Problems with online food shops - anyone else?

Newdad19 · 22/12/2017 19:19

Anyone else had any dramas this year with their online christmas food shop?

We booked our ASDA delivery slot weeks ago for tomorrow, went today to add our amended trolley to it for the final shop.... and it kept forcing to book a new slot?!

Called up customer services and they told me that I apparently can only amend my order one week in advance. 🙄

In the end I had to clear my trolley of £100 worth of stuff and start a fresh in a new browser window to get it to work! It was a close one but we were nearly having £40 worth of baby milk for Christmas dinner!

I’ve been amending my asda order for tmrw all day ! X fingers all ok for tmrw, if not got Sunday to sort it out - my wedding anniversary !!😲

hashtagelfie · 22/12/2017 20:51

That is strange. I order through Tesco and have sometimes just started the order in the morning to be delivered that evening! I think I can make admendments until about 8hrs or so before delivery.
A week in advance would be a nightmare

Glumglowworm · 22/12/2017 20:57

I’ve had my Asda slot for tomorrow booked since November and have been amending it up to yesterday. I had an email this morning about a couple of minor things that are likely to be out of stock and suggesting I could amend it if I wanted

Last year Asda didn’t send me parsnips or chestnuts.

I deliberately booked a morning slot for tomorrow so I’d have time to go to the shop if necessary. I don’t drive so hoping nothing major doesn’t arrive!

CablesCables · 22/12/2017 20:58

My Tesco delivery came today. No substitutions, no unavailable items, and no ridiculous use by dates. I was pleasantly surprised. Mind you, I've never had problems with their Christmas deliveries. It's just the rest of the year they seem to struggle with.

PandaPieForTea · 22/12/2017 21:05

Our Ocado delivery is due tomorrow and could be edited until 11.30pm yesterday. They emailed and texted us reminders for the cut off time. I’d put most of the shop on our list a month or so ago, which is lucky as there’s lots out of stock now. I’d forgotten to buy a panettone and they don’t seem to have any left. I’ll see what arrives tomorrow.

Arrowfanatic · 22/12/2017 21:08

I use Tesco and in all the years we have used them we've only ever had one rubbish delivery (but tbf that was a joint fuck up between them and my bank) and one crazy substitute.

Just had a delivery off them half hour ago, a few substitutions but nothing horrific.

BeakyPlinder · 22/12/2017 21:20

I had my asda shop delivered this morning and the pigs in blankets and cranberry were unavailable!!! Not even substituted just unavailable. Was annoyed but was able to walk to closer small asda where they had bloody shelves and shelves full of them both. I also amended my.ordet about 25 times in the couple of days before so a weeks notice is wrong

misstiggiwinkle · 22/12/2017 21:25

My Ocado is arriving tomorrow evening...I'm a little nervous!

EnriqueTheRingBearingLizard · 22/12/2017 21:26

I've shopped with Asda on line before now and found them very hit and miss and that was just weekly shopping, not Christmas.

I get the Christmas shop via Tesco and up to now they've been excellent. Hope that doesn't jinx tomorrow's delivery.

Their procedure is that if you order some Christmas specific stuff like a turkey, then the option to change or amend is about a week or so before the date, but other regular stuff is amend up to about 23.45 the night before the delivery is due. Added bonus is notes to the pickers.

As a side note, cranberries seem to be scarce this year, or is that just in our area?

SimplyNigella · 22/12/2017 21:27

Another brilliant Ocado delivery, one substitution for an almost identical item and I was making changes up until Wednesday.

Zaphodsotherhead · 22/12/2017 21:28

I gave up internet shopping after two Tesco incidents. One substitution - I'd ordered cauliflower to make cauliflower cheese, and they sent me a lettuce...not really the same. But the killer was, I used to order five trays of 24 tins of dog food at a time (one very big dog and a smaller one, to feed for a month) and they KEPT sending me five individual small tins of dog food. Five tins was barely a day's worth so I always had to go out to the local small supermarket to buy (expensive) dog food.

So I reckoned if I had to go all the way to the big supermarket for the dog food, I might as well do all my shopping while I was there.

