So. Really good presents for men that are NOT...

Hip flasks (why do magazines think men want endless hip flasks?)
Books about gin (look, gin is all very well, but who wants to READ about it?!!)
Scarves, gloves, hats (as I've done these items many times over)
Toiletry sets they won't use
Novelty games, puzzles etc.

I have some very lovely men in my life (BILs, boyfriends of much-loved nieces) and I don't want to burden them with stuff they don't need or want, but I don't know them well enough to say, choose a book for them.

What presents in the £15-20 range can you get for men that are genuinely useful and not gimmicky or purely decorative (as I don't know many men who genuinely want decorative stuff...)?

All ideas received with interest and thanks!

I also ordered two jumpers and they should be arriving today. Great price, great tip. This thread is excellent - thank you!

Whisky2014 · 25/11/2017 09:57

Aw i think the woolovers deal is over. I only see 20 percent discount now

Marlboroandmalbec34 · 25/11/2017 11:35

Oh no missed the woolovers offer. 3 wallet ninjas ordered though. Great thread

MrsHathaway · 25/11/2017 11:46

Fwiw having received my Woolovers order I'd say they're definitely worth the full price, so 20% off is still a great deal. And it's on the full range including women's so more useful than the 2 for £10 which was on a very limited selection.

Justchillaxing · 25/11/2017 18:53

I've got ballroom dancer cufflinks and a dvd for FIL, now need something for £5-10 ... Any ideas?

Possibly outing (not that I care) however I maintain an Amazon wish list, that I advise is purely for guidance. With stuff from £1-£999+

It's shared with all the family with notes to advise what priority each item has and a suggestion anybody thinking of buying any item on the list, selects the text-description, right-clicks and searches for said item (as they can be a better price elsewhere)

Most men consider shops like ToolMart/MachineMart the equivalent of a jewellers or shoe shop. Even if we can't thiink of a use for a petrol-powered 2cc aero-engine, it doesn't mean we don't want one. My garage and shed is full of gadgets I use once or twice a year.

If you head over to Amazon now and click on Lightning Deals,

And don't forget socks. We love socks; especially when they replace the ones full of holes, 'cos we love those the most and they're full of holes because we wear them the most.

The 2 for £20 offer at Woolovers is still on. New10 will also give you £10 off if you order other full price items.

Underparmummy · 11/12/2017 11:33

Does anyone know anything about good underwater cameras for about the £100 mark?

DH announced that this year we should restart buying Christmas presents for each other last night.

Heattech stuff from Uniglo. Long and short sleeve t shirts in dark colours. Last year I bought my BiL some lounging around bottoms, sort of a pyjama bottom but not. He went and bought himself 3more pairs.

ImListening · 11/12/2017 14:11

goodnightfeast · 14/12/2017 22:22

I've bought this for my DH: rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.co.uk%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F302030617543

It's eco-friendly, ace for camping trips, and pretty leftfield as a gift, I reckon. I'm planning to wrap it like a huge cracker!

SweetPeaPods · 16/12/2017 22:37

Marking place to come back and read tomorrow. Really struggling with DH this year

Sallystyle · 17/12/2017 00:08
