Dsd has everything I can think of. She has a bike, scooter, kindle fire and she uses our iPad. We got a barbie house, dolls and tonnes of arts and crafts. I really have no ideas and she has a December birthday Hmm anyone any similar aged girls with any ideas?

Does she like any particular music? You could get her some tickets? X

herebehippos · 10/08/2017 16:29

Tickets for a 7 year old?! My dd7 wants lego, dc superhero girls stuff and a new lottie doll.

Matilda2013 · 10/08/2017 16:32

Her dad already said no to a concert so I was thinking maybe days out or something. She got lego last year and hasn't bothered with it really. Happier colouring in, Hama beads etc or playing with the Ipad Confused never been this stuck before!

My DD will also be 7 at Christmas time. She has started getting into stationery - think Smiggle (completely overpriced but so bright and cokourful) and would love things like bath bombs. Saying that I have no idea what I am getting my DD this year!

Matilda2013 · 10/08/2017 18:09

See I know she'd love some jojo bows I know mumsnet hates them but seven year olds don't and fidget spinners and other small things. But I feel we need some proper presents to cover birthday and Christmas... maybe I'll just have to hope she has some ideas that aren't a cat a dog or a baby sister Grin

A pony magazine subscription went down v well last Christmas with my then 7yr old. DC love getting post addressed to them, and you can find a magazine to fit any hobby.

NorthumbrianGirl · 10/08/2017 18:37

Some of the things I'm looking at for dd1, who will be just short of 7 at Christmas are:

Blo pens
Aquabeads
Magic set (Melissa and Doug one)
Spy kit (made this up myself from bits and pieces in an old briefcase)
Egypt playmobil
Y scooter
Robot coding mouse thingy from learning resources
Design a friend doll with some clothes in a suitcase

newbie alert my dd will be 7 at Xmas and I think we'll get her some heelies! They're rather garish but they're on offer for £29.99 in Sports Direct (not real brand) but I think look more of a big present than they are!

Matilda2013 · 10/08/2017 19:17

Oh that's the other thing dsd has been asking for since last Christmas heelies! May have to give in this year! We have a y scooter theyre fab Grin should probably buy her some of the paper that goes over the Hama beads to iron that we lost too!

my dd is 8 in November but last year tickets to the ballet went down well. This year we're decorating her room so some accessories - I saw a unicorn canvas, not babyish! - to go with it. Quite possibly a CD or two.

thesourceofLoveandLight · 10/08/2017 19:37

gah! silly phone. are there any films she has loved? maybe dolls of characters? or a voucher for a treat like horse riding?

daisydalrymple · 10/08/2017 19:45

Dd went crackers for pottery cool last year.

Also absolutely loves her hatchimal we finally got for her birthday.

Matilda2013 · 10/08/2017 20:16

She's really into things like Liv and Maddy and Victorious and Sam and Cat on the tv just now. I really like the look of the pottery thing actually! Completely different from any other art things we have.

What ballet did you see? Not sure how she would sit for that and I've never been to ballet.

we saw Hansel and Gretal, in Glasgow. She loved it and just me and her, no younger ds so a massive treat. Grown up but not as much as a concert perhaps? we had seen The Nutcracker years before so I was confident it would go down well. There are kids theatre shows too - Fantastic Mr Fox was on up here but I couldn't find the time!

NorthumbrianGirl · 10/08/2017 20:35

Re Hama beads - you can use normal baking parchment to put between the beads and iron, you don't need special paper (slightly off topic, sorry).

IamShopkin · 10/08/2017 21:15

HelenaJustina
Would you be able to recommend a good/nice pony magazine please? Thanks

Matilda2013 · 10/08/2017 21:24

Ohh we're in Glasgow too! My mum and sister got her panto tickets for us all to go for her birthday last year and that was fun Smile. Thanks northumbrian I shall invest in some. I always forget we don't have it until she makes one Blush

American Girl/ Our Generation Dolls seem popular with that age group. My niece is very taken with hers and it seems to have put all her other dolls in the shade. It's very much a "cool" doll, iykwim and in no way considered babyish. My SIL is brilliant at sewing and the elves are going to make her and the doll matching Christmas outfits but even without any crafty talents there are tonnes of accessories available.

DD who is 6 got a hatchimal for her birthday and loves it. I was surprised because I thought it was a lot of hype over nothing but she plays with it a lot. She'd also love a pet or a new baby so clearly she has a lot of maternal instincts to channel!

goodness knows what happened there. app playing up on me tonight. It was at the Theatre Royal last year, wine for me and ice cream for her. They're doing The Nutcracker in Jan this year. Depends on whether or not your dd would fancy it. I caved on heelies last birthday, they too went down v. well.
