I think she struggles because she's so anxious and she's lying there worrying about things.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 07:28

Lying in the dark doesn't help you get to sleep. Give her a torch and let her read (her own books! 😂) until she falls asleep. Or DD often draws by the hallway light. Also, I adjust DD's bedtime to when she fell asleep last night.

WreckTangled · 30/05/2018 07:35

She has a little clip on lamp for the side of her bed for this purpose so I'll remind her of that. Thanks. It's so easy to get carried away in the moment at night when you just want them to bloody sleep and leave you alone Grin

WreckTangled · 30/05/2018 07:36

She's still asleep now the one day I want to leave the house at 8!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 07:49

I'd wake her up. It's like if it's a school day, DD has to wake up, she should be fully rested at 6.40, so I wake her up. Usually at weekends or in the holidays I can wait for her to wake up at 8.30ish. 9.30 yesterday, because she didn't go to bed until 11. Hmm

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2018 07:57

I think you say cues where I say routine. Sleep cues for babies are specifically those signs they give when non-verbal to show they need sleep.

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2018 07:58

Like these.

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2018 08:44

Mrning all Smile
off to our fave haunt today Goldcliff [smile[
Hope you dd is ok Wreck , l can remember being very anxious about dying at that age ,it used to fill my mind all the time. I was a strangeling lol
Well done on the workload Fluffy !
Better go Goldcliff awaits!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 09:18

Sleep cues for older children and adults means things we do that cue our brains to think "time to sleep". DS2 can't sleep without his thumb and Bear. I can't sleep without a pillow and a cover, and the cover has to be right up over my shoulders. Routine is really a series of cues. Sorry, I've read too much about insomnia! 😂 DD used to twirl her hair but doesn't do that now. I think her sleep cue might be rearranging her bed every night. It takes about 20 minutes. She's like an extremely fussy mother bird. Hmm

HairsprayBabe · 30/05/2018 09:32

I feel a lot more settled with life now so hopefully I will be posting more regularly now!

Not sure if we will do elf on the shelf, we will probably only see her 3 or 4 times in December so I am not sure how well it would work. He already knows how mad on Christmas I am as when I was moving in there were 8 boxes of Christmas decorations... I used to live in a tiny 2 bed house, this house is bigger... so might need to buy more?!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 09:37

DD admitted she didn't believe in Father Christmas last year, so she gets to play Father Christmas now! 😂🎅 I still get to drink the beer though! 😂 And eat the mince pie, as she doesn't like them.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 09:40

Having eggs and bacon and a banana today. 😋🍳🍌

NoWordForFluffy · 30/05/2018 10:43

I don't have a 'must' in order to sleep. I'm so knackered I can just sleep. DS doesn't seem to either. We have steps we take before bed though!

As I said, we are all different! Perhaps it's different for those who struggle.

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 11:07

Maybe. 😊

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 19:08

Had chicken breast in BBQ sauce with potato wedges for lunch, butter chicken for supper. 😋🍗🍗

Internaljukebox · 30/05/2018 19:44

Hello all, have I missed much? Got back Monday eve and went out for our 10th wedding Anniversary. Had a great time away and ds loved Ed Sheeran! Back at work today so am feeling proper knackered lol... running a bath as we speak! DH is cooking haggis, neeps and tats for tea x

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 20:16

Mmm haggis. Neeps are a bit tasteless though.

TheWoollybacksWife · 30/05/2018 20:48

Ooh Internal DD1 is off to see Ed next week. She is so excited.

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2018 20:57

They're lovely Mrs, especially the dress! 💗

Mrsmadevans · 30/05/2018 21:21

Ahhh thank you Perfect Flowers
l was hoping for some positives , l saw the dress in the shop and l couldn't stop feeling the fabric, it was like Broderie anglaise, l love it!

PerfectlySymmetricalButtocks · 30/05/2018 22:42

In bed now. 😴

NoWordForFluffy · 31/05/2018 06:21

I really like the coat, Mrs. The dress isn't quite my thing, though my mum would probably like it (you sit in between our ages, I think!). Though the colour is lovely.

Clammy out, and a bit murky for now. Think it'll burn off though. It rained a bit yesterday, though not a huge amount.

Back into work early today. One last big push to try to get back on top of things a bit before being off tomorrow.

Does anyone have any weekend plans? I'm giving blood tomorrow after the failed appointment the other week, then it's haircuts on Saturday, but not much else is planned!

Mrsmadevans · 31/05/2018 08:20

Morning all Smile
Weather is dire here , Carol the weather is on the top of the BBC rooftop in London and it looks about the same there dull and drizzly and dismal lol Grinshe's doing her best to cheer us up with her bright yellow jacket on bless her Smile
Ahhh well!
Fluffy l think the dress reminds me of Laura Ashley when she was alive and in her hayday , l loved her designs . Am deffo between ages , am 57 , your mum is a little bit older than me l expect . Not a lot lol, you must be jumping for joy today at your 3 day week , l bet you absolutely love it . Am so pleased for you. Enjoy! Grin
No plans for the weekend except to look after the parents and walk if l can, they need us everyday now , they are bickering and arguing a lot , l think it is because they are not able to go out as usual. I will take mum to dancing tonight to get her out she can't dance anymore it is purely the gossip factor Grin to get her out .
Internal you haven't missed anything , so glad you and DS loved Ed , it sounds brilliant.
Hairspray glad you are happy my dear , YES to more decorations!!
Have a lovely day all am cleaning today, food shopping ltr Hmm

Mrsmadevans · 31/05/2018 08:22
