Anyone started to buy Christmas presents yet?

I'm very excited for Christmas this year and have started to pick up presents for my dd (2.8)

Nothing that will date and nothing character branded as she changes her mind like the wind.

Mainly board games, play doh, wooden toys and jigsaw puzzles at the minute.

My dh thinks I'm mad for starting this early (normally July) has any one else started?

I did make a head start in the early part of the year. Hoping to buy more soon as the funds become available. Xmas Smile

Tesco has some good deal on craft stufff and orchard games at the moment

My friend has 3 dds all close in age so I'm doing them a craft hamper so I've started to pick bits up to go in there.

Last year I did them a games hamper and their mum was thrilled she said it got them through the cold dark nights after school :)

I bought 3 wicker type baskets from my local fb selling forum, they are huge and will be fab for making up hampers for my stupidly hard to buy for dad and Mil. Yey!!!

themumfairy · 23/06/2017 15:00

I have. Mainly for dd who will be almost 2 at Christmas. And it's mainly things from the disney shop sale and wooden toys. I haven't for ds 8&10 as they change their minds. Got my Xmas cards in the January sale too.

BelfastSmile · 23/06/2017 15:03

I've bought one thing for DS, just because I happened to see it. This is about 6 months earlier than I've ever started though!

imip · 23/06/2017 15:59

Today I got lots of lip balms and hair bits in the accessorise sale. I have 4 primary aged dds, so plenty of stocking fillers for Christmas Day!

Nicpem1982 · 23/06/2017 17:11

Imip - sounds perfect

I picked up some nice crayola crayons and sparkly pencils this week that were in the sale

Brought my brother a Zippy (From Rainbow) cup, my mum some jewellery and a handbag, also some cherry themed items for a cherry themed hamper I am doing for her.

jenesuisplus · 24/06/2017 09:48

Yes, I buy throughout the year. No-one ends up with tonnes (huge family - I'm one of 5, 4 of us are parents, all our parents and grandparents still alive and kicking, so it's not like the "to buy list" is tiny!) but it eases the purse strings in november and december. Mostly toiletry bits and art supplies purchased so far, and a nice wallet I saw for my DGM. I go to France in a few weeks and will be scouring the French sales for christmas gifts too.

AnyFarrahFowler · 25/06/2017 14:46

I wrote my list today - I leave my job next month to be a SAHM so money will be tighter, therefore trying to spread the cost. Also need to be organised as DD is due in November and ideally I'd like to be done (and even wrapped?!) by then.
I've already got matching Christmas pyjamas for DS and newborn DD ticked off (Mamas & Papas sale now on).
Will be watching for any other summer sales for things like Hollister shirts (DH and DB) as well as bits like candles/bath sets from Boots.

Tattybogle89 · 26/06/2017 15:21

@AnyFarrahFowler seen on the bargain thread, Hollister has a sale on at the moment, and 10% of for signing up to there newsletter.
Hope this helps

AnyFarrahFowler · 26/06/2017 16:59

Thank you Tatty!!

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 26/06/2017 17:14

Hate to admit it, but today while picking up an order in Joules I also picked up 4 pairs of nice bamboo socks, reduced in the sale - to go in sundry Christmas stockings.
However by December I am all too liable to have a) forgotten that I have them, or b) even if I remember, to forget where I put them!

NoWordForFluffy · 26/06/2017 17:16

Put a reminder in your phone for 1st Dec to remind you of both (or earlier if you're likely to accidentally buy again before then!).

viques · 26/06/2017 17:24

Funnily enough I had a parcel delivered today which contained two beautiful silk scarves from Toast, reduced to real bargain status in their sale, they are destined for Christmas presents for a pair of sisters. all I have to do now is find somewhere to put them where a) I will find them again b) the moths will never find them........

Nicpem1982 · 04/07/2017 19:29

We do Christmas Eve box from us just some sweets new pjs wash stuff, toothbrush and hot chocolate. I live christmas 🎅

Ooh what does your North Pole breakfast entail, ilovetea? I'm keen to start some new Christmas traditions!

ilovetea14 · 15/07/2017 16:47

Hi AnyFarrahfowler, I set the table up like Xmas day we have hot chocolate with marshmallows, pancakes with chocolate spread, doughnuts with sprinkles on them I do toast with shapes of Xmas tree gingerbread man I have shape cutters. Put candy canes on table sprinkle snowflakes all over the table. I leave a note from the elf saying he set up the north pole brastfast for them cuz he had such a great time in our house and it's is leaving present to them from him.

ilovetea14 · 15/07/2017 16:48

It's not the healthiest breakfast but it's a once off and my Ds loves it and so do I 😊

AnyFarrahFowler · 15/07/2017 18:20

Sounds lovely! I like the idea of doing a special breakfast on Christmas Eve because you never really get chance on Christmas Day, as you don't want to spoil your appetite for your Christmas Dinner! We did scrambled eggs, smoked salmon and Bucks Fizz in the past (pre-children!) but last year with 11 month old DS we were too busy opening presents and playing. I'm going to try and do something similar to you this year, I've been inspired!

Frankswife87 · 15/07/2017 18:25

Ilovetea14 what a lovely idea! I would of loved that as a child 🎅

ilovetea14 · 15/07/2017 18:53

Me too. After breakfast we get ready go for a walk in park and feed the Reindeer. We come home make cakes for Santa get dinner give baths to kids give them there Xmas eve moves with pjs and sweets than have movie night with hot chocolate. I love Christmas and nice to have lovely memories to look back on

ilovetea14 · 15/07/2017 18:56
