DS10 says No to a 5 year old and a switch as they are not very durable and break if dropped. Also claims they are very intricate.

Waitrose had lots of half price health and beauty items in store today, including Korres and Waitrose Pure range. Looks like they have a new own range brand on half price special too. Hot cloth cleanser looks good. They were also selling off some Cath Kidston and Lanolips for a quarter of the original price. Worth a look if you're planning on making a beauty hamper.

stressbucket1 · 10/09/2017 15:41

I have just ordered a few bits from TQ toys. They have a lot of Melissa and Doug craft stuff quite a bit cheaper than Amazon. Free delivery over £30 too.

Hedgyhoggy · 10/09/2017 16:42

Ds want lol surprise doll for Christmas. I've been following the price on amazon and they seemed to be quite low in comparison to elsewhere. E.g. Mermaid lol £4.97 and some other lol's for around the same price. Do you think these are the real things?

MamaMiaBebe · 10/09/2017 17:22

HedgyHoggy those are fake Lol Dolls I think. The ones I've seen on eBay and Amazon mostly seem to be fakes, according to reviews.

Highmaintenancefemalestuff · 10/09/2017 18:37

Toys r us 2 for 15 pound. Getting rid of stock ready for Christmas stock.

neverenough we've always had a normal wii and then a wiiU here - ds (10) and dd (6) both love it, especially mario kart.
I have no idea about Nintendo switch.

angelabbie · 10/09/2017 20:00

joining very late but just ordered three things x

"This is why I need to use an app and not a piece of scrunched up old paper which gets lost

Cupoteap · 10/09/2017 20:38

Trolls I like the sounds of the red notebook

MooPointCowsOpinion · 10/09/2017 20:46

HedgyHoggy LOL dolls are a huge hit with my Dd(7), she bought 3 with birthday money and got another 3 as presents. They're so pricey! I didn't realise but there are series 1, series 2 and lil sister versions. The lil sister versions have accessories in that only fit the series 1 and 2 dolls so although the lil sisters are cheaper sometimes, you have to buy them together with a big sister version 1 or 2.

Prosecco and G&T boiled sweets in Home Bargains today- might be good for hampers?

@BanoffeePieIsMyFave They are bargains!!! Need to go and stock up on a wee stash.
Thanks.

I'm especially waiting for the great Molton Brown offer... and a nice photo one- do you remember the a4 acrylic print a few years ago?

BanoffeePieIsMyFave · 10/09/2017 21:13

@ja9r if I remember correctly a lot of us were waiting expectantly last year for a great Molton brown offer and it was nowhere near as good as the previous years Envy

Sayhellotothelittlefella · 10/09/2017 21:24

Oooh hello! I think I was on thread 2 and then lost you all. It's getting serious now.
Already bought DH' s present ( tickets to Michael McIntyre) and have a few smaller presents and lots of ideas for stocking fillers for younger ones. Struggling with ideas of what to get/ how much to spend on my DS 20yo. Lots of excellent links here. Thanks

MarriedAroundChristmas · 10/09/2017 21:45

neverenough Spoke to DH30 who said a switch might not be great for a 5yo. Depends if you'll be using it as a handheld device and then on the tv also, as that's what it's designed to do. It will require constant setting up by you if that's the case. There are limited games at the minute as well. He suggested a gameboy as a better option for a 5yo, but I remember that you said it would be for and older child. So are you just hoping the 5yo can play too? If so, they should be able to play whilst the older child sets it up etc. Sorry for the ramble!

John Lewis Christmas shop open online. Tab on the main menu.

Trollspoopglitter · 10/09/2017 22:01

Ginger, in allegiance to the bargain hunter thread, I regularly stalk the discounted stationary shelves in both Homesense and Tk Max. After a couple of years, I've amassed a lovely collection of leather notebooks for £1-3 each, and even coveted a few red notebooks from Liberty and Leathersmiths of London (retailing for £40-60 each) for under a tenner each. I'm good for the next decade GrinGrin

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 10/09/2017 22:42

neverenough I think the switch will be a bit too complicated for a 5 yr old also there's not many games available yet. Handheld device you would be best buying the 2DS - dd1 has had one for a few years and loves it, dd2 (5) is getting one this year to stop her pinching her sisters. They play all the original ds games aswell as the new ones. 😀

Sogrowjo · 10/09/2017 22:49

Hedgy I just made a big order with Very that included a much wanted hatchimal and a 2 pack of LOL dolls. The LOL dolls were £19 and then I got the20% off first order, so worked out much cheaper (and meant I also got the hatchimal for £51 instead of £65)

Phew!!!

NeverEnoughSleep1 · 10/09/2017 23:15

Thanks for all the advice on the switch

married I have older SDC so me and DP were thinking it could be a good present for them all to get use out of and as it can be two player could be good for us all to use but if it's not going to very suitable for younger DC then might be worth giving it a miss

bunningsbunny · 10/09/2017 23:29

There are quite a few Christmas magazines out now...

And turkey ordering has started... Just had an email from Costco with the details of their turkeys, from Jimmy's Farm, price includes delivery... Doesn't mention who does the deliveries - not sure I'd be happy if it ended up being delivered by Yodel or similar ShockGrin
