Can anyone advise on music subscriptions? My DS seems to just have started enjoying listening to music but at the moment he just streams free stuff, I think from Spotify, which won't let him download on that basis. I am a member of Amazon Prime but don't pay for the music unlimited. I'd like him to be able to listen to music without adverts and download some bits and pieces (he doesn't have much storage space on his phone).

TitsalinaBumSquash · 28/08/2017 10:00

I have just got 6 little bits and bobs for the kids for £35 and an £11 saving at IWOOT the code is 6FOR35 or they're doing 3FOR18.

We have a Spotify subscription Sixp. I don't use it much, but DH and the DC really rare it. It's very rare to come across a track, however obscure, that's not on there. I have no idea what we pay, but if your DS is already using the free version he's probably got playlists set up that he could migrate across to a paid subscription.

SockEatingMonster · 28/08/2017 10:42

really rate it

Cupoteap · 28/08/2017 11:19

Thanks bunning I had no idea argos did anything secondhand - brilliant. So then I'd just get a sim only contract right? I'm so clueless! He wouldn't be using it for actually phoning anyone just texting and probably anwee bit data .

lionsleepstonight · 28/08/2017 11:45

Sorry if I sound dim @bunningsbunny but how do you find the second hand iPhone at Argos? Was is a special search like Amazon warehouse?

MyHouse2011 · 28/08/2017 11:53

Wormwoodm tha ks for the Anthropologie code though I've spent a fortune Grin

cookiefiend · 28/08/2017 11:59

I got a second had phone for my mum from music magpie. It seems to be fine. Watch their website they do offers every so often- 10% off etc. They have a 12 month guarantee I think and are quite a big company so I felt not too worried about it (from memory you can pay by PayPal too for extra protection).

NishMcFish · 28/08/2017 12:02

GiffGaff do reconditioned phones that looked good. We got a sim with unlimited texts and plenty of minutes for £5 a month from 3.

Sixp · 28/08/2017 12:15

SockEatingMonster Thanks, I'll ask him about the playlists.

MyHouse2011 · 28/08/2017 12:18

Thanks Woodwaj that beauty and the beast advent calendar is perfect for my DD.

VinoTime · 28/08/2017 13:26

Argos are flogging Now TV Boxes for half price with free monthly passes for Entertainment/Sky sports/Sky Movies, etc.

Clicky link. I managed to wrangle one with a 4 month kids TV pass for only £12.49, but they're selling out very quickly.

cookiefiend · 28/08/2017 13:29

For now tv, if you already have a box or just want to play it on your iPad etc then you can buy the monthly passes cheaply on eBay. We got the cinema channels last time on a pass for less than £3 a month- gave us sky movies and their big catalogue. I think I'll do it again in the run up to Christmas as the films are usually good then.

NoWordForFluffy · 28/08/2017 14:22

That's a great tip, cookiefiend as we are overrun with boxes and sticks (Humax, Apple TV, Fire stick, surround sound Blu Ray player and a Western Digital 1TB passport). We really don't need another one!

SlayeroftheVampyres · 28/08/2017 14:23

Some good bargains to be had on jewellery in the Pia Sale, particularly for teens, like the seashell charm bracelet reduced from £15 to £3.

lastkisstoo · 28/08/2017 14:49

theftbyfinding

I can vouch for that box, I bought one for my 13 year old for her birthday and she loved it. It is a beautiful keepsake box and all the products are high end. There was nothing in it she won't use.

Can't find the post on the old thread but someone posted a link to Amazon for wooden tools in a lovely box reduced from £30 to £20.
Studio have the same toy personalised for £16/17 (can't remember which).

TKRedLemonade · 28/08/2017 15:04

If anyone sees any deals on those silly mashems can they post? DD 3 is obsessed since her cousin introduced them to her and I swear it's all she wants for Christmas so might get a few for her stocking

jenniferl1983 · 28/08/2017 15:58

Thank you Tattybogle for the Trolls Poppy Plush link. My 4 year old loves Poppy and that's a great price.

GingerAndTheBiscuits · 28/08/2017 16:21

@TKRedLemonade - our local wilkos were selling frozen ones for 75p last week!

@Sixp - husband and I have a family Spotify subscription and love it. I have playlists for the kids, DH uses it at work almost all day and I usually have it on most weekends. My current data package doesn't allow for much streaming out of the house but I'll be making sure my next phone contract has Spotify streaming for free. You can download songs too to make them available offline/off wifi. For the playlists it creates for you alone, it's worth the price and more.
