It was monsoon season as well, so we got quite wet, though I was wearing waterproof coat and trousers, so it didn't get through to me! 😁

We've still got 3-4m to clear, but scored some free blackberries from a load growing on the side of the plot! Crumble tonight (after they've had a salt water soak to remove bugs!).

DD seems OK, but they've been shipped off to the inlaws today so we could both do the allotment! Apparently they've been really good.

Welcome Anita, and I'm glad you're back, flapjack. Sorry to hear about your shit year. Flowers

It is a really good place Fluffy. We all (the parents) donated £2 and they've opened a community kitchen. It's really lovely!

Had slow-cooked beef in red wine with creamy potato gratin for lunch. 😋🍷

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 29/07/2018 16:08

My aunt just put this doubt in my head: is a tankini OK for school swimming? Confused
