What are you must haves for your Christmas cheeseboard? And what accompaniments do you like? It's one of my favourite parts of Christmas and I love choosing a good selection. Last year I was pregnant so planning on going all out this time!
Stilton is my absolute favourite, usually Cropsell Bishop.

Long Clawson (Blue Stilton) it is divine!

00100001 · 04/12/2017 15:50

A proper old and aged cheddar so strong it makes your tongue tingle

PissedOffNeighbour · 04/12/2017 16:44

Comte is delicious as is another similar fench soling cheese - Beaufort!

IHeartKingThistle · 04/12/2017 16:47

Checking into the cheeseboard. I love a Camembert.

IHeartKingThistle · 04/12/2017 16:47

(And it's the best cheese for getting a bear out of the forest).

Get it?

Black bomber is a really nice tangy strong cheddar. I can't remember what we usually get, dp does the festive food shop, but always some rocamadour, a french goats cheese that's divine. Its all left out at room temperature for a few hours and served up with pickled onions, normal and spicy, various chutneys and pickles, both crackers and biscuits and then grapes and apple for the weirdos Grin
Bloody love a good cheeseboard.

Mugshotzforlunch · 04/12/2017 16:55

Wensleydale and cranberry, applewood smoked, really good strong cheddar.
Don't like soggy cheeses (brie etc or blue cheeses. ..yuk)

Madbengalmum · 04/12/2017 16:56

A Lancashire bomb, far superior to any other strong cheddars, when you can get it.
Epoisses, Vignotte, Brie de meaux, colston basset stilton. Done

ThatsMySantaHisBeardIsSoFluffy · 04/12/2017 17:22

Blacksticks blue is lovely. I also love a strong cheddar. Applewood smoked as well. Plus a crumbly Lancs.

I just love cheese. We have LOADS coming from various places and I can't wait. 🧀🧀🧀

Wensleydale and cranberry , extra mature cheddar and that round one with pineapple in it

User5trillion · 04/12/2017 17:52

Love a festive cheese board, must also contain the extra spicy mexicana cheese, so spicy it melts taste buds. Ummm. I can never remember if I like chutney or pickle and invariably buy the wrong one but I like the sharp one not sweet one. It has to be cream crackers, cheese thins and the hovis digestive biscuits.
Then a good cheddar but not a crumbly one, a smoked cheddar and possibly a camembert.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 04/12/2017 17:54

Vallage, Black Bomber, Boursin, stilton or blacksticks blue, gouda. Yum. I also like the brie with mushrooms and truffle from Waitrose.

Chrisinthemorning · 04/12/2017 17:58
Xmas Grin Mature cheddar like black bomber, Yorkshire Blue, a goat’s cheese, a smoked hard cheese, a Wensleydale and a really stinky soft cheese. We will probably head to Aldi and Keelham farm shop for a lovely selection.
OwlKiss · 04/12/2017 19:08

A really good mature farmhouse cheddar, a camembert (La Rustique), Harrogate Blue, and a soft goat's cheese (Rosary) are the ones that I particularly like. A box of Jacobs or Carrs mixed crackers, a few grapes, and a nice range of different chutneys and pickles - definitely including pickled silverskin onions and piccallili as a Christmas tradition.
Then, to please some of the younger family members, and those who prefer something less tasty strong, I will get some flavoured Wensleydale and red leicester that I saw in the farm shop the other day - they had them in wax wrapping shaped like reindeer and gingerbread men.

Montagnolo Affine - just discovered it in the local farm shop - it’s heavenly! And vegetarian Smile

Black cheddar (coloured with charcoal)
Amber Mist (whisky flavoured)
BIG cheese fan! Both of these are delicious/bit different.

TeddyIsaHe · 04/12/2017 19:53

Brie de meaux so ripe it is basically a puddle on the cheeseboard. I buy myself a wedge so I don’t have to share (greedy)

Glumglowworm · 04/12/2017 20:15

Stilton, Brie, Lancashire, possibly Shropshire blue if I can find it

I’m thinking of having cheese and crackers for Christmas Eve dinner, I’ll appreciate it more then than after a big roast dinner, and it’s just me so a) I can please myself and b) I have a lot of cheese to eat!

twobambinos · 04/12/2017 20:43

Wesley Dale and cranberry, fresh honeycomb, rosemary crackers.and that's all I've decided so far. Not mad about Stilton or brie. I will do some very strong cheddar smoked maybe.

palmfronds · 04/12/2017 20:47

Colston Bassett Stilton, Lincolnshire Poacher, Somerset Brie and Rollright (semi-soft brine washed) are some of my favourites. God I can't wait! With homemade chutney, a chunky sourdough slice, apples and Jersey butter. Mmm.

MarjorySunshineDust · 04/12/2017 20:56

Glumglowworm - we usually have a baked Camembert on Christmas Eve.

SuburbanRhonda - that looks divine!
