I'm using new same as @SoSlowMo which is handy for keeping track of purchases and intended purchases. I can't get them "ideas" tab to work so am just adding ideas under each recipient for now

Twirlstwirlstwirls · 31/08/2017 16:56

Ohhh that Ness link is brilliant, thank you so much - lovely bag & matching purse bought for MIL's Christmas (or SIL's birthday) Thanks v much.

MrsCrimbo74 · 31/08/2017 17:20

Smiggle Advent calendar is now on sale £25.00, buy 2 save 10% or buy 3 save 15%

Llamacorn · 31/08/2017 18:45

The entertainer has a 'mega weekend' on with up to 75% off. Haven't managed to look myself yet but thought it might be good to somebody.

Annwithnoe · 31/08/2017 18:55

My boys were poring over the Lego advent calendars in the shop today. Any thoughts on getting the best price on these? I left it too late one year Xmas Sad and panic-purchased too early last year just in case. I think the best deal I saw was in the smyths 20% off sale. Argos just raised its price in the 3-4-2. dont know how long I can sit on my hands!
The price of the Star Wars one is eye watering

VoldemortsNipple · 31/08/2017 19:11

Thanks EnglishRose I ordered 2 Gruffalo board books for half price and got the freebies for work (nursery) from House of Marbles. Even with the postage it was £1 cheaper than if I'd paid full price for the books

You ain't seen nothing yet:

I wonder whether there'll be many requests for this?

FireflyGirl · 31/08/2017 19:15

There's only 9 things included in the Entertainer 'mega weekend sale'... unless they add more, I'm not sure it's living up to its 'mega' title...

Llamacorn · 31/08/2017 19:36

firefly I told you I hadn't checked - oops 🙈 Not very mega lol.

Reastie · 31/08/2017 19:41

Well, it'll only count as mega if those 9 things are drastically discounted firefly...

Went to Bicester discount village today and was excited about it but it was a huge let down. I think this thread has spoilt me for bargains as I was in shops and the discounts were not nearly enough!! I was in molten brown and couldn't bring myself to buy anything after the great offers we had for a couple of years and in l'occitaine it looked like they were trying to sell some of the free gift sets they usually give out on their online orders when you spend a set limit and so didn't feel I could buy them for people as gifts as they might think I got it free. I took my Christmas list with me and got nothing apart from some things for Father Christmas to give me.

Ann maybe put a camelcamelcamel price alert on the lego advent calendars you like in hope they go down.

Foof hope the iPhone situ isn't terminal.

Chad valley paint your own dolls house only £3.99 in Argos. Its mainly cardboard but comes with lots of stickers and good reviews. Could I please also ask for recommendations for dolls to go in the bath that don't go mouldy? Am having to throw beloved dolly away tonight as she's become a health hazard!

NeitherNowtNorSummat01 · 31/08/2017 19:57

@reastie I have been to Bicester about 5 times now and have come out empty handed every time.
It always amazes me when I see people armed with bags!

lifelongfrugaleer · 31/08/2017 20:02

Thanks for the smiggle and Ness links

Reastie · 31/08/2017 20:08

Neither there were a lot of foreign tourists about so maybe the exchange rate is making things good for them to buy. I can see it would be a good place if you wanted a slightly cheaper designer handbag etc but for general bargain hunting not as big discounts as I was expecting.

Happy land Farm is half price on Mothercare, £80 reduced to £40

Bravas · 31/08/2017 20:11

Matalan have big boxes of games/craft sets in their sale at the moment. I got a big jokes box, their version of pie face, glitter tattoo set and a spy set for £5-6 each. Nit sure if just in store or online too.

Bravas · 31/08/2017 20:12

*not

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 31/08/2017 20:12

I have another question. Does anyone remember the discount website from last year? It wasn't just toys, a lot of it was rubbish but I got a huge box of mr men jigsaws for next to nothing. It also had annuals from like 2012 for 30p but I can't for the life of my recall it's name!

PicardsCombOver · 31/08/2017 20:25

girlwiththeyellow Halfcost?

imsorryiasked · 31/08/2017 20:42

Annwithnoe not exactly what I imagined Anne of Green Gables in but this one has puffed sleeves?

SimplyNigella · 31/08/2017 20:50

Ocado have a 40% discount on various toys including some of the bigger Lego sets. There's a £40 minimum order but there are always new customer offers available (I can send you a referral discount if you need one).

unfortunateevents · 31/08/2017 21:01

Re Smuggle advent calendars, someone will remember better than me but wasn't there a to-do over them last year because the daily gifts were either rubbish or a series of erasers day after day?

imsorryiasked · 31/08/2017 21:12

There was someone on here last year who was after leopard stuff. Damaged box hence discount.

imsorryiasked · 31/08/2017 21:14

That should have said snow leopard

imsorryiasked · 31/08/2017 21:25
