After seeing how many MNer's were actually vomiting over Christmas, I hope it wasn't because of this? www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-5212851/Tesco-ruined-Christmas-Customers-slam-supermarket.html

We bought the largest, cheapest bird we could find (£12.00 from Iceland and it fed 10) We covered it in streaky bacon, slathered it in anchor butter , stuffed onions and bay leaves inside - and honestly you could not tell it was a frozen cheap bird. Would buy this again! Bargain! WWYD next year?

4.5kg fresh free range turkey from Morrisons- £30 - bought on Saturday afternoon. I had a google before i went and they seemed to have the best deals on free range turkeys. I'm too lazy to deal with defrosting a turkey, so happy to pay extra for fresh. Would buy again.

Bought a 3kg boneless turkey crown from a butcher local to DHs work. Was £22 and absolutely delicious! I just rubbed in olive oil and salt and pepper and it needed 2h15 in the oven. So much easier than a whole bird as no waste whatsoever- no one ever wants the dark meat in my experience!

TantrumsNSprouts · 26/12/2017 14:57

Just got a rolled, stuffed crown from Waitrose this a year, as only four of us.
Cost £30. Was really lovely. Just had some leftovers now Grin.

3kg boneless crown from local butcher £30. Very nice. Plenty of leftovers and very moist. Slathered with butter under the skin and salt and pepper.

Jogel · 26/12/2017 14:58

I bought a stuffed breast covered with bacon £9.99 and stuffed leg meat £3.29 from a local butcher. DH prefers the dark meat. Cooked in 1.5 hours and were delicious. Only 2 of us, so have loads left for today and tomorrow.

MyRelationshipIsWeird · 26/12/2017 14:59

We had beef. Turkey is generally shit, never had a juicy one like you see on adverts. Rib of beef is always amazing.

LizzieSiddal · 26/12/2017 15:01

I only buy free range meat so it was an M&S free range, turkey crown with stuffing and streaky back on top. It was around £40.

Was very moist and delicious.

However we had their free range pigs in blankets and they were horrible. The bacon was far too smokey tasting.

ClashCityRocker · 26/12/2017 15:07

We had Waitrose breast joint for £23.

I was disappointed to be honest. I've never yet managed to make a breast joint dry but this one was heading that way.

Bought an Aldi Roly Poly turkey at 3.25 pm on Christmas ever. it was a £38 bird reduced to £10

dotdotdotmustdash · 26/12/2017 15:13

Large crown from Tesco at £14. The meat was tasty and moist. No need to have spent any more than that.

shouldaknownbetter · 26/12/2017 15:18

Got a 3 bird roast from lidl - 3 meats plus stuffing all wrapped in bacon. It was £20 and delicious! Easily fed 6 of us with leftovers for today. Would recommend.

Silvertap · 26/12/2017 15:24

£70 from our local farm.

Delicious. Fed 8 yesterday, 6 today and will keep us in sandwiches/turkey curry/picky bits for at least
A week

18.5lb wild turkey came from our garden. DH and DS spent 2 weeks out Hunting and this one just walks into the garden one morning.

LIZS · 26/12/2017 15:27

Sainsburys Norfolk Black free range turkey crown £27. Tasty and moist, said it would serve 6-7 but has done 4 of us 2 main meals plus leftovers.

Silvercatowner · 26/12/2017 15:28

Turkey crown from Waitrose. Easy to roast and absolutely delicious. It said it would feed 9, we were 5 yesterday and there’s over half left.

Tissunnyupnorth · 26/12/2017 15:29
Hmm
JaneEyre70 · 26/12/2017 15:31

My mum bought us all a turkey crown from Aldi, it was very large and was around £23. Cooked in just over 2 hours, I put butter all under the skin and cooked it in foil. I'm veggie so didn't try it but everyone said it was lovely and juicy. Def will have one again.

Wollstonecraft1 · 26/12/2017 15:31

Watching as we were given a huge organic turkey by DH's work on Christmas Eve and we were out on Christmas Day and we have never cooked one before. Not sure what to do with it as we have already got loads of food in.

Shall I freeze it for Easter?

AlexanderHamilton · 26/12/2017 15:33

My mum bought a boneless turkey crown from a local discount butchers called Wayne Walker. She froze it & we defrosted it Christmas eve. It was lovely.

secondhoneymoon · 26/12/2017 15:33

Large frozen turkey from Tesco, £19, and no vomiting here. We've gone back to frozen supermarket birds since realising £60 from butchers tasted no different. More about how you cook them

MrsWooster · 26/12/2017 15:35

49.99 as ocado had a £20 voucher off. Waitrose 7kg bronze monster. Bacon on the top, a lemon up its fundament and 2 hours in a roasting bag. It was lush yesterday, lush today and looks like being lush for at least another week at 3 meals a day!!

Tinselistacky · 26/12/2017 15:35

7.2kg turkey from the butcher that supply ds workplace (restaurant)
Cost £53, froze the legs +wings for later in the week. Was delicious!

kalinkafoxtrot45 · 26/12/2017 15:37

€65 Euros for a 5.5kg bird, ordered from a local grocer. Brined, stuffed and roasted - it fed 5 with heaps of leftovers. It was delicious.

Eminybob · 26/12/2017 15:40

We had a 3kg crown from Aldi. It was £20.
It was lovely, tasty, did the job. It was far too big for the 3 of us, but we had turkey and bacon sandwiches this morning for brunch and are having turkey dinner again tonight.

Eminybob · 26/12/2017 15:40

(From the leftovers)
