Hello - and help!

I have a teeny business (if you could call it that!) doing illustrations and cards.
I'm just getting myself organised to get a few Christmas card designs done, and I'm not feeling inspired 😕
What designs are you drawn too?
I mainly do animals, landscapes. I have a stag and a penguin from last year, and a robin and a polar bear that are maybes!

I am open to ideas.....hit me!!

Usually lifeboats (RNLI).

Stellato · 05/09/2017 19:27

The penguin take over of Christmas mystifies me a bit. I assume the South Pole was feeling left out of the whole business?

I like my Christmas cards to be non-religious (so no three wise men etc) but fairly traditional in subject matter. Stockings, trees, mistletoe etc.

I like buildings, middle eastern buildings with flat roofs and domes or NYC-esque citiscapes.
I love dark blue as a base colour with icy white or vibrant pink/purple/green colours combined.

A pheasant.

AndNoneForGretchenWieners · 05/09/2017 19:29

I like a funny card. Or a reindeer and Father Christmas. Or a snowy village scene.

Snausage · 05/09/2017 19:30

Stags, pheasants in the snow

BenLui · 05/09/2017 19:31

I prefer a card that gives at least a nod to the nativity.

Last year's cards had a star on them.

SavoyCabbage · 05/09/2017 19:32

I like a post box. Maybe with a robin. And snow. Not penguins, penguins aren't festive. And if the polar bears are with the penguins

yawning801 · 05/09/2017 19:32

Robins, snow and a Christingle if that's your thing Smile

WeatherDependent · 05/09/2017 19:32

I like animals and snow, my favourite card ever was a close up of a Highland cow with snow on his head. I'm easily pleased Wink

TheDoodleDotLady · 05/09/2017 19:35

Thank you - some fab ideas!
I am in a pretty rural area, so I might have a go at a hare. And I think the Robin is a safe bet!
The penguin was the most popular last year - not sure what the draw to penguins is, but he was a cute one 😊

Satan.

BroomstickOfLove · 05/09/2017 19:38

Stagecoaches. I love a good stagecoach in the snow card, and they are getting hard to find.

TheDoodleDotLady · 05/09/2017 19:39

@namechanger22 😊

I used to like the cutsie cards but as I've got older I'm liking the more traditional type with lots of colour. I like the lovely festive scenes of kids playing in the snow and if it's a Santa type card I like the more kind of grown up versions rather than cartoon characters if that makes sense! 🎗

PotteringAlong · 05/09/2017 19:42

I like the nativity on mine in some way shape or form. It's a religious festival and I only buy cards that reflect that.

WhyNotDuckie · 05/09/2017 19:43

I like cards with nativity scenes, three wise men etc.

NextInLine · 05/09/2017 19:44

If you're selling locally you could use the local area. For example a local monument with a robin, or an interesting building covered in snow?
I love Christmas cards with wild animals though, deer, pheasants, squirrels etc.

TheFaerieQueene · 05/09/2017 19:44

Animals

HattiesBackpack · 05/09/2017 19:45

I like a bit of silver glitter, and I'm not ashamed to admit it, so there ! Grin

I also like woodland scenes/animals, or ones with a nativity theme.

Crumbs1 · 05/09/2017 19:45

I won't buy cards that don't show a connection to the nativity. They are Christmas cards, after all.

MsHippo · 05/09/2017 19:46

I like grown up and classy rather than cutesy or kitch. Star over stable/three wise men/robin/snowy scene all good.

IfYouGoDownToTheWoodsToday · 05/09/2017 19:47

I like that the traditional cards too, and colour is really important. must have some red in there.

NerrSnerr · 05/09/2017 19:48

I usually buy two different kinds. Animals for none religious folk and something from the nativity for religious people.
