What are you planning on getting your DC?

tistheseason2bjolly · 26/09/2017 16:30

I need ideas please. Instead of starting a thread asking specifically for ideas just for my DC, I thought we could write the age of the DC and what you are planning on getting them in order for it to be useful for everyone :)

Thanks in advance.

just a few ideas so far:

Dd (9) - Jacqueline Wilson magazine subscription, Fimo clay stuff, spin pins hair thingies, initial necklace, personalised toiletry bag, loads of books, lush bath bombs

I still feel like I should get her some sort of toy even though she doesn't play with toys much anymore...

Ds (14) - items from DofE expedition kit list, Friends of the Earth t-shirt, subscription to The Week, silly socks, yet another cheap watch for him to lose, PS4 vouchers, yet another pencil case for him to lose.

@fairyofallthings Yes I've got ds aged 10 COD (age 16 not 18 version). He's had the worst possible year having surgery, radiotherapy and chemo for a brain tumour. Rightly or wrongly it's what he's asked for and has played it over friends houses. He's doing well at the moment but, well life is too short.

Sorry to hear that Muddling I hope DS has a better year ahead.

I have 17 and 16 year old DSs who had COD at a similar age, they are the most gentle, laid back boys you could imagine. I don't even get any chat back or anything from them. We have such a quiet peaceful household and they don't play games like that at all anymore. DS2 barely games at all. I wish they'd keep their rooms tidier of course, but it's not a big deal in the grand scheme of things.

muddling I'm sorry. Me and my big mouth. I hope that he and you have a better year and that your son enjoys the game.

Those of you with slime obsessed dc
Just a little tip. Buy plenty of cheap plastic boxes. Pound shop b&m etc. I mean the quite small ones. These are perfect for storing the slime in. Dd used some of my boxes and it left a slight smell.

Thank you for your kind words @waxonfeckoff and kkkkaty123.

@fairyofallthings You weren't to know. You're not the first to question COD and I'm pretty certain you won't be the last lol.

Hope you all have a lovely Christmas.

I am pretty sure that my nephew played COD from being about 11 anyway. Older brothers, lovely lad, he seemed to love it. Seems to have outgrown it now, approaching 16.

Must add that I have no idea what COD actually involves so not sure why the Shock.

In Muddling’s shoes and after her DS’s ordeal I would be buying him anything he wanted as well. Smiles are priceless and the lad has had a lot to smile about this year.

Thanks muddling 😂 84 sleeps ..... and I still have no idea at all what to buy anyone.

muddling my ds1 had COD from early age 10, also the 16 one, it’s no more violent than Ben10, or any of the films, which are all rated 12A-15... ds played it before giving him it and he does not see the fuss around this particular game, dh turned off the gore and the swearing, the swearing he’s heard worse tbh, (large Scottish family) and the gore well it’s pretty lame, ds is also a child who knows the difference between fake and real, it also helps he has family in the military.

Ds no longer plays with it, he’s rather be out with friends, he may start playing with it more with the darker nights looming, but currently his peer group have been playing rocket league.

I hope your being kind to yourself and your son makes a full recovery, all my love Flowers

Ds1- just turned 10. Is not giving me any ideas except "anything football related". He already has a million footballs and he just got new football boots, Astro trainers, shin pads, Man U shirt and a few other things for his birthday. So I don't know. He did want FIFA 18 but they don't make it for the PS3 so maybe we will get him a PS4 with FIFA 18.

Dd- 7. All she wants is an Our Generation doll. But I don't know if she will actually play with it.

Ds2- 3. A hot wheels track or garage.

These are ideas for presents from us. From Santa they will get a book, a DVD, a game, some small toys, pens, socks, chocolate etc.
