I've just changed my phone keyboard pad to a Christmas theme, it has rudolph acoss a midnight sky with snow effect! Nearer the time my ring tone will change to The Christmas Song (Chestnuts roasting...) What changes do you make to everyday things to embrace the season?

Not much really: bedding, tea towels, hand towels and doormat!

peachy94 · 30/09/2017 22:49

Ornaments and candles get swapped out, tea towels, phone case and background, Christmas music is on as much as OH will tolerate it. I want to do bedding this year if I can persuade Scrooge 😒 X

Xmas Grin

Cracks knuckles: on Dec 1st:

Dining room table has its Christmas oilcloth
Bathroom and downstairs loo have Christmas toilet roll
Christmas hand towels
L'Occitane Cinnamon Orange soap
Kitchen gets Christmas Teatowels

Bedding (though DD has her winter bedding on 1st Nov) DS has his red-side-up till after his birthday then we flip it over to snowflake side
Christmas cushions and a throw for the sofa

The Christmas Yankee Candles come out.
My phone ringtone is Fairytale of New York all year round . The Pogues aren't just for Christmas Xmas Wink

Decorations go up after DS birthday

poisonedbypen · 30/09/2017 23:05

Blimey. Nothing until last year when I got some Christmassy soap!

Fantasticmissfoxy · 30/09/2017 23:10

Doormat
Hand towels in bathroom
Toilet paper (sucker for the M&S Christmas bog roll 😬)
Tea towels
Hand wash
Kitchen roll
Candles on kitchen table
Wreath on kitchen wall (have spring Easter one, summer one, autumn one and Christmas one)
Oilcloth on kitchen table
Napkins
Kids bedding (duvet cover and pillows and throws)

Oh god it looks bloody ridiculous now I see it written down 🙈

Fantasticmissfoxy · 30/09/2017 23:11

Oh and the zoflora - cinnamon spice (just to retain my mumsnet badge)

tinytoucan · 30/09/2017 23:14

I have Christmas salt and pepper pots, throws and cushions. This year I want to add bedding and tea towels, and I've been looking for Christmas placemats for the last few years but not found any I like. Maybe this year will be the year!

NoWordForFluffy · 30/09/2017 23:15

Oh yes. I forgot the cushions!

tigercub50 · 30/09/2017 23:27

Not much at all with the everyday stuff although I love Christmas & have a lot of decorations. We have Father Christmas salt & pepper pots & if I remember, we do a festive answerphone message

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 30/09/2017 23:33

Oh yes, I have a Christmas doormat too.

I'd sneak in a Christmas looseat cover and pedestal mat but I'm sure DH would be Humbuggy and DS would aim wonky to jepodise it

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2017 00:02

A drowned in piss pedestal mat would be BAD! 😂

All bedrooms have Christmas bedding, Christmas tissues and their own Christmas tree.
The bathroom has Christmas hand towel, soap, toilet roll and hand cream.
The kitchen has Christmas table cloth, kitchen roll, Christmas cups, plates, bowls, salt and pepper, tea towels, soap plus decorations
The living room (besides Christmas decorations) has a Christmas throw, cushions, coasters and tissues.
The hall has a Christmas doormat.
Outside is decorated so much that it looks like Blackpool with various inflatables and projectors (it's not at all tasteful!!)
My house pretty much looks like Christmas has thrown up on it!! Not very tasteful but I love it Wink

BusySittingDown · 01/10/2017 08:00

Ah, I love you lot!

I can’t wait to start stealing some of these ideas.

All mugs/glasses packed away and replaced with christmas ones.

All downstairs ornaments packed away and replaced with christmas ones.

Christmas loo roll comes out for parties and on christmas eve.

House phone ring tone changes to jingle bells.

Mobile ring tone changes to a Christmas song. Not sure which one this year yet.

Mobile phone case gets changed to a Christmas one.

My fold away shopping bag in my handbag gets swapped for a Christmas one.

My little diamond stud earrings get swapped for little snowmen.

Biscuit barrel gets replaces with a Santa one.

tootsieglitterballs · 01/10/2017 08:40

I may have not yet put away the Christmas cushions from last year ....

ememem84 · 01/10/2017 08:56

I bought brushed cotton winter bedding last year so come Dec 1 that will go on.

We have Christmas mugs which will come out. The candles in my storm lanterns will be changed from white church candles to silver glittery ones.

tootsieglitterballs · 01/10/2017 08:57

I may also still be using the Christmas mugs...

NoWordForFluffy · 01/10/2017 08:59

Our Christmas blankets in the lounge stay out all year! Xmas Grin

Threenme · 01/10/2017 09:00

Literally everything I can! I looooove Christmas!! I even swap the kids for real life elves Dec 1st!!!
Really stuff like tea towels, cups, plates, table clothes, place settings, settee throws, door mats, bedding! Anything I can I do!

jo10000 · 01/10/2017 09:01

Loving that you all get into the Christmas spirit! I also have Christmas throws, a cushion cover, cups, mats, door mat, candle scents, pjs, sweet holders, I buy festive kitchen roll but for some reason not toilet roll. And I usually change furniture around so its more snuggly and conducive for me and kids watching Christmas films together.
