A rubbish thread title but, well, it's 19 now!

20 days until Christmas, I'm imagining us all wrapping late at night like little festive elves readying ourselves for how excited everyone will be with their bargainous presents.

Any referral links to go on this separate thread please

Silvertap if she's in her first year at uni she might be a bit skint and living in halls where space is limited so maybe give her voucher so she can choose something for herself.

Can't remember what they're called but you can get vouchers that cover various high street shops so she could buy clothes, shoes, stationery, household stuff or anything else she needs.

Taffeta · 11/12/2017 19:15

Silvertap - I’m recommending the minimergency kit to everyone! Bought one for my 19 yo niece. Urban Outfitters sell them or buy direct:

herecomesthsun · 11/12/2017 19:36

3 in 1 hat gloves and scarves from buildabear half price

They also have stuffed animals on sale from £7, but it is online only (so you presumably don't get the fun of going to "create" your bear)

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 11/12/2017 20:13

Nearly done but need a present for a mid 20s engineer. Very clever, recently bought a house. I'm stuck. Had a few ideas but opinions and suggestions would be fantastic. Thought number1 option2 or he likes cooking so bit random?

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 11/12/2017 20:14

Forgot to say it's a secret santa so £20 budget

Fueledwithfairydustandgin · 11/12/2017 20:22

I know this is quite random but a few people have been looking for presents along the line of an edible anus so I give you the penis toothbrush

NaturalBlondeYeahRight · 11/12/2017 20:52

After thinking I’d been clever using my vouchers to buy Echo dots via Tesco on Saturday, I was not impressed to see them reduced today!
Inspired by you bargain hunters, I rang them up and the gave me the difference on both of them - no arguments. Well done Tesco

BanoffeePieIsMyFave · 11/12/2017 20:57

@fandangley I would love a Lakeland code if it’s still available? Don’t worry if not, Thankyou

Silvertap · 11/12/2017 21:07

Taffeta that's brilliant.

I'm spending a bit more in her sister this year as the perfect present opportunity has arisen. I wanted to avoid vouchers as it might highlight the difference too much. Might do a voucher and the emergency kit.

What I really want to do is get her Jesssie Meachams new book as I'd be way richer if I'd sussed our budgeting at uni instead of 10 years later. Doesn't seem quite appropriate though!

fandangley · 11/12/2017 21:08

Have pm'd you banoffee

eitak22 · 11/12/2017 21:23

Havent been able to keep up so well due to moving this weekend, now settled although not amazing internet.

Looking for a beer crate/box etc for FIL, bargains very welcome. Is flavourly the best?

Also need something around £20 for a friend who has had a tough year. She likes knitting, tea/coffee, stationary and favourite colour is purple.

RJnomore1 · 11/12/2017 21:31

Did I spot someone saying that their great British food subscription gift arrived?

What was it????

Still wondering what I should be expecting...

margaritasbythesea · 11/12/2017 21:42

Does anyone have one of those Bloom and Wild ten pounds off that turn up in various deliveries that they won´t use please? I put mine in, decided to wait a bit to actually buy and now it won´t let me use it. I would be very grateful.

doistayordoigo · 11/12/2017 21:43

Thanks for the info Dolphintrainer ...good job I didn't rip the box open then Grin

PlaymobilPirate · 11/12/2017 21:50

Fairydust my secret Santa is a very clever engineer (lots older though)

I've bought him a mensa calendar: Calendar Challenger 2018 www.amazon.co.uk/dp/B076KC6FKS/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_apa_c2VlAbZ7MN7MA?tag=mumsnetforum-21

bunbunny · 11/12/2017 22:16

Fuelled Lots of the geeky 20-somethings that I know get very excited by the big Rubiks Cubes - best I've seen was about 11x11 but they were over £100

However if you have a quick look on Amazon there are plenty of others from 2x2x2 upwards at different price ranges.

