Your most memorable Christmas present?

Every year I work hard to get my children their 'must have' gift that will make their Christmas, but I do wonder if, years on, they'll even remember what they got.

My most memorable present was aged 9, a brand new 10 speed bike. Memorable because it finally dawned on me that there was no way it came in a sleigh (though I tried half heartedly to insist that one of FC's elves must have ridden it) so for me that present meant the end of FC. I loved that bike though!

If you were to ask my 7 year old, his most memorable present was a 99p blow up dinosaur he got when he was 4 (and not the tablet, RC cars, tractor ride on or Hatchimsl he's had since then)!

A bike, a white racer bike with silver handles... Also for some reason a lilac stains setting, cindy doll and chicaboobboo and monopoly.

As a child I was obsessed with 101 Dalmatians and dalmatians in general.
One year the hot new toy was the Teksta robotic dog and I begged for one. My parents tracked down and got me a special edition Dalmatian Teksta (my mum said she had to write in to a TV programme to find one, even). It was a massive surprise (I didn't know Dalmatian ones existed) and I loved it. I think I was 8 or 9. Best Christmas present ever.

Guinea-Pig when I was 9yo.
I'm 51 now and keep guineapigs with my DD so I guess it was the start of a long term love affair.

13 hardback Famous Five novels in my sack, I was about nine and had just discovered the thrill of adventure novels and loved the Famous Five. It really felt like all my Christmases had come at once! That love for reading those novels led me down my career path.

Another one saying bike. My parents did a treasure hunt after all the presents had been opened and we (me and DB) thought we'd received all our gifts. It was purple with green glitter on it and I loved it!

I remember getting a shop, we had a bay window and my Grandad and dad had made it for me and it was all set up in the bay window. I was around 5-6 I think.

As a teenager I asked for a video player/recorder, I was a little disappointed that I hadn't received one I mentioned it to my dm as it was the only thing I really wanted. She got a bit flustered and quiet whispers with my Dad turns out they had forgotten they had hid it in the loft.

A Barbie aeroplane when I was about 8. And some real ugg boots when I was 16. 😂 I cried when opening one but not the one you'd think 🤔

A car when I was 21 but as a child it was a horse play set that was that years must have and so I had been prepared in advance that santa might struggle. I was over the moon to see it on Christmas morning. From my husband it was headcollars for my horses. It was a tiny present in his eyes but really thoughtful so he has never managed the same reaction from me much to his annoyance

Love this thread! I remember so many if my Christmas presents but probably my most memorable one is a keyboard. I'd asked for one and when it came to Christmas morning I'd opened all my presents and there was no keyboard. I don't remember feeling especially upset, more confused as I was so sure I'd heard a keyboard being 'tested' a few weeks before. Anyway it was time to throw away the wrapping paper and dad asked me to help him get bin bags out of the kitchen and as I walked into the kitchen, there was my keyboard.
When we were much younger, my dad had converted the loft into a playroom and I had a sindy house up there and my brother had an amazing Hornby train set set up all around the loft. It had trees, villages, tunnels, lights it was amazing and must have taken months.
Christmas has always been such a huge part of our family and I'm fairly sure my own kids will feel the same.

My most memorable present was a huge gift box filled with every Friends tape (at that point series 1-5).

Granted it was memorable because at that stage I had seen approximately 4 episodes at my best friends house and wasn't particularly fussed on it... but after watching from the start I was am hooked and continued to add to my collection until it finished the replaced the lot with DVD's :o

When I was about 6 I so badly wanted a Sindy doll. I opened the present from my parents first, and inside was a blonde ballerina sindy. I later opened a present from my grandma which unexpectedly contained another sindy, this one a brunette! I was thrilled and for the next few years got sindy stuff every Christmas and birthday.

A pc, it was bought for me and my brother to share.. they hid it in the kitchen so we opened all our presents from santa first and then went into the kitchen to have our breakfast and there it was! All set up..

I also remember a bike that year but I wasn't fussed on it 🙈.

A FURBY! The first time they come out, they were sold out everywhere. I remember my parents ringing toys r us every morning to see if they had stock so we could have one for xmas. One day they had stock and we literally got straight in the car to get it!

Also a tamigochi ... they were also sold out everywhere... I got one tho

I'm mid 20s so I'm probably remember some of they newer ish sold out stuff!

A writing bureau when I was 10. I just really wanted one and my parents got me a beautiful antique looking one. I think they thought I was going to grow up and be an author but I didn't, I do still love old furniture though but sadly don't have the money to buy any!

This is getting me all excited for Christmas now.

A pair of brown suede roller boots when we went to my Aunt's in America. They hadn't quite hit the UK so when I came back all my friends where queuing up to try them on.
And a bike. God, I loved that bike. It was a Chopper. All the boys in our street were jealous.

A black mambo yo-yo.

My mum had no patience with fads etc and that year yo-yos were everywhere. They were quite dear for yo-yos, about a tenner and I didn't even ask for one as I knew she would dismiss it as a waste of money for what it was.

It was actually a stocking present and I was so delighted upon opening it. My dad has later confessed that he and my mum were quite bemused that my favourite present that year was a stocking filler after thought.

When I was 21, my fiance gave me a horse for Christmas. He was stunning and I adored him. Three weeks later, I had a very serious accident on him and he was sold a few months later. I got another horse, who I loved devotedly, but I will never forget the joy of getting a horse for Christmas.

As a child, it was getting books of any description and when I was about 12, my older brother got me a box of chocolates. i felt really grown up then, as my brother always bought a box of chocolates for my DM and DGM.

As a child it was a Wendy house, it was put up in the lounge and I can still remember the excitement. As an adult there are two a violin my then boyfriend bought me as I've always wanted to learn (I haven't learnt how to play but I still have it, my daughter plays so I'm keeping it for her). My second would be my engagement ring, my husband proposed on Christmas Eve.

My husband bought me a metre squared of land in the Scottish highlands, which means I'm legally allowed to use "Lady" in front of my name. I'm obsessed with the outlander books and tv show, so it was an amazing present!!

I can't really remember anything special from when I was a child. I did have a Mr frosty, but it was rubbish!

My ds 1 is ten, and I asked him what's his favourite Xmas present that he can remember, and he said it's his toothless the Dragon pillow pet. I got it from aliexpress for a fiver about 3 years ago.

Mine was a ballerina sindy she had lilac tutu and brunette hair and a pair of winey fur slippers, Santa used to put our gifts on the end of our bed I remember hearing santa coming into my room I kept my eyes tight shut didn't peep stayed till morning I was 6 or 7 imagine if I'd looked.

My favourite was a few years ago and dh bought and filled a stocking for me.
Doesn't sound much but I never had stockings as a child, and he knows it's my absolute favourite thing to do for the dc.
It was only little things inside; smellies, candles, chocs and socks etc but I was crying as I was opened it! I remember him telling me to hurry up and open my big presents but it honestly meant so, so much to me!

One year aged about 8 I got a pair of stilts and a pair of roller skates, wonderful memories of "skiing" down the road!!
