Presents for pony-mad children?

My 6yo is crazy for ponies, and planning to put one on her list "just to see what Santa can do"!
Sadly, there is no chance of an actual pony, but has anyone got any good, possibly magical, ideas?
She has lessons and stable days already, so has hat/boots/jodhpurs...

Life size stuffed pony that can be sat on, my little ponies or one of those sticks with a horses head on the end that you can pretend to ride?

A proper rocking horse! Look out on ebay for a second hand one. Then you can buy it tack and rugs and all sorts, just like a real pony. They are pricey but we got a beautiful mahogany one, painted to look like a bay arab, for £200 one year. The modern ones tend to be two pieces glued together and they eventually warp.

Schleich horses are also rather lovely and you can buy tonnes of accessories. My kids have boxes of the stuff, people bought them pieces every birthday and Christmas.

Membership of the Pony Club? You can be a riding school member, you don't need to have your own pony, but can still get the badges/tests etc.

Some are decent/unusual items (e.g. 24 horse wall stickers for £14.50/ wooden stamping set/ cute erasers [see pics, left])...but some others seem very overpriced and run-of-the-mill!

If your DD hasn't already got it, "Horses and Ponies Top Trumps" is always popular. Amazon bargain, maybe?

Alongside the visit opportunity, kids usually get a certificate, photo of, and letter from (!), their "adoptee". Sometimes a cuddly toy horse as well.

Subscription to pony, saddle club books, hoodie with her favourite ponies picture on, her own grooming kit. I loved the model ponies when I was younger. It's hard to think of something really magical because I know what it's like to be pony mad and want to see one standing nibbling the Christmas tree I had to wait until I was 10 though

My DD loved the series Free Reign (adventures of teenagers in a stable) on Netflixs. I have got her the Ultimate Horse Box on dvd from Amazon for 9.00. It looks like three girls and horses films. She will love it

Has she got a grooming kit? I fondly remember the year I got one 🙂

We got DD the wall sticker 2 years ago, they still look great, no peeling off, nothing. Can def recommend them.

The Pony Magazine's subscription comes with a gift, we got the grooming kit last year and while I am sure there are better ones on the market it fits the purpose of being at the stable every now and then. That alone is a good gift.

DD also got hoodies, horse calendar, lots of books like the Pony Club Secret series or Pony Detective. They may be a bit much for a 6 year old to read on her own but you could read to her or do shared reading.

Are you anywhere in the SE? The championships at Hickstead are great, you could get tickets (voucher first) for the weekend in Summer. Put some spending money aside as well, the shops are great and expensive. Or look for any other horse event near where you are.

This year DD also gets a mug with her favourite horse from a riding holiday and some T-shirts with slogans.

Horse bedding, blankets or towels are also in use all the time.

My DD is turning 6 and daft about horses too. Has only been on one a couple of times.

In terms of horse toys she has the Build A Bear horse and the rug, saddle, bridle. Which she has loved.

She wants an Our Generation horse and stable for Xmas.

Like previous posters, I would say a grooming kit. I was the happiest kid alive when I got my first one!

When my dd was 6 I bought her an enormous pink unicorn. She's 18 now and still has it. He's called Kevin.