HighwayChile · 22/12/2017 21:31

I refuse to shop at Asda after they once took payment twice; it took four weeks and several frustrating calls to to customer services to sort it out.

I've got an Ocado order being delivered tomorrow. I'm a bit nervous but I've always found them to be reliable so fingers crossed!

sweetsomethings · 22/12/2017 21:38

Got my Tesco order no subs except one that worked in my favour paid for 8 cans of pop and got 12

ItsInTheDogsMouth · 22/12/2017 21:42

My Tesco one came, it was great - only had to send one lightbulb back. I'd booked the slot a couple of weeks ago, 'ordering' 4 cases of Guinness, then i removed all the Guinness and ordered what i actually needed, amended it right up to 23.40 the night before. I used to use Asda, (before Tesco delivered to my area) and the website was almost unusable. It couldn't find common foodstuffs like tinned tuna and if I typed in 'butter' for example, it would return 'asda suggests you'd like bin bags'.... well if i'd wanted bin bags, i'd have typed that in, wouldn't i? And that was when my broadband speed was the speed of dial up, so i could wait minutes for bloody asda to 'find' the wrong item, or not find a perfectly common item. Can you tell i'm still pissed off years later? (Rant over).

pointerbrother · 22/12/2017 21:44

Got my Ocado order yesterday, couple of subs but fine. However one of my cans of Guinness had punctured and had covered the contents of the bag. When I took it out it leaked all over my kitchen floor which the delivery driver saw. He subsequently refunded me £55 for the inconvenience!! What a result Grin

earlofhell · 22/12/2017 21:46

sainsburys awful, just didnt bother delivering mine and didnt let me no, now i need to go huge shop tomorrow.

Whywonttheyletmeusemyusername · 22/12/2017 21:47

Asdas are unbelievably shite atm. I order very heavy items, which are always "out of stock ". It's ridiculous

Autumnchill · 22/12/2017 21:51

Sainsburys have just delivered mine, booked weeks ago but could amend up to 11 o'clock last night. 2 substitutions, Italian salad for smaller bag and different beer.

goose1964 · 22/12/2017 21:51

Our bank and Tesco had a fight. I've spent the last couple of days buying all the heavy and bulky stuff we had on the order.. Luckily we don't use it for general shopping

chandlersfraud · 22/12/2017 21:55

Ocado = no drama.

Delivered today with no substitutions and nothing missing.

Iloveacurry · 22/12/2017 21:55

Just had my Ocado shop, 30 minutes early. Only one sub.

Sallystyle · 22/12/2017 22:11

My Asda order is due tomorrow and I amended mine an hour ago. No issues, except the usual exceptionally slow page loading and loads of items now out of stock.

Sallystyle · 22/12/2017 22:18

I am getting mine late morning. I have got to go to work afterwards so I won't be happy if the important stuff isn't delivered as I don't want to be picking shit up on Xmas eve, when i'm also working.. When I looked an hour ago they had removed some stuffing, a tin of quality streets, some napkins, special pigs in blankets, a bottle of wine and my panettone. All out of stock.

newme175 · 22/12/2017 22:24

Got my Tesco delivery yesterday, they substituted turkey gravy for chicken gravy - no big deal, I doubt anyone would notice the difference

But.... also delivered fresh stuffing balls with a use by date of 24/12, and they are obviously for Christmas dinner grrrrrr..... I’m thinking of just cooking them on 24th and reheating on 25th? Or just risking it?? Really can’t be bothered to brave the shops for a replacement!!

Hoppinggreen · 22/12/2017 22:26

I’ve just been to collect my M&S order and it was deserted, no but sues with parking and no queues.
The manager apologised that the box containing my luxury veg pack had arrived damaged so I could have the standard veg box instead free of charge. I explained that it was quite different and I didn’t want a standard veg box, I ordered it back in November to get what I wanted ( polite but firm). He sent a staff member round the store to find veg that was the same as the luxury veg pack and let me have it all for free.
Then as we went round the store I realised we were leaving a trail of gravy - the gravy tub was cracked as well. I got a free gravy . In total over £30 of free stuff
Well done Marks
