Re. the Smyths sale, what does the discount generally tend to be? I'm planning a trip there soonish so not sure whether to coincide with sale weekend and possible bedlam...but only if the sale is actually decent!

Do they tend to get very busy at the sale weekend? I went to my new local one a few weeks ago and was inspired to buy stuff in RL rather than online for ds1, there were so many things there I wouldn't have found online. But I HATE the whole 'elbow out' sale shopping thing.

Seen those light boxes with white board type pen for £4.99 in Home Bargains! Looks exactly the same as the one MInster2012 mentioned. I brought one for a friends son for 12th birthday, thought good idea for his bedroom.

@ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual it's 20% off everything excluding games consoles, games and some electricals. My top tip would be to get there as early as possible on the first day if you can. The sale runs Friday to Sunday, I'll be at my local one about 8.30am with my list in hand, getting what I need as leaving asap!

Oh no, I've lost my Christmas list of who I've allocated what, eek! This is why I need to use an app and not a piece of scrunched up old paper which gets lost

I am going to drive to Smyths sale on Friday after school drop off so won't get there until about 10.30 and will have two year old in tow alas. But want to get £100 toy for ds for bday so will be well worth it.

@singadream Smyths have a live stock checker on their website so you can see whether it's in stock before you go.

Sainsburys had a hot wheels set reduced from £23 to £11.50 today. Some of the cars were half price too.

I assume they don't inflate their prices before discounting like cheeky Argos sometimes do...

Was it this thread where people were excited about matalan's Christmas stuff? If so I was in there today and the lady at the till said that the Christmas stuff will be in store in 2 weeks time.
