Ds is good at faking it. He can smile and say thank you reasonably convincingly

Dd is not. She is the sort of child who says what she thinks. I am trying to get her to just smile and say thanks.

How did you help your dcs develop this skill/ technique?
Me and dd are going to have to practice before we see the ILs I think 😬

Oh I'm dreading this. We're usually on our own on Xmas day but have everyone over this year so present opening will be done in full view.

When my DS was a toddler if he opened something that didn't have wheels he would throw himself on the floor for a proper meltdown. He's 5 now and not much better. No special needs. Just plain rude.

When I went into another class at school yesterday afternoon I was told that they were practising how to respond when getting a present they didn't like! Also how to give correct answers to various Christmas questions. Was good fun.

5 and 6 years olds whether they have SN or not haven't always learnt the art of tact and diplomacy. I remember getting a birthday present when i was that age and saying, I've already got that. After that I learnt that it was rude.

FreeNiki I'd rather someone NOT take my kid to a fun fair, than take them only to tell them they cant go on most of the sparkly flashy rides FFS!

Why didnt you look up the prices before you took her? Its not her fault you fucked up when you planned the outting. You sound quite nasty towards your GC tbh. If you dislike kids as much as you sound like you do then perhaps decline offers to be godparent in future
