He has some interviews lined up but they could take a while to come through.

Temporary contract, we had our fingers crossed for another (4th) extension but they confirmed today that this is his last month.

CbeebiesAddict · 07/09/2017 11:12

So sorry to hear that hairspray I hope something else comes up quickly Flowers

BiddyPop · 07/09/2017 11:28

Fluffy I will get onto that tonight.

Hairspray that's bad luck for your DP. At least you have time now to start to think ahead, do more bargain hunting and also to set the expectations for others around you (DCs and wider family). Fingers' crossed on the interviews though.

OOh Constantly and Wooly, they sound like nice plans for Christmassy events.

Aw Sprouts, does no rainbow include no longer allowing tie dying? Definitely go with badges - and think how naff you can make it for December with pin on Christmassy broches (sp?) for effect, light up ones and all (you could claim you are showing them electronics and LEDs in action!!). Xmas Grin

Annwithnoe · 07/09/2017 12:20

Fluffy- hope your cough is improving. It's bad enough coughing without losing sleep too.
Hairspray- I'll keep fingers crossed that something turns up quickly.

Feeling gutted today. DD whose not quite 7 asked me if I brought the presents from Santa Xmas Sad I don't think her brothers spilled the beans directly but I suspect they were all discussing it openly among themselves before the older two asked me last week and their sudden silence on the matter made her suspicious. We had a lovely chat and she thanked me for telling her (after I deflected and dodged as best I could. She'll make a great interrogator) but I've had to have a little cry by myself. Can't believe the magic is over already Xmas Sad

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2017 12:40

Fingers crossed your DP finds something else quickly, Hairspray. If nothing else he can apply for seasonal work, can he? Not ideal, but it would be something.

Ann, that's quite sad. I feel for you.

DD started school today, so I was sobbing after we dropped her off! She went in just fine though, so I hope she's doing OK. I hope she's eaten some dinner too!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2017 12:50

Look what I saw in Sainsbury's!

BiddyPop · 07/09/2017 13:01

Anne, that's a shame. But at least it wasn't on Christmas Eve with a big demanding questioning "Who brings the Santa presents, is it you?" to DH and I from the then-about to turn 11yo (and after DH and I had shared a naice but high alcohol bottle of wine with dinner!). She's asked once more since. We've deflected, but it's patently clear she doesn't believe (waaaaa!) - the good news is I might finally get away with having stockings for DH and I as well as her! Xmas Grin

BiddyPop · 07/09/2017 13:02

OOOOoh Fluffy - they didn't have those on Sunday!! Must add to my list for DH (he is going to Belfast tomorrow and already had more gin on his list....but is a bit of a scrooge until later in November at least....)

FridgeCut · 07/09/2017 15:01

Everyone gets a stocking in our house, Wilf hasn't questioned too much that me and DH do them for each other.

I am so sorry for the band news HS and the end of the magic Ann, makes me realise how short this time maybe. We only ever go and see one santa to try and keep that front up.

We have booked in all our christmas events now, aside from a carol concert, need to find one!

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2017 15:08

I need an afternoon Carol concert that isn't going to bankrupt me! 😂

BiddyPop · 07/09/2017 15:22

Come to Dublin, there are 2 at least in the national concert hall at lunchtime that are only about €10 each and normally lovely (I always bring and need to use tissues!)

MrsPworkingmummy · 07/09/2017 15:24

@NoWordForFluffy

...must resist urge to leave work early to go to Sainsburys....

NoWordForFluffy · 07/09/2017 15:51

Might cost a bit to get to Dublin though, Biddy!

CbeebiesAddict · 07/09/2017 16:09

Not technically Christmas related as it's for our anniversary but just booked lunch and spa treatments at our local 5* hotel for the 20th December. Have picked a manicure so I can have Christmas nails Grin

Minster2012 · 07/09/2017 16:52

Hairspray that's rubbish, fingers crossed it's not long before he gets another job.

Starting operation Christmas garland today... feeling very Christmassy! Hopefully they work!! First time try 🎄

I've found a National Trust wreath making class near me, hurrah. There are spaces too, double hurrah! Is £45 reasonable? ignores the fact that I could buy a fresh wreath for less

Lovely dried fruit Minster

Annwithnoe · 07/09/2017 18:52

Ooh Minster your house must smell lovely. I've lost my Christmas mojo today.
CBeebies that is a lovely way to start Christmas.

FireflyGirl · 07/09/2017 19:07

I'm hoping to make my own dried fruit garlands this year too, but have been putting it off while the weather was so warm, as I didn't want the oven on for hours!

I am vaguely following one of the Christmas cleaning holiday plans (the one where this week is paperwork, which I never finished kondo-ing). Whilst I could heat the whole house for a month on the amount of scrap paper, I also found my copy of Nigella Christmas, which clearly didn't get put away properly last year. So I have been happily looking through that this evening Grin

For the more crafty amongst us, I also stumbled across the jumper in the picture. It's £50 to buy, but find an old jumper, buy a stocking from the Poundshop, 10 mins with the sewing machine and Bob's your Uncle Xmas Grin you could even improve it with a bit of tinsel round the top!

Minster2012 · 07/09/2017 19:41

Ooh a national trust wreath making class sounds lovely woolly, I might look that one up, I think £45 is ok because it would surely be an afternoon or something too so you get the afternoon activity plus the wreath plus (hopefully tea/coffee) plus knowledge?!

Minster2012 · 07/09/2017 19:42

And yes house smells delicious, & I feel smug for assisting fake auntie in using up her apples that were falling to the ground at a rate of knots going to waste with bug holes in them!

TheWoollybacksWife · 07/09/2017 19:44

Yes indeed Minster. I'm calling it an investment in the future Xmas Grin

The one I've found is from 10-3 and runs on a day when DS has an after school club. It includes a light lunch too. Bargain really.

Pigleychez · 07/09/2017 19:51

Hairspray- I feel your worry. My DH's employers went into administration on Dec 1st last year taking £13 K of DH's money with them! Was terrible timing. Christmas gifts were pretty much homemade but the DD's had a fab time none the less.

Ive spent the past few evening crocheting snowflakes as planning to make a snowflake table runner for xmas.

Minster2012 · 07/09/2017 22:03

Humph, no wreath making anywhere near me?! In the Yorkshire countryside!!! I'd have thought prime wreath making territory 😩

FridgeCut · 08/09/2017 01:11

DS2 is 2 today, I really should go to bed ready for his excitement in the morning :)

tootsieglitterballs · 08/09/2017 08:36

@Minster2012 where abouts in Yorkshire are you? I know of a few... they definitely do one at fountains abbey as a friend usually runs it!
