AMAZON Fingerling? Have I been diddled? And not in a good way?!

I follow the Christmas bargain shopping thread quite avidly and it's come to my attention that some of the fingerling purchased via amazon are either fake or simply never arrive.

I Bought 7 fingerling, one for each of my nieces from amazon, the seller's are HaoranUK and XIEJI. Has anyone else purchased from these specific amazon sellers and recieved their fingerling.

I'm panicking a bit as I have already paid out for 7 fingerlings at normal price, and can't really afford to buy another 7 from a different or more reliable store until I'm refunded (if they don't come)

Estimated delivery is between now and 2nd November, I'm dreading the real possibility I've messed up and the girls aren't going to get them at all.

Thoughts please, much appreciated.

I received my black fingerling today. I bought it off Amazon. Placed pre-order on 18th October and it came yesterday. It says that it was sold by Amazon E.U. Sarl (whatever that means). I am dubious that it is real as on the side it says 'For fun interactions Friend us all'.

In the heart on the front it just says 'Baby Monkey' in several languages. Google images shows lots of boxes saying 'I react to...' in the heart.
Does anyone have a definitely genuine on with the dodgy English on the side?

FoxTeaParty · 26/10/2017 13:13

Sharon my one says the same and its from argos so i assume it is real.

Sharonkh76 · 26/10/2017 13:34

Thanks for that FoxTeaParty!

Pibplob · 26/10/2017 15:05

Ahh I think min from eBay says the same. Sure it was called a Baby Monkey rather than a Fingerling but I thought that meant it was probably a fake?

astonvanilla · 26/10/2017 17:12

I had a e mail from Discount Vouchers this afternoon and they have fingerling via the go groupie website. Have ordered one for ds as my Amazon one from Atyou hasn't materialised. Have asked for a refund but not holding my breath...

zoomer456 · 27/10/2017 08:10

I think it’s really unfair. How are you supposed to know that they are fake or won’t turn up? I ordered mine 23 September. Even if I’m refunded I probably won’t get one/ two in a shop

4forksake · 27/10/2017 10:33

Tesco have some purple fingerlings in stock & they're 342 this morning, can't imagine they'll be there for long though

XiCi · 28/10/2017 09:56

So my Amazon seller from China has replied to my email saying that the fingerling must have been stopped at customs and has offered to send another one. What do you all think? Should I accept or ask for a refund? I'm thinking it's likely to never arrive or be a fake!

BWatchWatcher · 28/10/2017 09:59

Just ask for a refund and but the tesco ones.

Amazon shopping rules to live by:

  1. "Fulfilled by Amazon" should always be your first choice for anything important or time-sensitive.
  1. If you have to buy from a 3rd party seller for whatever reason, check every single review. Check how long they have been sellers on Amazon. And most importantly, check their location. Stuff from China is usually cheap but very very likely to be fake or take a month to arrive if not stopped in customs. (Same applies for ebay btw. Just because you have searched in ebay.co.uk, does not mean the item is actually in the UK, and it pften doesn't even show up as an international seller. Filter by item location)

Amazon has some
On pre order too

sweetsomethings · 28/10/2017 13:14

The one I bought from Argos doesn't say baby monkey on the box

Bumbumtaloo · 28/10/2017 13:31

There has been huge issues with Amazon, Ebay, Wish etc if they arrive they are fake, in some cases not very good fakes. A woman posted online - including a pic of the fake fingerling that she was sold and the battery had exploded whilst her child was playing with it. She bought it in good faith from someone on a Facebook selling site who refused to give her her money back.

There are some telltale signs; They will say fingerling on the packaging and Wowee (the brand name) will be on there.
The monkey will be the same colour on the packaging as the monkey.
Real ones will have their eyes open in the packaging - a lot of fakes have the eyes closed.
The hair will be bright coloured, not faded or plastic.
There are loads of other things to look for.

Bumbumtaloo · 28/10/2017 13:37

Sorry pressed send to soon!

Different shops have exclusive ones - Toys R Us is the unicorn, Smyths is the Sloth and the Entertainer is the glitter ones.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/10/2017 17:17

This is a genuine Fingerling.

This is mine from eBay. Looks like a fake one then?

For fuck sake and some posters on here were sneering about people worried about ordering from china Hmm this is why!

^^
So I need to get a fingerling move on then, the argos one is looking good for two and the swing set!

autumnintheair · 01/11/2017 14:48

out of stock on all argos near me and says 100+ people are looking at that set Shock

Bumbumtaloo · 01/11/2017 15:56

autumnintheair The Entertainer do the same set as Argos as do Smyths but seems they are out of stock everywhere. Some stores have them in stock but do not update the website.

Smyths have got loads of fingerlings....my local one has anyway. The ones people are struggling to get now is the Unicorn and Sloth ones which Toys r us are the retailer for.

combatbarbie · 01/11/2017 16:14

Pibplob I fear that is a fake, it doesn’t have hair does it?

Pibplob · 01/11/2017 16:38

No it doesn't! So annoying that they are advertised as fingerlings. I will know for next time.

autumnintheair · 01/11/2017 17:32

My local Smyth have none however, I seemed to have managed to reserve a set in argos, forty minutes drive away! However it's a nice drive and then I have it

zoomer456 · 01/11/2017 17:51

I’m trying to get refunded on my two. I ordered in September and they’ve not arrived. Sellers not responding.? I’m daft I just assumed I was purchasing from amazon and that they could not be fakes. How are people allowed to sell these on eBay and Amazon?
