Mother. Tens machine. Bought.
Father. Aviator hat (he's a farmer so gets cold). Bought.
Sister. Chrome pen. Bought.
Brother. Nothing. (He lives in Canada and won't be home this Xmas so we sort of have a mutual agreement where we don't bother unless we're going to be together). Not bought.
Friend's children. Sweets and girly stuff for her teen. Bought.
DD. Nike hoodie and bottoms, sapphire earrings. Bought. Trainers, still to be bought. Fragrance, will let her pick out on 26th.
I don't have a partner or PILs to buy for. No grandparents either.

Pax I see you’ve out done yourself with DC6 this year!

Jb291 · 26/11/2017 15:54

Everyone in my family will be getting an individual hamper with thoughtfully selected contents tailored to their interests and eating preferences. I am very much going for quality over quantity and putting thought and love into each one. I absolutely cannot bear commercialism and all of the ridiculous frenzy around "Black Friday" made me shudder in horror.

paxillin · 26/11/2017 15:57

It is hard, Dipping. She sometimes appears on threads when a sixth child is useful, you see. When I have assigned careers and abilities to 5 that are incompatible with my current brag. That's where she comes in. So she's less useful than the others, hence the discrepancy in spending.

Christinayangstwistedsista · 26/11/2017 15:57

I'm very smug as I'm not at all into this excess and commercialism, I am giving everyone pictures of myself with little messages about what is important in life I.e. me

I shall also forage in the woods ( part of our weekend estate) and I shall fashion some items to represent nature ( empty Buckie bottles, condoms and fag nips)

paxillin · 26/11/2017 16:01

Give them wisdom, Christinayangstwistedsista. "Nothing is impossible, the word itself says I'm possible!"

catiinbo0ts · 26/11/2017 16:05

Mine too @AnyFucker

Coconutspongexo · 26/11/2017 16:07

Christina i think pictures of you in your city penthouse would be lovely for your family and friends and then a souvenir from your grounds, you’ve basically given yourself.

Selfless act.

FFS is Crumbs still at it? I remember her from a thread way back when we were all posting pics of our bedrooms, and she used one from google images?😂🤣😂🤣
Why? Just why?

C8H10N4O2 · 26/11/2017 16:29

you’ve basically given yourself

Dippin, this is genius - I must do this for the hoi polloi. Just imagine a hamper of pictures of me and my largesse (I may still supply fudge)

Christinayangstwistedsista · 26/11/2017 16:45

Doesn't Pax's dc6 have a striking resemblance to Rick the Postie's? He's a very helpful chap and often shows Pax his etchings, very artistic sort

Christinayangstwistedsista · 26/11/2017 16:47

C8

Its a wonderful idea isn't it? It gives them a glimpse of the life they could have had if only they weren't so poor and unfortunate

RJnomore1 · 26/11/2017 16:49

Dippin no it doesn't look much, I would suggest a big Baylis and Harding set each to pad it out. Half price at Debenhams right now.

CourtneyLoveIsMySpiritAnimal · 26/11/2017 16:53

I heard that fish forks also make excellent gifts. I keep mine in my 14th Century salt cupboard.

where did you find the Phoenix feather earmuffs

DH picked them up on his last trip to Asgard. He was doing a motivational talk there with Sarah and Gordon (Brown).

Coconutspongexo · 26/11/2017 17:05

C8 of course you have to give the fudge do you want people to think that you’re .. dare I say it?
working class

RJ thank you so much from saving me from the embarrassment, can you imagine the shame of just giving that? I would be mortified, the villagers would never acknowledge me again.

Courtney - you’ve reminded me I bought everyone fish forks last year, I must replace them and ask for the old ones to be thoroughly cleaned and given to the less fortunate.

This thread really is saving my Christmas thank you all.

C8H10N4O2 · 26/11/2017 17:17

Christina It gives them a glimpse of the life they could have had if only they weren't so poor and unfortunate

And of course if they had only worked just that little bit harder.

When we had DC1, DH was a trainee coalminer. He rolled up his sleeves and within a short time he was chairing RTZ and hobnobbing at No 10.

He travels a lot now advising other miners on how to become CEOs so that they too, can afford a salt cupboard and a legendary family.

RJnomore1 · 26/11/2017 17:22

Well I wouldn't like your frugality to become an embarrassment to you.

You may also like to consider oyster or lobster forks this year. For variety.

CrispyDuckPlease · 26/11/2017 17:38

Has everyone forgotten about a salt cupboard? Not one person here is gifting a 15th century salt cupboard. Bunch of tight arses!

Coconutspongexo · 26/11/2017 17:46

I might give one to the Hermes man Crispy he’s awfully helpful, sometimes gets my son asleep/tucks him in, cooks me tea etc, you know the usual.

BarbaraOcumbungles · 26/11/2017 17:57

dh apple ear pods
Dd ipad + books & bits
Ds Nintendo switch + books & bits
Dm & dd ancestry DNA test
Dmil has asked for a jumper
Nieces crochets sets & yarn
Nephews some weird air game thing.
Mini niece bath toys

We only buy siblings token gifts so normally a bottle of wine!

BarbaraOcumbungles · 26/11/2017 18:00

I see I’m late to the party but I have told DH I want the Eiffel Tower. He had better get it.

Coconutspongexo · 26/11/2017 18:07

Barbara there’s currently a bidding war going on between your husband a certain someone else’s husband for the Eiffel Tower.

There’s hope.

CrispyDuckPlease · 26/11/2017 18:11

Dipping does the Hermes man bring you unicorn sheep wool to knit or crochet mittens for the poor children?

Ragwort · 26/11/2017 18:22

Parents - Foodie hamper & charity goat (they will appreciate it Grin)
DH - a couple of books, jigsaw, chocolates
DS (teenager) - stocking full of bits & pieces - cash main present
DNeice/DNephew/Godson - cash

That's it - we have agreements with adult siblings not to buy each other gifts and my best friend & I now have a 'treat' together - afternoon tea planned. I don't exchange gifts with other friends.

bakingcupcakes · 26/11/2017 18:22

I love this thread. Grin I was going to list my gifts but thought I'd read it first.
