Can you remember how much you paid for last years tree?

I relocated (to the bin) our pre-lit tree this New ear , I was really Meh with it . It was a hasty purchase a few years back but never felt right.
We were going to buy a new one (pre lit of possible) but I'm not happy with what I've seen so far.
Too tall/too £££ /too plastic

Decided to cope with the needles, we've redecorated so there's a space well away from any radiators . We have a cast iron tree stand that holds 1 litre of water.

Anyone bought the Ikea tree before? Is it worth the trip out ( and wrangling it into the car)

What's the going rate for a bog standard tree , about 5'6" - 6'

I don't want to wait to get the Last Tree In The Window though, I'll buy it early Dec and keep it in the garden till 9th/10th

We buy a trad tree, so it drops needles but smells better and has LOADS of branches :)

Usually 6ft +, last year's cost about £35 IIRC. A lot more for a similar size non-drop. (like, £50+)

Freshly cut real tree from local farm for £35. About 8 foot tall and amazing!! Lasted til Jan with regular water and no dropped needles!!

About £50 for a 5 foot non drop I think - which obviously dropped

£40 for 5 foot, no needle drop but we do water it

About £65 for a fraser fir which had pine cones on the branches and smelt sooo good. We got it on 2nd Dec and took it down 4th of Jan and it had hardly dropped a needle!

About £40 for a nordman 6 ft or so from the greengrocer who delivers for free

Yes! £1 from B&Q because we were so late as we’d just moved house.

We've done Ikea twice. It has been fine, not special really and we don't touch it for fear of needle drop but you get what you pay for and for a budget tree it works. Once you cash in your voucher (we regularly shop there for bibs/kids plates etc) it's only £5.

In SW - was c. £60 for 6ft...

We've got the IKEA one the last two years. They've been fine, not particularly bad for needle drop and good value. Whether or not the voucher saves you money depends on how much random shit you end up buying on your trip in January.

We normally buy the non drop trees that are £50 ish but I got one from Ikea last year.......loves the whole grotto/music/elves/drink and biscuit offerings. Price wise it was good if you use the voucher. However, I think I was slightly allergic to it , it kind of grabbed the back of my throat. I Love sit out of the lounge about a week before Christmas and put it in the dining room.

I always buy ours in Homebase, they have a load of different types, including ones where the pines don't fall off. They're more expensive but worth if if you've got toddlers. I think we paid about £60-00 for a six foot non-shedding tree.

About £20 from Aldi usually!! Got one from the garden centre last year and it was about £35.
Aldi trees are just as good!

We have a local garden centre that we can carry it home from and they'll trim the trunk for us
We used to buy them from there until one year we left it late and got a really odd/wonky tree which was why we went fake, but TBH , I hated the fake one . Every year trying to fluff it out and not look too close. And they don't smell piney (though there's no spiders in fake )

I think this year I'll dive in mid Nov and get a price and reserve one

Nordman trees are the cheapest I think and we've paid c.£30 for these in past. We've switched to fraser firs since as much bushier (I like a full tree!) but more expensive at c £55 (can't quite remember). We go direct to supplier for freshness but not sure how/if that affects price.

Ours was an 8 foot, non-drop tree from Homebase.

It went up the last weekend in November (heathen ) and came down on January 6th looking nearly as good as new.

The branches drooped a bit because we hung baubles on the ends.

Oops! And it was £40!

Have you looked at Balsam Hill for a fake tree , we've bought a 7' prelit Fraser fir this year and it is absolutely fabulous , we bought it in one of the many 40% off sales .

We got the IKEA one last year. Bargain and very little needle drop in the month it was up (we kept it watered with lemonade!). Will be doing the same again this year as long as IKEA do it.

Ikea trees are good but sell put early. I think they're £25 but you get a £20 voucher to spend in the store.

We got a 6 foot Nordmann for £35 from Homebase as Ikea had sold out last year.

£35 for a 6.5 foot needly one from the company that sells trees outside my local Morrison's. I used to go to Homebase, but this one was much better value, with great customer service so I'm going to them again this year.

We used to get trees from a local farm shop or garden centre but the price was creeping up year on year, think the last one was about £65. Then a few years ago we tried an Ikea one and it was fantastic, needles didn't drop, lovely smell and the shape was perfect. Same every year since. £25 and you get a £20 voucher to spend in store after the January sale, can't go wrong!!

Look around for charity tree collections, our local hospice picks them up around 10th January from outside the house for a donation to the charity.
