Does Santa come to your street?

Was minding my own business sitting on the sofa when I heard loud Christmas music. Weird, it's normally a very quiet little street. Suddenly it struck me... SANTA WAS OUTSIDE. Flashbacks and memories to Santa on the back of a flatbed truck coming down my childhood street giving out sweeties (And collecting for charity).

After yelling SANTA at DP (Yes I am a massive child) And running to put the blinds up and DP is just looking at me like Hmm

So I explained and made him come and look at Santa... and he had never seen it before in his life. I thought this was a common thing?! I remember it every year everywhere i lived until I moved into the city centre and this is the first December since I've lived somewhere residential...

So, Does Santa blare his music whilst trubdling down your street on a truck? Grin

Yes comes round our small town in Warwickshire, think it starts 16th and goes on for 3 or 4 nights. His little helpers knock on doors and hand out chocolate for a small donation which goes to charity.

Tinselistacky · 04/12/2017 20:34

We have one!! Throws loads of sweets to the dc - though looked like he was actually aiming at them last year!! Huge classy sleigh and helpers all dressed up!!

Pombliboo123 · 04/12/2017 20:38

Yay! Seems lots of people get the Santa visit then... brought back such happy memories of running outside to see Santa in my pyjamas with mum running behind me furiously trying to find change from her purse. Used to live in a little town in the East Midlands but in a little village in North East Scotland now.

I am laughing at having to bundle DD up in a towel so she didn't miss Santa Grin and asking for a dinosaur Grin

I feel very Christmassy now

He comes round here the round table organise it. There is a Santa tracker and everything my kids are sooooo excited by it. They raise loads of money for charity

Redisthemagicolour · 04/12/2017 20:48

Yep run by the local Rotary club. In a sleigh pulled by a van. He came tonight. Love it. Part of Christmas. You can hear him coming all evening!

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 04/12/2017 20:48

Maybe he does go to my old town now, Ecureuil, I've not lived there since 2004 and haven't ever lived there with DC!

My childhood was a fair while ago; times may have changed! 🎅🏻🎅🏻🎅🏻

QueenOfAllISurvey · 04/12/2017 20:49

Yes!

Last year the kids got so excited that they ran all the way down the street after him with no shoes on. DH chased after them laughing.

It was a real moment; they were entranced and their Daddy was just charmed by them in the moment.

I stood watching and shed a couple of tears.

It was lovely, I ended up writing a blog based on the memory of that moment later.

Yes! Usually the last Wednesday before Christmas.

He comes with the local Mountain Rescue. Occasionally he can't make it because they get a call out but I always give him a hefty donation because I never know when I might need them!

stoplickingthetelly · 04/12/2017 20:59

Yes it's our local Rotary Club. They used to come to my street on Christmas Eve when I was a child. All the kids would be in their pj's and would come out of their houses to see. We would put a pound in a bucket. I now live in a totally different part of the country and they do it here too. He's due on Saturday.

PerfectlyPosed · 04/12/2017 21:01

Yes, we do. This will be my daughters 3rd Christmas and both years before he has caught us by surprise when she has been in the bath so we've just had to wave at the window. Will try and find out when he's coming this year and plan for it.

ProseccoPoppy · 04/12/2017 21:03

Yes - his sleigh is on a carnival cart here, the local carnival clubs do it. This is the first year DD has had any idea about Santa - not sure who is more excited!!

doozeldog · 04/12/2017 21:04

Yesssss! Look forward it it every year!!

eurochick · 04/12/2017 21:12

Yes, we had it growing up (London/Kent borders) and he came here tonight(London/Surrey borders). 😊

PasstheStarmix · 04/12/2017 21:16

I want Santa to come to my area...so not fair Angry

elQuintoConyo · 04/12/2017 21:18

Not Santa, but the 3 Kings go past every evening of 5th January, chucking out boiled sweets like bloody missiles! DS loves it, atmosphere is great, streets are rammed.

I remember Santa on a float when i was a nipper, in the early 80s. Bursting with excitement!

AppleCiderVinegarr · 04/12/2017 21:18

WHAAAT! what kind of injustice is this? Shock

i have never seen this and I want to see it now. I would love my kids to see Santa trundling down our street. where do you all live?

PasstheStarmix · 04/12/2017 21:20

I have lots of lights and sparkles and everything and still no man in red....

JonSnowsWhore · 04/12/2017 21:22

Wondering if @Redisthemagicolour is local to me lol

BlueberryMarshmallow · 04/12/2017 21:22

Yes! Moved last year to a smaller village type place and thought I was going crazy heard bells and Christmas music and there he was! So magical!

SweetChickadee · 04/12/2017 21:22

Yes, he used to when we were kids.

He also used to land on the leisure centre field in his helicopter and hand out sweets. We bloody loved that as kids Grin

picklemepopcorn · 04/12/2017 21:24

Yes, but I hate it! i hate the noise, the banging on the door, the interruption..etc.

It was slightly better last year when I heard it coming and was able to get out with the dog on a lead before the bang on the door.

AndhowcouldIeverrefuse · 04/12/2017 21:25

Yes OP Santa came to our street this evening! The kids loved it but it wasn't as blindingly bright or mindblowingly loud as I remember. Xmas Grin

RhinestoneCowgirl · 04/12/2017 21:26

When I was a kid it was (I think) the local Rotary club who organised FC on a truck with lights and festive music blaring out over tinny speakers. Good times.

NickMyLipple · 04/12/2017 21:26

He was on my road yesterday!
