I’ll have 5 on Xmas eve and 12 Xmas day so I don’t want to go overboard on Xmas eve. We are going to a carol service and I was thinking a chilli or bolognese once we get back. Would you be happy with that or is it not special enough?

Going out for DH birthday to an awesome independent burger place in town. They do a special Christmas burger which is just obscene. Fried turkey, gammon, gravy, home made festive bake, sprout rosti and topped with a pug in blanket. So that n a decent ale, can't wait!

Takeaway for us on Christmas Eve. No cooking, nothing extra in the shopping, no washing up. Done!

xmasstress · 23/12/2017 13:48

For us it will be a quick pizza from Tesco..... nothing special... not a lot of cooking. To be honest finding meals to eat over Christmas just stresses me out

Dothedamnthang · 23/12/2017 18:44

JollyGiraffe I thought the exact same thing!

My parents are coming and we have varying dietary requirements and the children are fussy buggers from them, so we're having takeaway as we can all pick things we can eat without me having to cook 3 separate meals to cater for everyone.

Sofabitch · 23/12/2017 18:48

Cheese and crackers. With other picky bits.

Beef stew hubby is making in the slow cooker. We've started a new tradition today of Christmas Eve Eve drive to see people's lights and a KFC bucket as a huge treat.

Korma, onion bhajis, naan bread, cauliflower biriani- yum x

Beef Wellington with mash and green beans.

We have both side of our family visit at different times of the day so I've done a slow cooker full of pulled pork for sandwiches

buttwingsham · 23/12/2017 19:01

So far on the table there will be-

A ham
Lots of salami, mortadella, prosciutto
Different kinds of humus and dips
Nice breads
Italian Christmas cabbage
Artichokes
Roast peppers
Sun dried tomatoes
Olive tapenade
Onion bhajis
Spring rolls
Avocado salad
Chicken goujons
Curly fries
Caponata
And for pudding it's either apple strudel or chocolate brownies

It's the strangest combination of food but I'm trying to cater for my Italian family , a vegan and some fussy kids.

Indian takeaway, can't wait!

Tisfortired · 23/12/2017 19:04

Well be having a full English Christmas Eve morning at about 11:00. Then Chinese takeaway for dinner for us too Smile

ninnynono · 23/12/2017 19:14

We have seafood (European DH so we have a special meal on Christmas Eve and on Christmas Day!).

Oysters, sea snails, lobster, prawns, smoked salmon and caviar. Washed down with champagne. Followed by a delicious pudding (ordered at the patisserie). No effort (from me!) and delicious. I am looking forward! Xmas Smile

HemanOrSheRa · 23/12/2017 19:19

DP's family come over on Christmas Eve so I always do ham, hot new potatoes, crusty bread, salads, pickles and a cheeseboard. Various christmassy things for dessert - mince pies, cake, Christmas pudding cheesecake. Nice and easy.

MissBeehiving · 23/12/2017 19:30

Local lobsters and crabs and fizz. Might steal some risalamande from Dsis who does it for Christmas Eve because BIL is Danish.

The other thread / rant on 'picky bits' and 'picky tea' means I could NOT read this thread with a straight face. Xmas Grin
