This is possibly quite dull but I love it when the 'winter' smells come out for candles and air freshners. I normally have glade but have recently switched to Airwick in my kitchen so have been waiting patiently!!

Noticed while shopping online yesterday that the winter smells are in, but even better I have acquired on my shop today 'festive pine' and 'mince pie' Grin.

#needtogetoutmore!

Proper Christmas smells! Not tried them yet, Hope they are not horrid!

Gah! I love them, too! My favourite is apple and cinnamon or winter spice ones. It's definitely getting close to Christmas when I start getting out the smellies!

MusicToMyEars800 · 18/08/2017 19:44

I love the winter smells, especially ( yes I know I will probably get flamed ) But the Yankee candle ones Grin I have got frosted berries and apple and cinnamon glade candles ready to go, I love the plug in ones too.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/08/2017 14:53

I buy the Yankee candles too Xmas Grin
Usually my tried and trusted favourites like Sparkling Cinnamon , Sugared Apple and any that are Orange-ey or Ornge/Clove.

I love looking for the new ones - even though I know they're basically the same with new names/pictures.

I recently bought a "Soft Blankets" candles for DD because I love the picture of the Teddy Bear on the jar Xmas Blush. It does smell nice, not one I go and buy again, bit soft and powdery. But ok.

IamChipmunk · 19/08/2017 14:56

I like the Apple and cinnamon glade ones too music! I know air freshers and smelly candles are a mumsnet no no but never mind!!

I'm waiting til I see the big glass glade ones on offer then I'll get some to save for Xmas!

I had a really nice white company one once called fireside but they are a bit pricey for just burning!!

My favourite Yankee Christmas/winter scents are:
Christmas memories
Cinnamon stick
Cosy by the fire
All is bright
Christmas Garland
Christmas Eve
Christmas Cookie
Candy cane lane
Winter glow
They all smell gorgeous and I love the pictured on the jar Grin

Ahhh you are so my people! It isn't Christmas without s nice festive Yankee Candle in this house, can't wait for the beginning of November to unpack my festive candles (when the Halloween decs get packed away!)

Love the sound of the mince pie one, op! You'll have to let us know what they are like!

Nousernameforme · 19/08/2017 16:21

I usually go for a spiced apple or vanilla one. However i quite fancy a woodwick one this year reading under a blanket by candlelight with the sounds of fire crackles. I love winter

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 19/08/2017 16:29

I can thoroughly recommend shearer candles. The cinnamon is divine and I've also got some of the hollyberry and clove, though I think they've discontinued that one now. Very good quality, customer service is excellent. I usually buy extras so I get the free postage on my order.
Last year, I bought scentsicles for the Christmas tree, cinnamon and the spiced orange. Both lovely and quite strong, so I have enough left over for this year.

SideOrderofSprouts · 19/08/2017 16:33

I had the Christmas Eve yankee candle. I have it away

Smelt like toilet cleaner

BroomstickOfLove · 19/08/2017 16:36

White company Winter for me. You can buy scented oil for around £6 and a bottle lasts me for around two years.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 19/08/2017 17:19

There are loads of Yankee that I don't like (Christmas Eve is one of them)
Don't like pine scents either.

I bought a sample sized crackly wick candle , it was ok, smelled nice. Didn't really notice the crackle.

Easiest thing really is Neales Yard oils (Mandarin or Orange mixed with Cinnamon) in a burner.but don't let it burn dry, it chokes you.

ParadiseLaundry · 19/08/2017 18:52

BananaSandwich Angry I have no money for any of those amazing looking candles. I was living in bliss ignorance of their existence before you posted that link Grin

The Christmas Eve Yankee candle doesn't have much of a strong smell imo, but it smells sort of sweet and fizzy to me, not that Christmasy.

I like Candy Cane Lane, the peppermint one, I had that in the bathroom a few years ago.

And not the point of this thread but I really like vanilla chai for September to Xmas time it's really lovely and autumnal, one of Yankees best.

MusicToMyEars800 · 19/08/2017 20:37

I am so glad I am not the only one who loves Yankee candles, you can get a slightly cheaper version called Village candle, they are nice too and could give Yankee a run for their money.

I am soo looking forward to winter, I love it when the nights are cosing in and the tree is up and makes everything cosy with the fairy lights, drinking delicious drinks, snuggled in fluffy pjs and socks complete with my oversized fluffy dressing gown Smile

Also I love it when Costa bring out the winter drinks, their white chocolate hot chocolate was divine, and the gingerbread latte Grin I know how sad that makes me sound Grin

GinYummy · 19/08/2017 22:42

I like the spiced apple and Christmas cookie Yankee scents. Not a huge fan of pine scents, they smell like bathroom cleaner to me Blush.

BananaSandwichesEveryDay · 20/08/2017 00:26

Paradise - I'm sorry Sad
I really don't like pine scents either. We always have a real tree at work and I know when it's been delivered because I can smell it the moment I walk into the building. I much prefer the warmth of the spiced scents at Christmas.

HollyBollyBooBoo · 20/08/2017 06:27

Ocado sell Shearer candles and often have 20% off.

White Company Winter is the ultimate smell for me. Not to be confused with their Christmas range which isn't nearly as nice.

MrsSchadenfreude · 20/08/2017 06:31

Love the Yankee Christmas candles.

RuggerHug · 20/08/2017 06:47

Another Yankee Christmas candle lover here, got them in June this year to save. Have a pretty big collection of other wintery candles as they can be a go to/add on present that people get me. Which I love Grin. There's soy candles from purity belle here which are lovely but not as strong for rooms where I don't want the potency of the Yankees.
Dammit now I want to test the Christmas ones...

RuggerHug · 20/08/2017 06:49

Oh and sort of connected - I got the Christmas zofloras a couple of months ago reduced too. Tragically excited about using them...

OvariesForgotHerPassword · 20/08/2017 06:54

We were given a set of Yankee Christmas candles for our wedding last year (we got married December 18th) and I am so excited to reach them out Grin when does it become socially acceptable?

RuggerHug · 20/08/2017 07:13

If you're making a plan/lists or anything Christmas-y then it's acceptable(nay encouraged) to have one on to help Grin

IamChipmunk · 20/08/2017 07:49

ruggerhug festive zoflora???!
Where?!
Still summer smells in the supermarkets and I can't bring myself to spend £££ on Amazon!!

Thanks for the Yankee candle ideas too! ill look out for one to try! Smile

I love the spices smells. Especially cinnamon

Oh god yes. I can't wait for the Christmas coffee
Menus!!! That's when you know it's
Coming

RaspberryRuffless · 20/08/2017 09:29

So happy I've found this thread!!

My favourite of all time, is "'Tis The Season" from Bath and Bodyworks. I have the wax melts, hand sanitizer and hand soap! Unfortunately it's from America and have to rely on eBay to get it and my Dad who goes on holiday the the USA each year before Christmas (but he doesn't always check scents, just gets a bunch of different soaps and sanitisers!). I also like Merry Berry Kiss and Twisted Peppermint from Bath and Bodyworks.

From Yankee I like Candy Cane Lane, Bundle Up, Sparkling Snow, Christmas Cookie and Salted Caramel.

Glade used to do an amazing one I think it was called Glistening Snow. But they haven't done it the last couple of years.

startingagain17 · 20/08/2017 09:31

I adore the winter smells so much that I have the wax melts up and running all year. They are usually available throughout the year in places such as Home Bargains and Wilkos.
