Wow, prequel is all filled up and it's not even august!

So I will start a new op at some point but since it's only July and things will be slower the links will portably be out of date by the time the next thread starts so I'll save that for later.

Welcome everyone to Christmas Bargain Central, a place to post and share ideas and offers .

Proper bargain though - the ELC retro diner kitchen is now half price at £80. Good price and it's pretty big

FoofFighter · 04/08/2017 08:27

Oh dear, I accidentally bought the German version of Ratuki Blush I really shouldn't buy stuff when in bed half asleep!
Also bought one of these balaclava things www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B00PJZZ6AU/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1&tag=mumsnetforum-21 for £4.99 great stocking filler - same company also do adult ones for £3.99 (thanks to friend who lurks here for the link!)

Tattybogle89 · 04/08/2017 08:49

Sorry @FoofFighter I should have put links up in my posts. Was half asleep myself. Gotta love amazon though 😉

www.everything5pounds.com/en/
Some nice things on this website also have a half price sale at the moment

tootsieglitterballs · 04/08/2017 08:55

@Deploycharitygoats fabulous - thank you! I never even considered looking anywhere but the ELC site!!

Isadora2007 · 04/08/2017 08:59

I get good savings on the Very site by being registered and every so often they send an incentive to buy from them. Recently I have used 3 £30 off a £60 spend so have had adidas trainers for £30-40 instead of 60/70 and last year I got Georgie the interactive puppy for £29 as it was £99 reduced in Black Friday sale to £59 and I got a further £30 off. I also preordered the NES that was all the rage for £30 off as well (ended up selling it on eBay )

So it's worth signing up now. I use my husband and son (over 18) as well. 🙈

Annwithnoe · 04/08/2017 09:00

Looking over my notes from last year and thought I'd mention that the 20% of in smyths last year was followed up a week or so after with vouchers for £5 off £20, £10 off £50, £20 off £100. I bought stuff in the 2 for £20 section and then got £5 off, which worked out at 25% off instead of 20% off in the sale. Stocked up on a few birthday party gifts this way.

Also noted that quite a few prices in Argos were inflated for 3-4-2 sale and were only similar to other retailers after the deal, which is no deal really Angry. Their base price on the Lego advent calendar for instance only brought it down to a normal price if you bought 3-4-2, same with some other Lego I had my eye on. And it's awfully easy to impulse buy something you don't really need because the third thing you want is out of stock. It's one sale I'm very leery of.

Annwithnoe · 04/08/2017 09:02

Oh and I also noted that Smyths and Disney are NOT discreet with their packaging, so take that into account when ordering online! I'm going to send those packages to Granpa's house this year.

Tattybogle89 · 04/08/2017 09:05

This seems like a really good deal for the girls.

Tattybogle89 · 04/08/2017 09:07

@Annwithnoe
Argos definitely increase prices just before 3 for 2, you have to be really selective with what you order, but last year Tesco done a 3 for 2 on toys aswell. Tesco pricematched everywhere first so prices were rock bottom for most things, and on 3 for 2! Reeeally hoping they do it again this year as saved a fortune!

GirlWithTheYellowHat · 04/08/2017 09:11

I also missed out on the £5 helicopters last year, how do you fly this one as it doesn't mention a remote?

AllTheWittyNamesAreGone · 04/08/2017 09:16

Ordered three helicopters, hopefully they will be good

RatInfestedHell · 04/08/2017 09:19

Hello thread!

Individual pots of playdough are 50p in Argos at the moment. They even let me choose colours.

Tattybogle89 · 04/08/2017 09:26

@GirlWithTheYellowHat I have emailed seller to find out will let you know. It says remote controlled but doesn't say there's a remote included.. judging by pic I'm wondering if it's like a button on helicopter to fly, the hands under / around it to sensor fly like a lot of these gadgets? Hopefully be worth the price either way 😃

For anyone who missed this there still seems to be lots of stock surprisingly?!

I also found re fills and mini sets for doh Vinci at Asda reduced to 63p-£2.49 so worth keeping an eye out 😉

playmobil truck thing £10.99 reduced from £29.99 prime members only. Might need to go onto "other sellers" to find it at that price though

christmasunicorn · 04/08/2017 11:10

ann John Lewis had an advent calendar like you describe last year! I can't find any images of it though but it had little cardboard boxes of various sizes to fill.

FoofFighter · 04/08/2017 12:58

Just realised you can search Argos clearance area online for your own store, handy!

Another couple of presents off my list.

MelinaMercury · 04/08/2017 13:30

Kids and DH out for the day so I decide to decant the packages into one for storage so DH thinks there's only one or two.

Didn't realise I had quite so much already Blush oops!
