When do you out the presents out?

Do you leave it until Christmas eve or have them there constantly under the tree? I have dcs so will be doing it on Christmas eve so they don't get bashed about. My mum would always wait until Christmas eve and if we ever accidentally found the presents she would say they were for somebody else Grin

Christmas Eve I reckon this year with DS being on the ball.

ProfessorCat · 16/11/2017 19:01

Christmas Eve once DD is in bed. I hate seeing presents gathering dust under the tree for weeks, for people to guess and feel.

The magic of Christmas for me as a child was always coming down in the morning and seeing all the presents that had appeared. It still is one of my favourite parts now.

wobblywonderwoman · 16/11/2017 19:03

Not until late into Christmas Eve night. Mine are 3&4 so it would be a disaster otherwise

SleightOfMind · 16/11/2017 19:05

Presents from us to other people go under the tree as soon as they’re wrapped. Ditto presents from other humans to us.
Father Christmas presents and stockings arrive on Christmas Eve when everyone’s sleeping obv!

YesItsMeIDontCare · 16/11/2017 19:05

Christmas morning or the cat shreds the lot 🙄.

I might risk a Christmas Tree this year, but it could well be a complete disaster!

BootsCats · 16/11/2017 19:06

I’m the same as @ProfessorCat

As kids we would never see a present of any kind until we came down Christmas morning and they were all under the tree. It was truly magical. I plan to do exactly the same for my kids.

SleightOfMind · 16/11/2017 19:06

I have DCs and dogs but am strict and mean about prechristmas present fondling!

goose1964 · 16/11/2017 19:06

Christmas Eve usually but now the kids have left home I put some under the tree as I wrap them in the few days before Christmas.

Be aware though if your tree is visible from a road it can be a burglary risk to put parcels under it before the curtains are shut on Christmas Eve.

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 16/11/2017 19:12

Christmas eve here too.
Forget the kids sneaking a feel, Im a 32 year old woman and would be constantly pawing anything under the tree

Mrsmadevans · 16/11/2017 19:15

Christmas eve before we go to bed and our two are 22 and 23 yrs old lol

Crumbs1 · 16/11/2017 19:17

They are built up gradually under the tree as presents are delivered to us. Except stocking presents, obviously.

PodgeBod · 16/11/2017 19:17

Growing up we always had presents appearing under tree leading up to Christmas but this year with an almost 3 year old and a 15 month old I’m going to put them out on Christmas Eve. Partly for the look of shock on older DDs face, mostly to protect them from the baby!

Juanbablo · 16/11/2017 19:18

When family and friends bring presents to us they go straight under the tree. But preseabts from us to each other don't go under the tree until Christmas Eve.

AtlanticWaves · 16/11/2017 19:18

Christmas Eve after DC (3&6)are in bed. But I can't wait til they're older and we can put them down earlier.

I used to love watching the pile of presents getting bigger when I was a child. And we never tried to open them

confused123456 · 16/11/2017 19:18

Ours go under once ds is in bed on Xmas eve. Else they'd be open. Ds is 2, so wouldn't understand he has to wait..

Princesspowersparkle · 16/11/2017 19:19

Just before we go to bed on Christmas Eve, once we are sure there won't be any little footsteps on the stairs 'just coming down for a drink...'
Will probably still do this when DDs are both non-believers!

Findingross · 16/11/2017 19:19

Christmas Eve after the young ones have gone to bed. Eldest is 21 and youngest is 15!

OwlKiss · 16/11/2017 19:22

Once the tree goes up, we will put them under - tree will be up around the 20th so less than a week for the presents to be under there.

Leeds2 · 16/11/2017 19:30

There is only me and my 19 year old at home. I will put the presents under the tree after she has gone to bed on Christmas Eve. As usual.

AnonEvent · 16/11/2017 19:34

It's DH, DD and me at home.

Presents for or from other people get put under the tree upon arrival/wrapping.

Presents for each other are put under the tree on Christmas Eve.

Lovemusic33 · 16/11/2017 20:35

I don't put any under the tree until Christmas Eve or dd2 would open them.
When I was a child we put them under the tree as family gave them too us, so a few days before Christmas, I have great memories of poking around under the tree trying to guess what was in them.

CakeNinja · 16/11/2017 20:43

As and when they are wrapped. Presents going to relatives not at our house on Christmas Day get delivered beforehand.
Father Christmas presents obviously appear overnight along with other last minute wrapping.
The dc have never gone savage and ripped into anything, and we don’t have pets to consider. Works for us.

ShuttyTown · 16/11/2017 20:47

Late Christmas Eve so my DS (5) has the illusion Santa has delivered in the night. My childhood christmases were like this, everyone to wake up, all go downstairs together and open the door to see ‘if he’s been!’ It was so exciting and magical I love doing the same for my DS.

TheBlueMeaniesAreComing · 17/11/2017 02:21

When I was younger presents from friends went under the tree as we got them, sneakily opened and rewrapped them before hand. Everything else appeared on Christmas Eve.
In my house there are no presents under the tree until Christmas Eve. I have 3 dc under the age of 6 so would be far too stressful to have any under the tree before that
