Let's carry on here until we can sort a proper one.

Probably already mentioned but use SUMMER25 when spending over £10 at works for 25% off

Nzou1050 · 22/08/2017 08:42

Ooo I really want to buy that tree but nowhere for it to go, have to remove furniture from the living room to get our one in as it is. Don't think DH would let me have one in the bedroom Sad

Awoof · 22/08/2017 08:48

Wow I am late to the party this year! Cake can't wait to see what this year's bargains and bargain fails will be.
(I am responsible for the shark bed fiasco of 2016 Blush)

SheStoodInTheStorm · 22/08/2017 08:54

Thanks for the Highway Rat tip, purchased Smile

I went to a primark yesterday and bought some HP stuff. Some good, some naff and not everything I wanted!

MyHouse2011 · 22/08/2017 08:58

Disordered and Tatty thanks. I've just bought those bags as party bags too.

TellMeItsNotTrue · 22/08/2017 09:01

Does anyone know if amazon are still doing/doing again the free baby box? I'm sure it said or someone said you can do it once a year and it's been over a year now. I have a few pregnant friends so I could do with it to help with gifts

tootsieglitterballs · 22/08/2017 09:01

Our DS loves highway rat - he will be over the moon it's on BBC year!

He still watches the recorded gruffalo and gruffalos child!

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/08/2017 09:05

Does anyone mind me asking a what would you think?

If you were a family in severe financial crisis and you were struggling to afford food every week, would you appreciate a fresh food hamper? Like fruit and veg and meat as a family gift? Or would you feel it was a bit of a reminder about your situ?

This family won't accept a financial gift and have previously listened to gentle financial advice but chosen not to use it which is fine.

We got one of the members a Bare Faced grocery box for another occasion and they said they really liked it.

As a family they're not big on Christmas at all but we still exchange gifts.

CowOnTheMoon · 22/08/2017 09:12

Allhallowseve thank you for the link to the tree I've just ordered one for the bedroom! Xmas Grin

christmasunicorn · 22/08/2017 09:16

Could you send them a hamper anonymously? Then just gift a tin of biscuits? Otherwise if you are well off and they are not, if they are sensitive they may think you are taking pity on them and feel awkward. If they don't know who sent it they can just enjoy but you still get a nice warm fuzzy feeling knowing you have helped.

TitsalinaBumSquash · 22/08/2017 09:21

They're the sort of people that if they received an anonymous food package they probably bin it out of suspicion Confused they don't trust easily, won't use internet, online banking etc. We're not well off at all, I thought we could send it them a week before xmas and then leave a token gift or two under their tree (biscuits, wine, chocs etc) I'd really just like to take the burden of stretching tiny amounts of food off of them for a week or 2.
Maybe I could 'win' a hamper but have already done my Christmas food shop...

nocutsnobuttsnococonuts · 22/08/2017 09:24

knope have you looked second hand? I got a 2ds for dd2 in perfect condition with case, mario kart preinstalled and boxed super mario bros game for £25.

DisorderedAllsorts · 22/08/2017 09:25

I think winning the hamper at a raffle idea is a good one. Good luck

christmasunicorn · 22/08/2017 09:26

Well you said they've received one before and liked it so I think a hamper is a great idea. But just meat, fruit and veg is a bit dull for Christmas. Have you looked at park hampers?

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 09:26

Id go with the latter suggestion tbh
Then they would be "helping" you by taking it off your hands?
You could also but nice foodie gifts and add to it by saying they were bogof?
If you are on a diet you could tell them it's helping you by taking them so you do twat them? (I've done this before!)

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 09:26

so you don't eat them
Blush

DumbledoresArmy · 22/08/2017 09:28

nocutsnobutts where did you get the DS from?

ItsNiceItsDifferentItsUnusual · 22/08/2017 09:36

I've just marked two days for wrapping presents on my calendar Grin. Takes longer than I think every flipping time!

MyHouse2011 · 22/08/2017 09:50

Knope classic typo Grin Grin

NoWordForFluffy · 22/08/2017 10:17

Shitting hell. I now own another Christmas tree (it's a bargain though!).

Not sure where it'll live, but never mind!

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 10:21

I was this close to ordering that tree...we have 2 and have a real tree too!
Bargain though....

TellMeItsNotTrue · 22/08/2017 10:27

Knope Grin Grin Grin got to be one of my favourite typos!!

NoWordForFluffy · 22/08/2017 10:43

It was a brilliant typo! My phone hates the word 'twat' so would never do that! It's too funny!

Knope2020 · 22/08/2017 11:03

Titsalina, it's worth looking in Sainsbury's for LEGO deals. :)
