Do you like these candles?

Would you be happy to receive one of the Woodwick medium trilogy candles as a present?
It's the ones that crackle as they burn.

I have a few people to buy for (mostly ladies) and really struggling and have a bit of a budget + short on time.
I'm thinking of using the boots 3 for 2 and buying the Woodwick candles and adding little bits to the gift like a tea one of them likes or their favourite chocolates/sweets etc.

Opinions?

Yes id like that.

stonecircle · 18/11/2017 09:31

Hmm. I was given a crackling candle a few years ago and didn’t like the sound at all I’m afraid.

Lordasriel · 18/11/2017 09:31

I’d like one please

2004bestyear · 18/11/2017 09:32

Yes I'd like that as a present

BarbaraOcumbungles · 18/11/2017 09:34

I’d love it :)

ohanabanana · 18/11/2017 09:35

Yes I bought some of them on 3 for 2 last year and the recipients seemed thrilled! I think they mainly liked the idea of the crackling as none of them have an open fire. I’m not sure if they realised how expensive they are though!

TheNoseyProject · 18/11/2017 09:35

Yes that’s nice, easy for you but not generic as your adding a personal touch

GWeatherwax · 18/11/2017 09:38

I love them. They sound lovely if I'm sitting reading plus they smell wonderful. Also, I've never had any tunnelling with them which is a bonus. Most years we give/ receive them as Christmas gifts Smile

Malaco · 18/11/2017 09:38

I'd like it.

ShatnersBassoon · 18/11/2017 09:43

Yes, I think that's a nice present.

Usuallytootiredbuthappyanyway · 18/11/2017 09:44

Yes, I am always happy to receive candles

bigchris · 18/11/2017 09:45

Ooh they sound great ,does anyone have a link ?

poisonedbypen · 18/11/2017 09:46

I love those crackling ones & was disappointed to find there were none in our local boots yesterday. They smell very good, look nice & I like the crackling sound.

Zaphodsotherhead · 18/11/2017 09:53

Got some last year and they are lovely! Great gifts.

Blodplod · 18/11/2017 09:55

I have one, the smell is lovely but the sound drives me mad.. funnily enough I lit it last night then blew it out again because of the noise! But I am very sensitive to noise and get inexplicably wound up by sniffers, people coughing, heavy breathers etc Grin

FGSholdthedoor · 18/11/2017 09:56

@bigchris here it is (if it works) www.boots.com/search/Woodwick

I'm glad to know people generally like them! I got the large boat shaped one for my DM last year (seaside mimosa I think) and she absolutely loved it but they're a bit pricey for what I'm going for.

Which scents to people like?

I've had a nosey around boots yesterday and I quite like the tropical trilogy one and the coconut island (one scent), also seen a biscotti and coffee trilogy one which I think is different.

Not sure about the Christmas trilogy one? I don't know if anyone would use it up fast enough, seems a bit too seasonal?

OP you can often get those in TK Max for a lot less.

VittysCardigan · 18/11/2017 10:06

Matalan do crackling boat shaped candles, can't remember the price though

bigchris · 18/11/2017 10:07

Thank you holdthedoor! I've never heard of them before

CantSleepClownsWillEatMe · 18/11/2017 10:13

I like them, a friend has bought me one a couple of times as a gift. They do last for ages so the Christmas one could as you say be too seasonal. Plus actually Christmas scents imo tend to be quite heavy, I like scented candles but prefer lighter, fresher scents. The lemongrass one I currently have smells lovely and I think previously I had something like "linen fresh" which was a really nice clean scent.

Letty7 · 18/11/2017 10:27

I would love to receive one of those, i think they're lovely. A friend bought me one last year along with a book voucher and i was over the moon with it.

I8toys · 18/11/2017 11:29

I wanted one of these but was put off by the price only £6 in matalan - worth a try.

ZaZathecat · 18/11/2017 11:31

Yes I'd love one!. Have bought them for other people but nobody has bought me one Sad

WhatKatyDidNotDo · 18/11/2017 11:35

Yes! I'd love one as a present.

But I would not buy from the 3 for 2 at Boots. The Yankee Candles are priced at roughly £23 which is dramatically overpriced- I never pay more than £12 for a big Yankee. I assume that the Woodwicks will also be double the price- meaning that the 3 for 2 offer won't really allow you to get a good deal.

WellTidy · 18/11/2017 11:36

I love candles but I wouldn't like to receiv a crackling one or a traditional Christmas scents one. I am not keen on anything that is supposed to smell like winter or Christmas or forests or anything like that. But I do like nearly every other scent - florals, fruits, sea type scents. The crackling would drive me nuts.

I am not a snob, honestly. I buy anything from ikea candles to Yankee candle to jo malone and everything in between. Wax lyrical do a beautiful one - sweet pea and violet, which is gorgeous and about a tenner. There are lots of Yankee that I like - turquoise sky, wild fig, midsummer night, midnight Jasmin.

If you're after something that looks Christmassy, the Yankee candles all is bright and Christmas Eve are gorgeous but dont smell of the Christmas scents that so many others do.
