He did !

I had the thread deleted as it came across as me being goady and uncaring which wasn't my intention at all but I thought people would appreciate an update.

Little one has been with us just over a week now and is settling in well, she's gorgeous and is sitting by my feet chewing her teddy. She's had her vet check and injections, enjoying being out and about and being socialised, is the softest little thing until her witching hour in the evening where she transforms into a baby crocodile!

I'm sure there will be loads of folks on to say it was the wrong time to get a puppy, but be that as it may, the puppy is a reality. (Of course, a picture would be nice!) We found that when DDog was a puppy, putting him into a puppy pen with a blanket on the floor, a puppy pad and whatever he was mauling at the time allowed him to calm down. They are like small children, and get overtired.

Here are some photos of our first week with her x

BigcatLittlecat · 02/01/2018 22:19

Gorgeous!!

UrsulaPandress · 02/01/2018 22:20

Cocker or Springer?

JaimeLannister · 02/01/2018 22:20

It's lovely that she has settled well and you are enjoying her but no decent breeder would have sold a puppy as gift and without meeting everyone in the household.

abitoflight · 02/01/2018 23:22

I’m so pleased for you
Honestly my dog has made me and family so so happy each day with her
I never grew up with dogs and was quite scared of them for years. It’s been a complete revelation

fairgame84 · 02/01/2018 23:27

She's lovely.
Don your hard hat though OP, you will get flamed for getting a pup at Christmas.

KC225 · 03/01/2018 02:04

OMG My ovaries are clacking together. That is the sweetest puppy. How lovely.

reebsr33bs · 03/01/2018 13:01

I was hugely flamed on my initial thread.

I didn't make the decision to get puppy at Christmas but she's here so of course I'm loving her and looking after her just like i would getting a puppy any time of the year.

I was really concerned that she came from an unscrupulous breeder but DH said it was a litter of pups from a household with two pet cockers, doesn't seem like a puppy farm situation.
She was last in litter, someone told DH about her as knew we were planning on getting a female cocker in new year.

She is a cocker spaniel.

I’ve had 2 puppies over Xmas, one I had for 9 years until he passed & the other mad one who is now 2. I’ve also got a rescue springer.

Xmas is not always a busy time for everyone, it suits us as we’re off work & can spend time & effort with training & settling them in. DH is self employed & jan is his quite month so he can be around for the 4 meals a day & human company. Not everyone gets a puppy at Xmas & rejoined them in March.

What’s her name! She’s precious

reebsr33bs · 03/01/2018 13:21

Pippin8 that is how it's worked for us - we've all been around and Vailable to concentrate on training and settling her in. She's doing really well with house training and has learnt to sit ")

She stayed with my (cocker spaniel loving) in laws on Christmas eve and my husband brought her home on Christmas morning - I was instructed to sit with my eyes closed and arms out.

DH doesn't know that I had guessed and it actually made me feel ill with anxiety on Christmas morning.

Her name is Nancy 🐶

I didn't see your original thread. How did you guess?

BiteyShark · 03/01/2018 16:39

Awww cocker spaniels are the best (totally unbiased Grin)

reebsr33bs · 03/01/2018 22:06

He kept going off making phone calls and receiving texts, we were driving over to his parents and I looked down and thought i saw a fleeting photo of a dog- that planted the seed, then he cancelled last minute party with friends and on Christmas morning there was no present but he'd hinted that my present was a big surprise

TBH I have less of an issue with an adult buying another adult a dog for Christmas, not like a child who thinks it is an alternative to a toy and if the puppy is ready to go to a home at that time then why not.

She is adorable.

Chasingsquirrels · 03/01/2018 22:17

She is gorgeous!!
Here is our, now 12 week old, boy.
