My little boy loves role play. Everytime he sees one in playgroup ect, he loves it. So am thinking of getting him one this christmas.

Has anyone got one? What is quality like? Does it come flatpack?

MummySparkle · 17/10/2017 22:33

We do! Yes it’s flat pack, but really easy. DD loves it, it’s really sturdy. The washing up bowl goes through the dishwasher fine.

Beware if the bowl isn’t in - DS sat on it and used it as a loo Shock

Great quality and lasts for years. Love their soft play food too.

Build it before xmas day though! Takes less than an hour to build.

MummySparkle · 17/10/2017 22:49

Yes, we built ours the night before, set it up and then lightly taped some wrapping paper to the back - did the trick! The cupboards have loads of space for storing all of the pots and pans and food roll-play stuff

MummySparkle · 17/10/2017 23:10

Redshoeblueshoe I didn’t realise for a day or 2 until I noticed the smell. I quizzed DS about it, he seemed proud Grin

Katescurios · 17/10/2017 23:14

Love it! Quite simple compared to some models but gets daily play and has done for over a year, easy to assemble, robust and plenty of space in/on it for all the accessories

ijustwannadance · 17/10/2017 23:32

It also looks nice in a room. Not like the ugly big plastic ones.

MummySparkle · 17/10/2017 23:35

It has 3 height settings too”

Mrsmomo · 17/10/2017 23:46

It's fab, sturdy and has everything needed so compact too. The height settings are great. It was reduced by £20 in the run up to Christmas last year so keep an eye out in case they reduce it again. My wee girl loves hers.

Frazzled74 · 17/10/2017 23:56

Would the sizing be ok for a 5/6 year old? Dd would love this.

ijustwannadance · 18/10/2017 00:29

I think it's a bit small for a 5-6 year old. But then my 6yo is very tall!

TheDrsDocMartens · 18/10/2017 07:35

My (small) 7 year old plays with it

FloatingCamel · 18/10/2017 08:30

It comes with extra leg lengtheners to make it higher

mmgirish · 18/10/2017 09:21

We have it. It's great. It took my husband a lot longer than an hour to put it together though... maybe he was just enjoying the peace with a few beers.

MrsMotherHen · 18/10/2017 10:38

mummysparkle That is so funny!!!!
yep definatly going to get it for him. With the pots and pans. Cant wait to see his little face.

If you google Ikea duktig kitchen hack you'll see all the amazing makeovers people have done. I bought a 2nd hand one for £25 and currently doing it up for my son for Christmas.

I've sprayed all the cupboards charcoal grey and have added sticky back vinyl to make marble worktop. Sink, tap and handle are all sprayed copper! I think I'm a little bit too In to it!

MrsMotherHen · 18/10/2017 12:40

that looks brilliant!

Chatoyant · 18/10/2017 12:48

We bought it for my eldest when she was 2, shes 6.5 now and it honestly still looks good as new despite being played with by numerous children.

BlueKarou · 18/10/2017 17:20

Oooh, loving the make over idea. I've currently got one boxed and in the hallway, my one really early purchase, and pretty much the only thing my 20mo is going to get. I think he's going to love it. I'm asking grandparents to get some pots and pans and food type things.

Great tip on the building it the night before. Much better idea than presenting a toddler with a large heavy cardboard box!

ShesAStar · 18/10/2017 18:29

We've had this kitchen for about 5/6 years and it's been played with almost every day and still looks like new. Always gets played with when other DC come round.

NapQueen · 18/10/2017 18:30

They hold their value too. We had ours for about 5 years. Sold it fpr 45quid.

Stompythedinosaur · 18/10/2017 19:21

My 6yo still plays with this, def not too small for a 5/6yo in my opinion.

ladyvimes · 18/10/2017 19:24

Love it! Had ours 4 years and it’s still played with all the time and still looks great!

EssaysOfElia · 18/10/2017 19:25

My 6yo and 3yo got the kitchen last year for Christmas.
It's their most played with toy and it's so sturdy (my 3yo is a bit of a brute! 😁)
My kids are both tall for their age but it's a great height for them both!
I'd definitely recommend it!