This one is an X shape for £22 which looks pretty tricky and would be a good talking point even if it never gets completed!

(Haven't looked extensively so there might be better prices out there for it, but you get the idea!)

Llamacorn · 11/12/2017 22:25

I hope everyone is doing well with their bargain hunting! The chats slowed down a bit, I'm home in bedrest, still got quite a bit of shopping to do. Ive booked a party for dh's 40th on Saturday but haven't got a thing sorted for it yet Confused

Excited my DM found the Harry Potter potion lights in primark today for dd, and got her the envelope cushion too so she will be chuffed with that.

Any ideas how I can wrap/gift make up for dd1? She has some high end make up coming her way for Xmas, but one tiddly pot costs about as much as a huge box of plastic tat for dd3. I thought of wrapping it into one big hamper, but then she will have less gifts to open iyswim. Open to suggestions.

Pigleychez · 11/12/2017 22:27

Anyone looking for a cheap Secret santa? Our budget was only £1 ! I was dreading it but found some good mugs in Poundland. www.poundland.co.uk/novelty-christmas-mugs I bought the Cocks one and recieved the filthy animal one. Came boxed so a nicce little gift.

Anyone help me with my last troublesome gift?? Really stuck on my parents. In thier 60's, No real hobbies. Picky eaters. Dads Diabetic and deaf. Any ideas?

bunbunny · 11/12/2017 22:27

Silvertap things that have gone down well with my cousins when they were at uni and that were cheap have included a book of mug cake recipes (I still get told about new ones they've tried, and they've also said they've gone out and bought copies of the book to give to their friends as presents too which seemed pretty good validation of a book being used!) and christmas microplush throws from Asda as they're cheap and soft. The ones that are £5-6 are great (the others are great too but out of price range!) - I've had lots over the years and they wear really well.

You could get both and still give a £10 coffee or amazon etc voucher to go with them...

Mug Cake Book - this is the one I got but it seems to be out of stock at the moment but there are plenty others around to choose from so you should be able to get one for under a fiver

bunbunny · 11/12/2017 22:34

llama poundland had some nice solid boxes that were just a bit smaller than shoe boxes in 2 different designs - one as a christmas eve box, the other as a christmas general box. You could add some tissue to cushion the item in the box and then wrap it too.

They also had some nice Revlon and nails inc things in their make up section for a pound last week, as well as some nice clear plastic make up organisers (separate ones for lipsticks, pencils, nail varnishes etc) that you could add to bulk it out a bit. I also got a nice actual tin from Home Bargains that was about 6x4 inches - they had several designs from very christmassy to everyday, as well as some bauble shaped tins, all a pound or less, which would be nice to put it into then wrap up...

or go for something different like a box file for school work or a big storage box or a pringles tube or a pair of socks or wellies or something that's definitely a different thing and then wrap it carefully into the thing?

Fannyfanakerpants · 11/12/2017 22:48

Please help! I thought I was really organised but realised I've missed loads of people. My main one is my secret Santa. I have a 60year old Italian man who loves cooking. Budget of £10.

spellingstress · 11/12/2017 22:52

Echo Dots down to £34.99 at Very, so if you open a new account and get the 10% first order reduction (with code LXJUD), this goes down to around £31.50 😁

TimTams · 11/12/2017 22:52

margaritabytheSea I've pm'd you a £10 off Bloom & Wild referral link. You get £10 & I'll get £10 flower credits.

woodwaj · 11/12/2017 23:24

Does anyone know if you can use the mothercare birthday code on sale? D's birthday is early Feb so tempted to wait and see what they reduce!

ThePurpleGirl · 12/12/2017 00:08

I don’t suppose anyone has a Boden £10 off £30 that they aren’t going to use? Having finally completely stopped breastfeeding DS I’m desperate for some new tops and have seen a couple of lovely ones on Boden thanks to the last thread, but can’t justify spending that much on myself. I would be eternally grateful.
